What a great place to spend a couple of weeks on the outer Cape with your family. Plenty of room inside and outside. Very kid friendly. Although the house is not situated on the water, it is but a short drive to Corn Hill Beach or any of the other beautiful beaches in Truro. Corn Hill, the nearest beach is on the bayside or the inside of the Cape. There is plenty of parking(beach sticker required). At low tide, my four and five year old grandchildren can walk out a quarter mile in the warm, clear, shallow water.
The house has a washer and dryer on the main floor along with a beautiful large outdoor deck with a gas grill. The yard is large enough to play a small softball game, or Bocci or Horseshoes(and no poison ivy).
The house is situated on a somewhat secluded road, away from the sounds of car traffic. Provincetown with all of it's interesting shops and great restaurants is but a ten minute drive away.
And the landlord is great! This is our fourth year coming to this house and my family always looks forward to the special times that we have there.
My family and I stayed here for a week and it was one of the nicest houses we've stayed at on the Cape. Very clean and comfortable and the space was absolutely perfect for our large group. You definitely have enough room to spread out in this house and still find privacy as needed. Neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful, exactly what I was hoping for. We had a beautiful week in Truro here and we hope to return again!
What a great decision to book a week here for a family get together! It's a super location on a quiet, dead end country lane, with no road noise and privacy and yet just a bike ride away from the beach and 15 minutes from the center of Provincetown. By far the best house we have ever rented on the Cape and the owner, Miriam was always kind and helpful and never intrusive. The house has a great layout with 2 ensuite bedrooms and 3 double bedrooms, and lots of great spaces to hang out. ( 2 living rooms, the dining room, the screened porch, a large deck with BBQ and balconies as well as a nice lawn in the back . It was perfect for me and my husband and 2 of my grown children and a couple of small grand kids and my mother, my sister and her 2 young teens also were able to come for a few few days. (There are some pull out cots that the owner keeps in the closet that are good for small children.) The kitchen was well equipped, ( gas stove) the beds are comfortable and the linens are cotton, all very important factors in my book! Such a happy holiday! Would love to stay again!
We have stayed in this beautiful vacation home several times and just love it! Our adult children mark it on their calendars and can't wait for 'Cape Cod' each year. What a wonderful home to have all of our family under one roof. We enjoy the short distance to the beach...lots of space for preparing family meals...doing puzzles...watching movies...reading books...playing games inside and out! There are also lots of great things to do nearby like going to the ocean-side beaches, the Truro vineyard, shopping in Provincetown and having delicious home-made ice cream. My family can't wait until next year!
Miriam and Todd are about when needed and everything is so beautiful! We look forward to our visit every year!
Where to start? Miriam and Todd's attentive yet unobtrusive help (when needed). The spacious grounds and house. The lovely decks and screened porch. The songbirds in the trees. The thoughtful details - like the nighttime lighting in the entry stairs. The proximity to ocean and bay beaches and Snow Pond. And to Provincetown and Wellfleet. The restful rural character of Truro itself.
The house gave than promised. We are virtually all our meals in, and the kitchen and dining room were just fine.
Our family get-together in late June was heaven. It doesn't get better than this.
Truro is perfectly situated on the Cape- 10 minutes in either direction will bring you to exciting Provincetown with it's shops, live theater, night life, fine dining, a great Health Food store, whale watching, National Seashore, Pilgrim Monument & swimming, fishing & boating, or historic Welfleet, where you will find artists, cafes, more theater, live music (like that at the legendary BeachComber), Hatches fresh Fish Market for lobster or oysters, and the movie theater, Drive-In, and huge flea market. Here in Truro you can visit a lighthouse, play golf, ride a bike, take an art class at Castle Hill, check out a book, CD, DVD, or get online at the library, shop for heaths & heathers at 1 of the 2 nurseries, spend the day at one of more than 8 lovely beaches, or stop by town center for a fresh pastry, gourmet coffee, or deli sandwich. These are just a few of the many things our neck of the woods has to offer!
Other Activities: Theater, art classes & galleries, Sport Fishing, Summer Recreation (ages 6-12, right down the road), Flea Market, swimming
Golf: 'Heralded as Cape Cod's oldest golf course, perhaps its most scenic, the Highland Links in North Truro is one of America's golf treasures, perched high along windswept bluffs overlooking the Atlantic next to the vintage Cape Cod Light. Founded in 1892, Highland recently celebrated a hundred years of golf. More than significant than its age is Highland's heritage; circumstances keep it a genuine links, as close to the Scottish tradition found anywhere in the eastern United States, with deep natural rough, Scotch broom, heath, non irrigated open fairways, and spectacular ocean views.
The original 'Highland House Golf Links' was part of an ocean hotel and cottage resort operated for year by the Small family of Truro, who promoted the course as '2000 yards around...in attractiveness not equaled in the New England coast.' Francis Ouimet, the legendary U.S. amateur, played an exhibition round here after its original sand greens were converted to grass.'
