Asheville Area Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 14-16)

Nestled up against Greybeard Mountain, in historic Montreat is this deluxe mountain cottage where you can feel the cool mountain breezes in the hot North Carolina summers. This house, built in 1997 was designed to easily accommodate two large families. Sit and enjoy a family meal at the dining table that seats 14. Listen to the night noises of a screech owl or cicada as you relax in the evening on the spacious screened porch. A fully equipped kitchen has everything you have at home and more, and a new home theatre system and wireless broadband internet provides connection to the outside world (if you desire it).

Kids enjoy foosball, hiking, rock hoping in the streams, playing basketball, tennis, or the Montreat clubs for kids. During the summer, enjoy throwing a pot on a potter's wheel at the Sally Jones Craft center or take a paddle boat ride on Lake Susan. Montreat Conference Center hosts a variety of conferences for all ages sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (USA). Hear a sermon preached at Anderson Auditorium by one of America's finest preachers. Bushwack up behind the house and catch the gray blaze trail that will take you all the way up to the Lookout Mountain summit.

Asheville (the Biltmore Estate, the Grove Park Inn and Resort) are 20 minutes. Lake Lure is 25 minutes. Enjoy white water on either the French Broad or the Nanahala. Skiing is available 75 minutes away. Drive 1 hour to the summit of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain on the East Coast. Drive 1 hour to the Occunaluftee village in Cherokee. See live Shakespeare performed at the Asheville Center Stage.

Awesome!

  • 5 of 5

Group of friends stayed as this wonderful cottage over the memorial weekend while hiking and exploring the Asheville area. It had everything that we needed and was very spacious (there was 13 of us). The owner was very accommodating and was available to answer our calls before and during our stay. I highly recommend this place for large group trips and also hope to stay here again in the future!

Ladies Church Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had our Ladies Church Retreat at "Montreat Is As Close To Heaven As You Can Get". The name seemed appropriate. It was easy once we chose our dates. Diane, the property manager was very accommodating and made it easy for us to secure the house for the weekend. I had a lot of questions and because Diane had stayed at the house she had the answers I needed. There were 12 of us and It was perfect for our weekend. The had everything we needed. The kitchen had lots of dishes, pots and pans; that made our weekend easier because we didn't have to bring any of those items. It was alittle rainy that weekend but many of us still spent time on the screened-in porch. There were a couple of tables and rocking chairs, it was very relaxing. It had a DVD and we used that for our series we are studying of Beth Moore. We did go over to the college and visited the painting of the "Prodigal". It was minutes from the house and it was one of the highlight's of the weekend. We were very fortunate that one of the volunteers was working that day and she spent at least 30 minutes explaining the painting to us. A must see! When we started our search we wanted to be about an hour away. This house was and it was so perfect for us. One of the many highlights of the house was the BIG table, there were enough seats for all of us to sit at the table at the same time and share our meals and lots of conversations. At the end of the retreat we really did feel that we had been very close to heaven.

exceptional place for family reunion

  • 5 of 5

our family has not been together for many years since we live on three continents! The opportunity to all be together in Montreat, a place of treasured memories, was excellent. There were places for all to be together as well as the secret hiding room and passages for childrens delight, and comfortable lounging and talking areas. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great for three day family reunion

  • 5 of 5

It was incredible how everything worked together for good in this house to enable family interaction for the twelve (8 adults and 4 children) of us who stayed there and the other twelve who came in for sharing times (but stayed in Assembly Inn and Black Mountain). The bedrooms, kitchen, living room, screened porch, bathrooms, etc were more than adequate. Although there was a new extra-large flat screen TV/DVD setup, I don't think anyone turned it on the entire time. We are very thankful to God, to the owners, and to VRBO for a taste of Heaven in this beautiful five bedroom house in mountain woods!

Perfect for family gathering

Our group of six adults and five children thoroughly enjoyed our Spring Break stay at this home. It was conveniently close to Asheville and Biltmore Estate. Montreat is a quaint little town with lots of charm. We would love to visit again!

We Thoroughly Enjoyed Our Stay at this Home

  • 5 of 5

Very well designed home that handled our group of 9 very well. The large screened porch was used everyday for meals and fellowship. The porch was a nice added plus for this home. Many hiking trails can be found very close to this home. The Internet service was excellent. We would recommend this rental to anyone. It was comfortable and in a great location.
