This property was wonderful! Very clean and accommodating. Owner is sweet and easy to work with. Furniture and beds are comfortable. Many water craft options available. Only drawback is that you cannot swim off of the shore or dock due to excessive seaweed.
peace and solitude
it was the perfect spot for our 40th anniversary...quiet, beautiful nature....perfect spot to recharge and get off grid for awhile...the screened in porch was heaven...Thank you, Rindy for sharing your piece of heaven with us
A Little Slice of Heaven
This was our first time staying in this adorable cottage. The pictures do not do it justice. Oh so cute, clean and all amenities one can think of. It was so quiet not only during the evening but daytime as well. Although we had a few days of rain we took advantage of day trips around the Salisbury/Lakeville area. Oh so pretty with the mountains surrounding the area. Just a perfect location!
Rindy is an excellent host, friendly & helpful. Property has kayaks & canoe + a dock you can fish off. Cottage is clean with AC if needed, working fireplace & screened in porch. We grilled, fished, canoed kayaked & picniced with Family & even our 2 small dogs had a great time.
Special corner of the world even in the rain
We went in mid May and fully expected to spend much more time on the dock, in the lake and on the screened porch. After our first day, which was sunny and serene, the skies opened up and temperatures dropped, so we had a very different kind of stay, But the home is cozy, the fireplace works, we went kayaking and had the lake to ourselves - and a heron, swallows, geese and ducks. Rindy was a very responsive and concerned host and we ended up still happy we had gotten away from it all. (We also day tripped to Great Barrington, only 20 minutes away.)
Away from it all!
If you are looking for a quiet, secluded getaway then this is the place for you! Once you turn off the main road you travel down a very long driveway. You will see the owners home to the right but once in the cottage you don't even realize you have neighbors. If you have a sensitivity to the smell of smoke then beware this cottage has a fireplace and the smell of fire hits you when you walk in the door. We opened all the windows, sprayed some air freshener and in no time the smell was gone. This quaint two bedroom cottage was perfect for us! The bedrooms are on the small side, there is a TV with very basic cable and wifi but that's not why you are here! One look out the back windows and you know you're in for a relaxing getaway! The screened-in porch was perfect for meals, curling up to read a book or watching our 3 year old run around the yard searching for caterpillars, frogs and small woodland creatures! If you plan on traveling with your fur friend just know that the yard is not fenced in. We travel with a lead that we can screw right into the ground and our dog has all the freedom to roam without disappearing into the unknown. Beware this is bear country (we saw some pretty large bear scat in the yard) so be careful when letting your dog out at night! Also know that there is a natural spring which runs under the home that makes for some soggy ground, so pack your boots! But for our 3 year old who thinks she's Peppa Pig this was perfect! Nothing she loves more than jumping in muddy puddles! There is a floating dock at the end of the yard where we fished and kayaked all day long! We caught plenty of sunnies and striped bass right from the dock! In the evening we sat by the fire pit (with wood supplied by the owners), roasted marshmallows and talked about the adventures of the day! There is a small quaint town not far from the home with a general store, coffee shop, wine store and small supermarket. But for us once we arrived at the home we stayed put and enjoyed the quiet and each other. The owners were away at the time but remained in contact to ensure that we were enjoying our stay! We wished we had booked a longer stay which only means we will need to return again soon!
