Guestbook comments from the owner

5 ladies came from Maine to celebrate one of our birthdays. We totally enjoyed your home. What a wonderful place to spend 10 days at. We loved relaxing by the pool and going to Fort Myers Beach. We are sad to leave tomorrow but we have been told most of the snow is gone back home. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home.

Quiet and Easy

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a really pleasant stay in this villa. The view out of the kitchen, living room and bedroom to the pool and canal is relaxing and energizing together. The interior and entertainment equipment is not the latest and greatest, but everything we needed was there. We rented also a boat. It takes about 1.5 hours to drive from the villa out to the river and sea, but the drive along the canal is also relaxing.

Two star would have been 5 star

  • 2 of 5

This villa is in a lovely scenic quiet setting and initial feelings was marvellous, until we saw the pool. It was full of algae and green in colour and took a week to sought out before we could swim in it. I understand that this problem was known about 4 days before our arrival and that the Poolman had informed the agents prior to this about problems with this pool. once clear it was a lovely pool to swim in. 10 days into our stay the Garage remote failed which made life difficult for a wheelchair user. The agents were informed and sent an instruction manual which meant climbing a ladder to attend to the roof mounted unit. I was informed there was no maintainance man so for the next two and a half weeks we had to do this manually. It was not until the wifi blew out in a thunderstorm and after three days of misunderstanding that both wifi and and garage remote were repaired. It was such a shame because we could of had a wonderful 5 star holiday here.

Owner's Response: Firstly, the pool company had not reported any problems to the property manager or the property owner. Had they of done, the issue would have been quickly resolved. You demanded financial compensation for the loss of use of the swimming pool for a few days of your one month stay. A $ amount was agreed and you accepted that. The pool maintenance company adjusted the chlorine level of the pool and the issue was solved as quickly as possible. The pool maintenance company has since been fired and a new company contracted. Additionally, the pool system has since been updated and switched over to salt water system. Such a system doesn't use liquid or tablet chlorine and is proven to be a healthier solution for all future guests to benefit from. It's something that most other vacation homes don't offer. Secondly, the remote control for the garage door has since been checked and inspected and reprogrammed back onto the system. It works fine. The is a huge (I mean HUGE) button on the wall, in the garage, by the utility room door, that opens and closes the garage door without the need of a remote control. Pretty much every home in the USA that has an electric garage door opener has an exact same button ON THE WALL. When I mean on 'on the wall' it is at the exact height of a light switch. Therefore nobody had to climb any ladders and nobody had to 'manually' open the door! To claim such a thing is absolutely absurd. To open the garage door electronically by pushing a button on the wall, at light switch height, even for anyone in a wheelchair, would not be impossible. As you were not alone at the property, any of the other guests could have pressed the button too. Thirdly, thunderstorms in Florida, during the summers months are almost a daily occurrence. Such storms will now and again cause short power interference and surges. This is why every electrical device at this property is connected to the power outlet with a small surge protector. No doubt you saw them when you were there. There was a plug-in surge protector for the internet router but somebody had unplugged it and plugged the router into an unprotected outlet. This is why lightning only affected the ONE device in the home at the time of the thunderstorm. There was a delay in you reporting the problem to the property manager. But once the property manager was aware, a new modem was ordered (with next day delivery) and he came over to the home and installed it. The issue was dealt with as quickly as possible.

Beautiful home on the canal

  • 4 of 5

The house was beautiful and decorated nicely . Wish we would have had access to the out door lighting for poolside and the dock. The nights were warm and the kids swam nightly. The house cleaning crew should sweep under furniture and cushions on a regular basis.that was gross. All the notes in the walls were a bit overwhelming... It may have been better to just have all the info in one place in a book on the counter. The lighting in the master suit bathroom were too dim to do hair and make up, I had to go to the other bathroom to do my make up and finish my hair. Overall the house was beautiful and the sunrise and sunset views were amazing!! The house was centrally located to a number of beaches and Sanibel island, all of which were beautiful. The beach stuff in the garage were nice to have. I wish the propane tank on the grill would have been filled for grilling---have never rented a place that left a note saying we were responsible for filling it or buying charcoal. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house!! We really had a great time despite the lack of a few things.....again thank you!!

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Me and my wife stayed here late January and wish to thank you for the use of this home. The weather was great and we very much enjoyed exploring the local area, Fort Myers and Sanibel. The property was very clean, tidy and amazing value for money. My wife loved the outdoor area around the pool with the view of the boat dock and water. I would personally like to thank Amanda who assisted us with the booking process and also promptly answered a couple of questions after we arrived. Overall we had a fantastic time. We will be back next year in the summer and will rent a boat to keep on the dock.

Controlled environment

  • 2 of 5

This home is tastefully decorated, but many artificial flowers. There are instructional signs posted everywhere about what you cannot do...no shoes on in the house, air conditioner set at 78 & you cannot adjust it, you cannot shower whenever you want as the hot water heater on a timer so can only shower certain times( we found this out when we took cold showers & found the water heater was posted with times hot water was available), & bathrooms have signs telling u how much toilet paper to use. Pool was so cold we never got in it & we could not "heat it to our desired temperature" as presented in the description. My husband has a lung problem & difficulty breathing & I asked owner to lower air conditioner, he lowered it to 76..thank goodness January wasn't extremely hot, just humid & we were able to find oxygen locally. We were most unhappy that we couldn't control the heat or air even after numerous contacts with the owners representative? If you're looking for a nice house this will work. If you're looking for a pleasurable vacation you should probably keep looking.

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. 99% of guests rate this property at 5 stars and having rented this property for the past 9 years we have had very few complaints. Even months before arrival here, we received multiple concerns and complaints from you. The weather in January was very cool with some night time temperatures in the 30's and 40's. Humidity was, and is, lower in winter months. All swimming pools in Florida will be much cooler in the winter even if they are heated. Your pool was heated to the 80's and at the worst in the high 70's. No pool heater will heat a pool when air temps are 30-40 deg F. That was the best the pool heater can handle given the cool winter weather. As regards the air conditioning, the thermostat is adjustable within sensible parameters. You demanded that it be set down to 68 or 69 degrees F. This was not possible and we would not allow that because you will freeze up the system. The air conditioning is Wi-Fi enabled and the owner checked it regularly. Some days the home was naturally 68-70 degrees F without the air conditioning on. So I am not sure what the fuss was about. Florida is a hot and humid State most of the time and anyone with respiratory issues should perhaps consider an alternative State to vacation in. My maintenance guy was at the property BEFORE you checked in and he said you had ALREADY had oxygen delivered in advance, BEFORE your arrival. Your review indicates differently. Also when my maintenance guy checked by the property mid-stay he reported seeing you both out on the pool deck in the mid-day sun and humidity and one of you was smoking. So I am confused about all your "health" and "respiratory conditions" after hearing that. There are a few information style notices around the property which you would find at any vacation rental. Not sure why you considered that a problem. Finally as regards to the hot water, there is a timer which is active 3 times a day (morning, noon and night). There is an over-ride switch to enable constant hot water which you didn't use. Perhaps you did not read the notice about that? But that was the same notice you complained about. It is a shame these guests were unhappy and made multiple contradictory remarks. But it became very clear even before they arrived that they were never going to be happy and a long list of petty complaints were imminent despite our best efforts to resolve. We do try and please everyone but sometimes it is just not possible, no matter what.

Beautiful & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. We had a nice relaxing vacation and enjoyed the wonderful weather! We spent several days on Sanibel Island relaxing at the beach. It was truly a wonderful vacation before our first daughter is born in July. Such a great place to enjoy some relaxation. Thanks again!!
