- 3 large bedrooms, 2 baths (clawfoot tub + double shower), sleeps 6 to 10

Fantastic location directly on the waterfront of Lake Shehawken in Rural Pennsylvania. 60 acre spring fed lake adjoining two 400 acre farms. Nothing but tranquility surrounds. Minutes from Hancock, NY.

Recently renovated four season lakefront cottage has all the amenities to make your vacation comfortable.

Gental slope to private lake for swimming, boating and fishing. Walk out the front door to hiking and biking. Near miles and miles of trails through state gamelands. Minutes to the West Branch Delaware River for world class fly fishing, or drive a little further south to the Main Stem Delaware River for rafting and canoeing.

House has recently renovated kitchen, and two renovated bathrooms (1 double shower, 1 clawfoot bathtub) and rental comes with clean white linens and towels. House has three bedrooms that sleeps up to 6 adults plus 4 children (full bed in each of three bedrooms, plus bunk beds in two of the larger rooms).

Lake Shehawken is a spring fed lake that has modest homes and cottages that have been owned by families for generations. The few renters tend to be families that come back year after year. Fantastic place to enjoy the solitude and relax.

About Eric Freitag

My wife and I are both in the creative fields. I manage the design and development of new products (ie. housewares, consumer electronics) and my wife is a practicing artist based in New York City. We have two kids who enjoy coming to the lake on weekends, holidays and summer. The lakehouse is a retreat for us all, and we couldn't live in the city without it.

Eric Freitag purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Eric Freitag chose Northeastern Pennsylvania

I'm an avid fly fisherman and have been coming to the area for many years. We spent about 2 years looking for the right house in the right location, and found this spot in the dead of winter, and immediately knew it was a gem. The broker said that if we liked it in the middle of a blizzard, we'd love it during the summer . . .

What makes this cottage unique

This part of rural PA is special, because it's like time stops out here. Renters always ask us for a list of local attractions, but we find that almost all of the people who come to the lake barely leave the comforts of the house and lakefront. Come see for yourself.

Wonderful August vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation here with 4 adults and three small children (6, 8 and 1 years old). The house is nicely furnished, well kept and clean, as is the property in general. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise over the lake is a great way to start a day. Most of our days consisted of fishing (good bass), kayaking, paddle boarding (we brought our own), and swimming in the lake. We brought a ton of groceries and cooked all of our meals. There is a small market nearby where you can grab basic groceries, gas, and even bait (if you want worms for catching sunnies for the kids). Also notable is the owner, Eric, was readily available via text if we had any questions or needs.

Fantastic summer weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Had another wonderful weekend up at the cottage, this time in the summer which was amazing! The place was gorgeous, clean and well kept as usual. This time we got to enjoy July 4th up there and the fireworks show on the lake was one of the best I've ever seen in my life. The lake was beautiful and clean, we swam and enjoyed the kayaks. We made s'mores in the fire pit and enjoyed the property and view of the lake. There are people on the lake but it's not too busy, it's truly the perfect getaway.

Perfect lake house vacation

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic location, fantastic lake, fantastic house! My family absolutely loved our stay at this house. The modern vintage industrial style of the home was perfect. The fishing was amazing - tons of bass! We loved kayaking, swimming, fishing, boating and just relaxing in the sun. The view is amazing. We also saw lots of wildlife, enjoyed cooking breakfasts and grilling. A truly relaxing, old fashioned vacation. We will definitely be booking again!!!

Best family vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

The Shehawken house provided everyone in the family what they wanted from a great vacation. The cabin itself has a unique and very functional design and never seemed crowded for the seven of us. The appliances all worked as they should. Excellent views of the lake were on every level. All of the neighbors were very friendly as well. There were many cooperative fish supplying all of us with fun, even from the dock, at various times throughout the day and evening. The various boats were well appreciated. At night, we enjoyed a campfire down at the water. After dark, we liked having the Roku for accessing Netflix and there is an extensive in-house DVD and VHS collection. The only sad part was having to go back home! We are reserving a week next summer.

The most gorgeous modern place on a lake!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at this beautiful lake house a couple years ago and he hasn't been able to stop talking about it since! Seriously the best place we've ever rented. It's even more gorgeous and relaxing than you can see from the pictures. It's ultra clean and modern, beautiful glass windows looking out to the lake and a very nice lawn to sit or play on. You can also go for a nice walk around the area and there's a town close where you can get everything you need. I would 100% recommend this place and we can't wait to come back and rent this summer!
