Santa Fe Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, full-size foldout couch,sleeps 3-4

Casita de la Luna is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy our walled garden (shared with our other casita). In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. It is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved Southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. In the bathroom, enjoy a large jacuzzi tub and stall shower. There is a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Long-Term Owners: My husband and I have owned this property for over 13 years. In that time we have established a number of return guests who come year after year, saying that this is the best accommodations they have ever stayed in while in Santa Fe.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

Miscellaneous: One week stay minimum. No cleaning fees, no security deposit, no contracts.

About Roxanne Connan

My husband and I bought this property more than 13 years ago. I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over thirteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 17-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful ten days staying here. Roxanne has taken great steps to make it well-equipped and comfortable, from the snacks and breakfast items to the deluxe towels. I was particularly impressed by the well-equipped kitchen. We were even able to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return soon. Thanks, Elaine

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in Santa Fe with this casita being our home base. We had booked the home for one week beginning on a Monday but our road trip took a curve and we realized that we couldn't arrive until Tuesday. Roxanne accommodated the change without hesitation. When we arrived, the only thing we had to do was bring in our suitcases. There was some food waiting for us as well as clear instructions as to what we needed to know about the house. We loved the fire place (lot's of wood available) and each night when- we came home from exploring Santa Fe and the area around Santa Fe, we would finish our day by sitting with our books in front of the fire. I would use this rental again; it was lovely.

Casita de la Luna is Wonderful!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two magical weeks at Casita de la Luna and were more than totally satisfied. Everything promised in the owner's description and photos was even better than advertised. The layout and rooms were spacious and very comfortable, the king size bed was luxurious, and the skylights kept the rooms bright all day. The kitchen was fully equipped. Besides the appliances there is very nice china and flatware, glassware and plenty of knives, spatulas, and gadgets. The owner provided a few necessities, so that we didn't have to shop for groceries upon our arrival. We made use of the full size washer and dryer at the end of our first week. The location is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood but within comfortable walking distance to downtown, the Plaza, the farmers market, shopping and restaurants.

The property was immaculate and well maintained. The housekeeper came after one week and asked if we needed cleaning. We especially enjoyed the private courtyard share with Casita #2, with its many flowering plants in bloom, comfortable seating and a bubbling bird bath, which was visited frequently by several birds, including a couple we recognized on their return visits. Although the owner was leaving for her own vacation the day after our arrival she was very responsive when we called her for help with the satellite TV system on our first night. There was no problem, just "operator error" on our part. The owner also provided a phone number for someone who was available to help while she was away, but we never needed to call him.

We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. It was perfect for us and for anyone else. We enjoyed several nearby restaurants including Raaga, Paper Dosa, Cafe Chemoya plus La Boca and The Shed downtown.

Charming Casita

  • 5 of 5

102 Pena Place is a hidden treasure. The location is perfect for walking to the Railyard (Farmers Market), the Plaza and Canyon Road. Roxanne has everything you could possibly need - it is like staying with family. The courtyard with the garden and fountain is a perfect spot to relax/read/nap/listen to birds. If you are planning a visit to Santa Fe this is the best place to call home for your stay - it truly is a HomeAway from home.

Charming, cozy casita

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the casita was wonderful. It has historic charm without too much décor. Beautiful wood and tile floors with Spanish rugs, and local original art. It was very quiet, with only the sounds of birds in the morning. The location was excellent with easy access to the main highway, and within walking distance (5 blocks) to coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants. You could easily stay here without a car if you were spending all your time in Santa Fe.

The furniture was comfortable, the bed is a true King and firm but not hard with nice sheets and pillows. There are windows that open in the bedroom with screens and it faces the courtyard. There is a large dresser and two armoires with plenty of room for our clothes, and a nightstand on one side. There is a HUGE Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but we did not use it because we didn't want to use that much water. We visited Ten Thousand Waves spa instead, which I highly recommend. There was plenty of hot water for showers and we never ran out. The living room/dining area/kitchen are all in an open concept area. There are plenty of dishes, pots and pans (well used frying pans should be replaced), and silverware. Dishwasher works good, but it is noisy, so we turned it on and went into town. There was some oil for cooking, salt and pepper, and few spices. Also plastic bags, saran wrap, foil etc. which is always nice for taking lunches we made with us for hiking expeditions. The casita was exceptionally clean.

The wifi was fast and there is a nice little sound system. We never did turn on the TV or use the fireplace. We had to use the furnace for a few minutes in the morning to take off the chill and it worked very well. The patio was great with some very comfortable Adirondack chairs, a lounge chair, and table for four. We did have an issue getting in the front door with the key (could not get it to unlock) and some directions for that would be helpful.

There is a very nice, well stocked co-op for groceries called La Montanita just blocks away on Alameda. Next to it is a coffee shop called Better Day that makes an excellent breakfast burrito and has Stumptown coffee. Both within walking distance. The neighborhood is filled with historic casitas and bungalows that add to the beautiful Santa Fe charm. I would definitely stay here and again and highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Dear Jan and Kevin, Thank you very much for your high praise. I am glad that you thought that the bed was comfortable. I had just bought a new bed and you were the first to sleep on it! I am sorry that you felt that the frying pans need to be replaced. I did a thorough inspection of everything in the casita before you arrived and thought the pans were okay. I will check again. We would be very pleased to have you as return guests on your next trip to Santa Fe. Regards, Roxanne

Quiet, clean and charming

  • 5 of 5

The casita was quiet, clean, charming and well located. Didn't hear a peep out of other two casita renters across the shared courtyard. Property is located on a tiny, dead end street. It was great to have a full kitchen to alternate leafy meals with the delicious but somewhat starchy "New Mex Mex" food of the area!

Good base camp for day trips to regional parks, monuments, other cities and bountiful scenic glories.

Great for a couple or small family. Only heads up is that bathroom access is only via the bedroom so if others are using the pull-out couch in the living room--covered with a comfy, thick mattress pad--they'll need to step softly at night.)

A very nice place to stay.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN SANTA FE

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful little apartment, GREAT location, everything you need in Santa Fe! It was a 10-minute walk to the central plaza and even closer to the Railyards area. The apartment had a lovely huge jetted bath, a fireplace with plenty of wood available to make a cozy fire and a lovely little private courtyard area. The things that really put this place above and beyond were the excellent value and all of the goodies and extras that we found when we arrived. It is VERY important to my husband and I to have coffee in the morning, so we stopped at a nearby gas station for coffee and milk as we arrived quite late. When we arrived we discovered not only had coffee and milk been left for us, but also a delicious bread from whole foods, butter, jam, cookies, chocolates, and perhaps I am missing something! This was SO greatly appreciated as were the availability of shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, and everything we needed for a week-long stay. We would definately come back to this lovely casita!

Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. P, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. That is what our aim is; to make our guests feel taken care of. I guess you are back in lots of snow now. We had about three inches last night, and by Thursday it is supposed to be 62 degrees! We very much appreciate your booking and hope that you return. Regards, Roxanne
