About LouBeeLure: LouBeeLure is not a commercial establishment, but a vacation home owned by two sisters, whose names are Lou and Bee. It is made available to guests on the same basis that it is used by our families - that they will be caring and considerate in their use of the property and leave it in a condition that a subsequent visitor will find attractive and welcoming. As such, we do not require a deposit for damage.
My sister, Lou, and I grew up in Spartanburg, SC, and the waters of Lake Lure were our “playground" for fun times with family and friends. Our memories of summer are filled with sharing all that life on a beautiful mountain lake has to offer: swimming, skiing, boating, floating, sunning, relaxing, hiking,…all punctuated with laughter, games, skits, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and shared meals around the table. Lou and I purchased and enjoy LouBeeLure in the tradition of our roots: to keep our family continually connected in joyous fun as we grow and geography separates us.
We are blessed being by this perfect lake and the allure of the mountains drawing all those we love to us. We hope to share our blessing and offer a vacation rental with friend and family camaraderie as the main goal.
M. Bee Jones purchased this house in 2000
Lakefront, big water rather than a small, closely packed, tucked away cove;
Location is especially convenient: easy drive from the interstate & 5 minutes to the grocery store;
Loved the seemingly private neighborhood…car traffic at a bare minimum;
Liked the coziness of an older, traditional home;
Morning sun / afternoon shade.
We have been returning for many years each summer to this very comfortable and inviting home located on Yacht Island on beautiful Lake Lure. From the our first visit to the house several years ago we fell in love and knew we had found our annual summer vacation rental. This house will remind some of you of vacations from your youth when parents, grandparents and kids would all gather at a lake or beach house for a week of visiting, fun, and relaxation.
The home is laid out in three levels. The very top level holds a large loft bedroom with a California King bed, and a small bathroom. The Main level has 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bath, living room (with fireplace), and an exterior deck overlooking the lake. The lower level has an additional bedroom with twin beds, a bathroom, small laundry/utility room, a nice size den/tv/game room, and a very large exterior covered deck with rocking chairs and tables overlooking the lake.
There is a wooden walkway leading down to the boathouse and lakeside deck. A canoe and kayak are provided for guests use. We spend most of our days on this deck, playing in the lake, or relaxing with a good book.
In the evenings we while away the hours on the covered back deck of the house, laughing, telling stories, listening to music and enjoying a glass of wine or ice cold beer.
The owners of this home are tremendously gracious and show great concern that guests are well taken care of and the home is in top order for your stay. Over the years they have continued to make investments in the house, updating and adding amenities.
For me, this home is all about comfort and relaxation. Each year we anxiously await the time we can return to the lake and our cherished LouBeeLure!
We look forward to returning to this wonderful vacation home every year. I believe we are in our 10th year of spending a relaxing, sun soaked week enjoying the lake here. This house and it's amenities fits our needs perfectly. It's a wood paneled 1950's style mountain cabin with a huge stone fireplace in the living room. There are large chalet style windows on the front of the house affording plenty of sunlight and fantastic views of Lake Lure in the open living room/dining room/kitchen area. The home is always immaculately clean. The provided linens and sheets are also super soft and spotless. And I've never encountered an air conditioning system that can cool a house as thoroughly as the one in this home.
Although the inside amenities suit us perfectly, for us, the outside amenities are what keep us coming back year after year! There is a HUGE covered porch on the home's lower deck overlooking the "million dollar view" of the lake that is simply awesome to behold. The rocking chairs keep us on this porch for hours and hours in the late afternoon and late into the evening. Light a few candles out there and it is pure magical. Then you've got the stairs leading down to an additional outdoor lounging area on top of the boathouse. If you want do some sun-soaking, this is place for it. A few steps further down and you're on the deck on the water. This is our daytime headquarters. There is a canoe, kayak and life preservers provided for your enjoyment. And usually there are a generous assortment of inflatables for floating on the water. We love it down on that deck.
I just returned from this year's trip on the lake a couple of weeks ago but writing this review makes me long for another week there this year before the summer season ends. I don't think I can last another year!
I highly recommend this mountain rental. It's perfect for families with kids. And even for kids like us: 50 somethings that revert to childhood when we visit this paradise! Enjoy!
This was our 5th rental on Lake Lure and we loved it! We had 5 people staying there and had more than enough room. The kitchen had everything we needed. The view are fantastic and we spent many afternoon swimming and just hanging out by the boathouse. We used the canoe, kayak and took advantage of the many noodles and inner tubes to float around the island. You truly feel like ou are getting away from it all when you drive onto the island and there is virtually no traffic there which can't be said for some of the lake house near busier streets. I highly recommend The Gorges ziplining in Saluda for anyone interested. Thanks for all your helpful suggestions Bee! John
This is a great little hide away spot, centrally located on Lake Lure. I loved the location on the small island and driving across the bridge daily,... added to the feeling of getting away. Almost like I was getting away, on my get away. ; )
The house has a great view and I enjoyed being high up with the trees. Almost like a tree house with a water view. Quaintly decorated inside which reminds me of a swiss chalet I rented some years ago. It's got a similar feel.
All the amenities you need and a quiet spot for some relaxed time on the water. Short 5 minute drive to the grocery store and to Larkin's for dinner. Very convenient.
Clean, well looked after and a little slice of peace, this is a great hide away at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed it very much. Thank You.

I spent a perfect, relaxing weekend at LouBeeLure. The house was well maintained and had everything we needed. The interior was very clean and spacious, yet cozy. The large porches were relaxing and equipped with plenty of seating, plus a grill for outdoor dining! The dock was perfect for sunbathing and enjoying views of this picturesque lake. The water was chilly, but we enjoyed canoeing out to the middle of the lake. I highly recommend LouBeeLure for families or groups of friends looking for a retreat. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
I spend a fabulous weekend here lounging on the deck and sitting fireside in the evenings! The water was too cold for swimming but there were plenty of space to enjoy the sunshine and watch the boats drive by! Great space and amenities, beautiful scenery, convinient location (close to grocery, hiking trails, "downtown" lake lure). I will absolutely return!
