Thank you for your hospitality. The place was clean & bigger than expected. Easy access from downtown off Agua Fria. The only recommendation I would give is having a better bed frame, It is an old metal frame and the middle bar slipped away from frame. The peppbles in front of house are not sharp and easy to walk on(even barefoot). Cute little place.
Roomy and Clean!
This place was clean, clean, clean! (And after being on the road for nearly 2 weeks, with doggy in tow, you would not believe me if I described some of the filth we saw...!) All the rooms here are good sized and the place is decked out with everything you would need for a day or 2 stay. Except a microwave..? There's a toaster oven, but we could have used a microwave. Not a deal breaker for us.
Very comfy bed, WiFi , 12 cup coffee maker and the owner had coffee, brown eggs, OJ and milk stocked for us!
Yes, the location is on a busy street and the neighborhood is not pretty. Again, not a deal breaker. You can't hear traffic AT ALL with the doors and windows closed. It's an older, thick block house (1954 written in the concrete on the back stoop...kinda cool) that stay really quiet and cool inside. And it was a great jumping off point for us: it's very close to several great restaurants and a couple of historic sites we wanted to visit.
All in all we thought it was a bargain for Santa Fe. The owner was so nice and responsive and he charges a VERY fair price for what you get. Although it doesn't scream 'vacation', it's more a place I would expect to find on AirBnB, we're glad we came across this place. It suited us just fine.
Also, to address an issue brought up in a previous review, the glass/pebble ground cover wasn't a problem in flip flops at all, and our dog ran all over it like it was grass.
Betty Davis's famous line from the movie, "Beyond the Forest," "What a Dump!" describes this so-called vacation rental in Sante Fe, New Mexico to a "T." The living room wall was no more than 30 feet from a busy street where there was constant traffic noise. This made opening windows for some needed ventilation nearly impossible. The ONLY air conditioning in the entire unit was an IRRITATINGLY LOUD floor appliance in the bedroom. We had to ask the owner for a fan, which was freely given, but was also extremely loud.
On the plus side, the shower, bath and refrigerator worked, but there was no
microwave or kitchen table for dining. The outside area covering consisted of
small pieces of broken colored glass and stones that could be troublesome if wearing sandals. We would never stay here again under any circumstances
if we return to Sante Fe.
