About Eric Freitag

My wife and I are both in the creative fields. I manage the design and development of new products (ie. housewares, consumer electronics) and my wife is a practicing artist based in New York City. We have two kids who enjoy coming to the lake on weekends, holidays and summer. The lakehouse is a retreat for us all, and we couldn't live in the city without it.

Eric Freitag purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Eric Freitag chose Northeastern Pennsylvania

I'm an avid fly fisherman and have been coming to the area for many years. We spent about 2 years looking for the right house in the right location, and found this spot in the dead of winter, and immediately knew it was a gem. The broker said that if we liked it in the middle of a blizzard, we'd love it during the summer . . .

What makes this cottage unique

This part of rural PA is special, because it's like time stops out here. Renters always ask us for a list of local attractions, but we find that almost all of the people who come to the lake barely leave the comforts of the house and lakefront. Come see for yourself.

The most gorgeous modern place on a lake!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at this beautiful lake house a couple years ago and he hasn't been able to stop talking about it since! Seriously the best place we've ever rented. It's even more gorgeous and relaxing than you can see from the pictures. It's ultra clean and modern, beautiful glass windows looking out to the lake and a very nice lawn to sit or play on. You can also go for a nice walk around the area and there's a town close where you can get everything you need. I would 100% recommend this place and we can't wait to come back and rent this summer!

Wonderful Home and Lake-Perfect for Good Quality Family Time!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Shehawken Lake. We were looking for a quiet vacation to spend some quality time as a family and it was perfect. The house sits on a beautiful lake with great swimming, boating and fishing. it was small enough that our kids could go out in the kayaks and row boats by themselves (ages 9 and 10--with life preservers),which they loved. We could always see them. Fishing was fantastic--my son fished from 8am to 8pm, catching lots of fish. The house was really cool--extremely well designed. It looks small on the outside but felt very roomy inside--we didn't even use the upstairs! It has everything you'd need--kitchen well stocked, lots of kids movies, bright, clean bedrooms, nice big shower, etc. There isn't a lot to do in the surrounding area--no real places to go out to eat, etc so bring food and plan to grill or cook! The owner is very helpful and accommodating. The neighbors were super nice too. We're already talking about going back and I have recommended it to friends. Great place to relax, read, fish, swim, etc. My kids rated it an 11 out of 10 and their best vacation!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We had a family vacation at this cottage and really enjoyed it. The house has plenty of room to sleep, is clean and tastefully done, and the owners clearly thought of everything. Our family enjoyed spending time on the dock and in the water, on the lake, meeting the neighbors, and spending evenings in on the big screened in porch while cooking dinner. Eric was particularly helpful with answering questions and explaining things. Lake has a unique community feel and history that is really nice

A sweet swimming spot

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this delightful property. We are a family with a small child and brought along a second family with the same. The house is clean, tasteful and well-appointed. The owners are helpful and available. The lake is great to swim in, or just dangle your feet in, or boat around. You, too, can play the "which house would I buy" game! And the star-gazing is pretty great. Also great are the many toys for kids and adults. Other people's toys are always better than what you bring!

The only thing I don't love is how the sound travels through this house. There is little sound insulation and you can hear everything going on. If you are sensitive to noise you might want earplugs or white noise. I would still return to this house and I still give it 5-stars. It's wonderful. With all the baking supplies it would be fun to have a visit in the fall or winter!
