I am an owner manager and have lived on the island for over 40 years. Providing personal care to my guests to make sure they have a memorable Hawaiian vacation is my top priority. My two grown children grew up, spending their childhood experience along the ocean at the back yard of this property.
Owner purchased this House in 1987
Why Owner chose Hauula
We are right on the ocean, nothing between the property and the water. There is a reef two hundred yards away, creating a safe spot for swimming & snorkeling. Turtles are seen swimming at the backyard. The mountains in this area are especially lush. My children grew up in this home, thus it means a lot to us. My wish is to extend the aloha to all of my guests who stay at Hale Makani Kai so that their vacation will be full.

We enjoyed our stay
Classic HI beach bungalow, with a great view! Owner was very responsive, friendly, and helpful. We would book again in the future! Great location also.
Thank you, the Petersons for having stayed with us. Aloha from Tish
Property was right on the ocean!
Backyard steps lead right to the water, recommend water shoes cause it is rocky but enjoyable! Beach just 3 houses away! House was clean and tidy and quite. Centrally located from major attractions! And 30 minutes from the airport!!! Has the basic essentials !!! Toa luau and climbworks zip lining was awesome
We thank you so much for the Welches for having stayed with us. Aloha from Tish
Right on the water.
Close to PCC and beaches. Enjoyed our stay.
Thank you and your family for having stayed with us.
Much aloha and mahalo from Tish.
We all had wonderful days there!
Thank you Kun and your family for having stayed with us. Hopefully you can have a longer visit next time.
Aloha from Tish
Great views of ocean, comfortable.
Trisha was easy to work with. The house was clean and beds comfortable. You can't Get closer to the ocean. A great place for wading! Easy location and so close to the Polynesian Cultural Center. My only complaint is that the house is right on the highway and you hear lots of cars when in the back bedrooms. The fan muffles much of the noise and it looks like almost all the houses in this part of Hawaii are located right off the road. We would stay here again.
Much mahalo to the Brices for having stayed with us. Aloha from Tish
We stayed from April 8-18, 2018 and had an awesome time. Tish was so sweet and met us at the house really late at night after our flight landed to make sure we had everything we needed.
Just a few things to note:
-you can’t really swim in front of the house because it’s rocky. We traveled all over the island to other beaches, which we were totally ok with! The north shore beaches are wayyy to rough this time of year for little children (we traveled with two six year old boys and a three year old), so we were mostly having to leave the North Shore area daily since they wanted to be in the water. We didn’t mind having to drive because it gave them a good chance to take a nap.
-We needed extra pillows, so we went to WalMart and bought some. We left them there for future guests, so you should be set there!
-The traffic is loud out side the window. We were thankful we brought our small portable fans with us to block out the noise. The small room with the pull out couch gets really hot and doesn’t have a window unit (which it really needs), so we stuck two of our little fans in there. Maybe Tish (the home owner) could purchase a few to keep at the property for future guests?
-overall, we loved the house. It was quaint, not too expensive, and served it’s purpose for our family. We would stay here again and we would recommend this property to other people.
Hauula was a small fishing village on the northeastern coast of Oahu, with most homes designed and used as beach houses. Today, it is known as a weekend hideaway for city folks as well as a local artists' community. Since we are located at the coastal area, all sorts of ocean activities such as swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing and surfing make your stay filled with fun. You may also want to take a scenic drive up the North along Kamehameha Hwy. The Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Resort and Golf Course, Sunset Beach, Waimea Beach, and historic Haleiwa Town are within 5 to 30 minutes drive. Grocery stores are 2-4 miles away. Hauula Loop Trail is a little known yet excellent hiking spot nearby. Other Activities: hiking
