} Guest Book: We made it here very easily last night and are thrilled. We also did the hike this morning and loved it - went to the top of Mt. Guardian as per your notes, and found that secret vantage point where you look out at Cooper Lake... Hiked overlook mountain yesterday - the views were astonishing - though we were not brave enough to go the distance to Indian Head. We also found our way to the swimming hole and absolutely loved it... As I'm sure you can tell, we love it up here and wanted to see if you'd be interested in renting the house to us Columbus Day weekend... Certainly a bit of a shock to be back in the city after our days on Mt. Guardian.
Guest Book: We really enjoyed ourselves in the Catskills and the house was lovely - exactly what we were after. I think we saw a bobcat although I confess to being ignorant of North American wildlife. We saw it reasonably close to the house. In any case, we loved staying in your charming forest getaway. Everything was fantastic and the hike from the house to the view was such a bonus. Also an activity you can include for future guests is inner tubing in Phoenica. What a blast!

Fell in love with it while helping a friend look for a place!
Cozy, private, great kitchen and grill, sitting out on the porch. Enjoying the pond ecosystem and the animals that visit is really wonderful.
Our stay at Raymond and Maura's was beyond words. So much so that I almost want to keep it a secret!! This place is out of a fairytale. If you want to get away from the stress of the city and take a breather, this is the perfect spot. It has everything you need to cook, clean towels and sheets, even snow shoes and a sled! There are also a variety of very interesting books! The place is clean, cozy and bright. And the hosts were super nice, helpful and responsive. This is by far the best airbnb experience I've had!
We couldn't have found a better place for Thanksgiving. The cabin is perfect for two couples, with ample space to cook and relax. The owner was very helpful to help us plan the weekend, and we found actually a very well equipped kitchen, a cosy cabin (obviously regularly used by the owner but not so much that you feel you are intruding).
We can't wait to come back in the spring to enjoy the screened porch, or another time to use the wood stove that kept us warm. It was 10 min from Woodstock, and 1h from Hudson, which gave us two great destinations to enjoy. Needless to say, it was so nice, we spent more time in the cabin than intended.
We had a lovely time at Cabin Doh-Ray. The property was gorgeous and private and the house was beautiful and cozy and comfortable and charming. We had everything we needed and were close to town and hiking trails. We look forward to coming back again!
We very much enjoyed the cabin. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. The location and property are the perfect environment for a relaxing mountain getaway. Highly recommended!
Cabin Doh-Ray provided a wonderful week-long getaway for my husband, me and our dog. The cabin is situated in such a way that you feel like you've escaped the madness, but yet it's still quite convenient to get to Woodstock and other surrounding towns - a perfect combination. The house itself is very comfortable and provides pretty much anything I think you could want (the kitchen is stocked with small appliances and amenities I don't even have in my full-time home!). The cabin aesthetic is really well-done - not too rustic, but just right. Like other travelers, we loved the screened porch! The views of the woods from the windows are great, and we got to experience the light of the full moon through the skylight in one of the upstairs bedrooms. The owners were quick to respond to any question - of which we had few thanks to the information and instructions received before we arrived. The property was clean and met or surpassed our expectations based on online photos/descriptions. I would definitely recommend this to friends and hope that we can return ourselves!
Because our number one goal was relaxation, we opted to eat out quite a bit and enjoyed wonderful meals at Woodstock restaurants including The Garden Cafe, The Red Onion, Oriole 9, and Yum Yum Noodle Bar. As vegetarians, we were very pleasantly surprised at the variety of really interesting meal choices we had. If you're there outside of the high summer season, check schedules - restaurants were sometimes closed on odd days of the week.
All in all, a great cabin in a great spot. We really appreciate the style of the owners and are so happy they share Cabin Doh-Ray!
Me and my family simply loved Cabin Doh-Ray! It was the perfect combination of rustic and mid-century style with the location secluded but just close enough to downtown Woodstock. Our stay exceeded our expectations in every way, and the owners were excellent with answering any questions we had. Me and my family are already day dreaming about our next return.
The cabin is tucked in the woods off a private road with spacious property around it. It is sweet, comfortable, and charmingly furnished. Very private yet unbelievably just about 10 minutes from Woodstock. Hiking abounds. Just the best getaway!
5 Day Min July, Aug, Christmas - Surrounded by the forests of Mt. Guardian at an altitude of almost 1500 feet, you are high enough to keep cool in the summer and experience a winter wonderland of snow in the winter. Hunter and Belleayre ski resorts are only 30-40 minutes away.
To get there you turn off the main road in Woodstock and start the steep climb to the house. Off to the right stretches the Indian Head Wilderness, with its miles of challenging hiking trails winding through the Catskill High Peaks. Turn onto the private gravel road that climbs up Mt. Guardian and you soon arrive at the house, set in a beautiful grove of hemlocks, only four miles from the great shops and restaurants of Woodstock.
PLEASE NOTE: 4WD is strongly recommended in the winter as the cabin is on a steep mountain road that can be a challenging drive in the snow.
Other Activities: Hike to the viewpoint above the house, go to the swimming hole, take fly fishing lessons. There's Opus40 and Big Pink too, as well as the Midnight Ramble events at Levon Helm's house!
