Great location

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at 4 Star cottage. The location was perfect. Easy walk to the beach and a great road for a bike ride. The house had everything we needed. We look are already looking forward to next year.

Nice getaway

  • 4 of 5

Sweet little cottage in a great location. Rustic Maine charm, yet quite comfortable. Great living area with gas fireplace, solidly stocked kitchen, front and back decks. Five minute walk from Pemaquid Beach and a short drive to New Harbor. There is no dishwasher, and the master bedroom could probably use a new mattress. Otherwise, no complaints - we really enjoyed our stay and love this area of Maine!

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay at 4Stars cottage, the close proximity to Pemaquid beach and other attractions. Thank you for sharing some of your favorite amenities, we want guests to experience ease and relaxation. We are sorry to hear the Tempurpedic mattress in the downstairs bedroom was questionable for you. If unfamiliar with it's qualities it can appear unusual. We installed it for comfort; it is often shared as a highlight of a stay at the cottage. Yes, Pemaquid is a very special area and we do hope you will return to enjoy the magic of its old fashioned charm and friendly people.

Quiet, peaceful and Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My little girl and I had the most wonderful time. The cottage is so bright and cheerful. It has everything you need to have a relaxing vacation. The cottage was immaculate and was well stocked with everything you need, if you should want to cook a meal. The temperpedic bed was heavenly, hadn't slept that well in a long time. I loved touring around the area, so many beautiful quiet spots including the white sand beach that is across the street. It looks like it could be in the Caribbean, just beautiful! I am hoping to make this an annual vacation.

A true serenity getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was my fourth trip to 4 Stars. This is our favorite place to vacation. Everything in the cabin is so clean and well coordinated. We had lovely walks on the beach and the Pemaquid Trail, and relaxing games of Gin Rummy on the handmade birch kitchen table. The owner thought of everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, even a nice selection of movies to watch.

Guestbook comments from the owner

All the family enjoyed Pemaquid Point and the cottage. It was a very nice choice we made when we decided to come here! (Choice by never know!).

A lot of fun all the week visiting the area, eating lobsters, playing in the sand, and visiting the Island. Beaux souvenirs pour toute la famille. We all hope to come back one day!

Thank you! The cottage is very nice. Chaleureux et comfortable.

This property is a place to get away from it all or take advantage of many unusual activities in the area. Four Stars is only 150 steps through a fir tree forest to a crescent shaped white sugar sand beach. The cottage is set back 80 feet from the road offering room for a game of croquet or perhaps just relax in the hammock. The sunny deck out back offers lounge chairs and a dining table with umbrella.

You are within walking distance of an historic fort from 1600's, nature trails and equipment rentals for water activities. There is a wonderful old fashioned food market nearby that is open year round (notice the oiled wood floors) with quality fresh produce and items from the sea, and all the necessities. Also there is no need to cook! A great selection of local restaurants featuring delicious home made food awaits. Enjoy fresh lobster, seafood and other offerings outside on the harbor deck. Have breakfast(best blueberry pancakes) by the Pemaquid Lighthouse and take in the full view of the crashing waves on the iconic rock ledge formation. Or have lunch at The Cupboard down the road. Great food and they make the best pecan rolls and cinnamon buns on the planet. They ship these in the off season- great for gift giving.

Shop at outlets in Freeport. Drive to the Wyeth Museum in Rockland, the Maritime Museum in Bath or scenic Camden all of these within an hour away. Antique/Collectibles stores abound, weekly estate auctions and there is even a fun Toy Museum in the area. Enjoy The Pemaquid Oyster Festival or the popular 'Olde Bristol Days' with music, vendors, a parade and fireworks.

Take the Ferry (less than a mile away) to Monhegan Island, with just a short ride you are in one of the oldest artist's communities in the country.

Other Activities: croquet, coffee drinking, stargazing

Golf: Wawenock Golf Club

Their Mission:

'To provide opportunities for the entire community -- young and old, rich and poor -- to learn, play, and practice the game of golf on a high quality course at the most affordable price possible, consistent with our not-for-profit status.'

'Located on Route 129 in Walpole, Maine, just 5 miles South of Damariscotta, Wawenock Golf Club is a nine hole, links-style course, that opened for play in 1928. The fairways are generally open, with very few trees. The greens are moderately sized and average 5,000 square feet, and are relatively flat and moderate in speed. Water comes into play on two holes. There are alternate tees when playing an eighteen hole round and the course plays from 5,500 to 6,200-yards.'

'We offer many events and tournaments sign ups are limited so please check in and reserve your spot in our next event.

Wawenock Golf Club is truly one of Maine's hidden treasures. Stop by and enjoy a day of golf down on the coast.'
