We are Kansas City Natives...born and bred to vacation on the Lake of the Ozarks, MO! My parents had a 'cabin' in the headwaters area of the river which eventually was covered by Truman Lake. They relocated to a development near Warsaw, so weekends at the lake were a part of my growing years. We 'raised' our children to do the same with EVERY vacation located at the lake. Now we have the great blessing of teaching our grandchildren the value of family times at the Lake of the Ozarks in the great state of Missouri!
Peggy/Ron purchased this house in 2005
This property is very conveniently located to friends and family at the lake and in Kansas City. An easy drive from Kansas City, makes our end of the lake very appealing. Add to this, our desire to have relaxing and peaceful getaways with family and friends...there is no better place than our own place at the lake! Our lifetime goal was to 'have a place for our family' ... praying for a VIEW of sunsets from 'every room', we knew our prayers had been answered the minute we stepped foot into this haven of rest we experienced an amazing, jaw-dropping sunset!! We have acquired a fine collection of beautiful photographic memories that remind us that each and every one is unique and special to the day, whatever the season! Come enjoy them at our place, and ENJOY the view from the outdoor spa as well. We truly believe we have a breath-taking view that is not easily matched in the area rentals! No crowded cove traffic or obnoxious neighbors at our place! And, we aim to keep it that way :o)
Looking forward to retirement years, we see this as our primary future home and, in the meantime, see this blessing as an opportunity to share with others who might enjoy it as we do. Every season has its special joys, but there is nothing quite like the blossoms of Spring and new life, or the chill of Fall with a cozy fire to warm you with views of radiant fall color and wildlife activity. Breathtaking sunsets and early morning mist! Come ENJOY the VIEW!!
Enjoyed the dock and fishing--paddleboat was fun. The two grandsons (age 2 and 4) learned to fish with help from Grandpa. Rented a pontoon for a day and cruised the area--ate at the Jolly Rogers and Coconuts. Golfed two courses; shopped at Osage Beach Outlet and visited Bridal Cave. The house was just the perfect size for us! Thanks for the great place by the lake!
House was as described. Owners very responsive to questions before and upon arrival. Good fishing from the dock and boat traffic on soap cove not very crowded- allowed us to tube with the kids and not feel like we were going to get run over. Great restaurants within a short boat or car drive. Would definitely recommend for a family getaway!
We just recently got back from our trip to the Peace O'Heaven home, and let me tell you it lives up to the name. The home was in impeccable shape and did not vary from the beautiful pictures at all. The home was a great getaway, it was very quiet the entire stay, met one of the neighbors super nice guy. The Dock was great for fishing while we didn't have a whole lot of success, but no fault placed anywhere for that, turns out we are really bad at fishing :). The sunsets and nights are beautiful and peaceful, we sat on the dock most of the nights just waiting for the sunset in all of its glory.
Ron and Peggy were also amazing, the few questions we had they were responding to us withing minutes. Best experience with a home owner on Homeaway or VBRO. I would Highly Recommend the home and hope that we can get on the list for next year soon!
I chose Peace O'Heaven for our family summer vacation spot, and was completely happy with my choice! We stayed at this beautiful property from June 12-18th, and had an amazing time fishing, riding our new Wave Runner, and just relaxing in the well-appointed home.
I'm a hard-core fisherman, and was extremely happy with the number of bass I was able to catch right from the dock. That is, when my 7-year old son wasn't keeping me busy taking Blue Gill off his hook and rebaiting his line (he must have caught 100 of these fish, many of them a great size).
I had also just purchased a new Wave Runner, and was thrilled to be able to use the property's boat lift to keep my boat out of the water and secure when we weren't using it. The kids especially loved the slide into the water, and spent hours going up and down while the grown ups took advantage of the peaceful dock for relaxing/chatting. We found this location to be ideal, since it was a short 5-hour drive from Omaha Nebraska. The water was beautiful and the perfect temperature, and the boat traffic was very light, allowing us to enjoy tubing right in front of the home without fear of being ran over.
The road to get to the property is fairly steep and somewhat tricky, especially pulling a boat, but once you arrive at the actual home, there is plenty of space for a couple of vehicles and/or boat. My dad and I almost brought our motorcycles down for the ride, but we were glad we didn't, because it would have been very difficult to navigate the gravel path to the home on our heavy cruiser-style motorcycles.
The home itself was very well stocked with everything we needed for our week there. The large patio was where a couple of our family members spent the majority of their time, and the view of the water was spectacular from the entire patio and main floor of the home.
The owners did a fantastic job of providing us with information regarding the house before we arrived, and were very helpful answering a couple of questions we had while we were there.
We had a blast making the short boat ride to Coconuts, where we enjoyed the beach, swimming pool, and wonderful restaurant.
Despite some serious monsoonal rains we encountered during our stay, we had a spectacular time and will definitely return next year! Thanks to Ron and Peggy for sharing their beautiful Peace O'Heaven with us!
We rented for a month, the property was clean the owners were very nice to work with. We were able to bring our little maltese with which was nice. It was a very nice cove to ski and tube in and not far from bars and restaurants. The lane to get down to the house was a little tricky, not easy to jog on. If we needed to stay again I would go back.
My family and I have stayed at Peace O' Heaven for the past two summers and we've made reservations for this summer as well. We love every aspect of the vacation home. The location on the lake is wonderful. The house is very well equipped with everything you need and the interior furnishings are gorgeous. We loved that the house has two picnic tables on the patio - each with an umbrella for shade. There is also a table on the dock where you can enjoy a lovely picnic lunch while watching the kids swim and ride in the paddleboat. The hot tub at the end of the day is divine. The homeowners, Peggy and Ron, do everything possible to make their home feel like yours for the week. We feel blessed and thank them for opening it up to us again this year.
We loved everything from the quiet, peaceful early morning coffee on the patio, to swimming and fishing off the dock, to relaxing in the hot tub when it cooled off at night. My favorite part of this house is the huge patio with lots of seating. We ate every meal outside except when it was raining! The house was very clean and comfortable and Peggy was wonderful to work with. We would definitely stay here again!
