The new owners, Paul and Bridget Schneider, have been married for 20 years this November 2018. We have 4 Children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Bridget is originally from the Maple Lake area and has lived most of her life in Rochester, MN with her husband and family. The photo of our family is from a wedding in San Diego a few years back, it's one of our favorites.
Paul purchased this Cabin in 2017
Why Paul chose South Haven
We love the area, it is a very beautiful and peaceful place to get way for the season. Clearwater Lake has excellent fishing and water sport opportunities. Very relaxing as well.
What makes this Cabin unique
Close to the Twin Cities, it is only a 45 minute drive from the west side of the Metro area. Small family run resort located on a small channel between Clearwater Lake and Grass Lake and we have our own boat launch for you convenience.

Quiet small but comfortable cabin near cities
Enjoyed our small, but comfortable cabin with dock access to a large lake (Clearwater). Owner was great about communication and sharing what amenities were available. Despite rainy weather, Paul made sure we maximized our opportunities at his cabin. I should have brought coffee, but grocery was not far away. Convenient and comfortable. Thanks!
Thanks Dana, wish the weather had been better, glad you made the most of your stay! Hope to see you again soon.
Very peaceful and serene
This cabin is in a great quiet location. It was just me and one friend, so we each took a bedroom, but it would be fine for two couples as well. We used the kayaks a lot on Grass Lake and ventured over into Clearwater Lake as well. The Adirondack chairs around the fire pit looking out at the view were just perfect for me!
Glad you had a great time!! We just ordered more chairs, glad you liked them!!
We enjoyed our stay with our children and grandchildren. The cabins we're very clean and the kitchen was well-stocked. The children had plenty to do in the water, swimming, canoeing, kayaking. The owners were very friendly and helpful in providing for our needs.
A Good Place to Stay
The online pictures of the cabins and property are quite accurate and represent what the property looks like when I stayed there. 2 separate bedrooms with comfortable queen beds plus pillows, and a sofa in the front room that folds out into a bed, which we didn’t use. One bathroom with a small shower. You must bring your own towels. Kitchen with pots, pans, utensils, dishes etc., for at least 4 people. Plenty of small rowboats, kayaks and a paddle boat for guests to use in the lake. The fish cleaning shack has the paddles and life vests. Swimming off the dock.
My suggestions for the owner- Please fix the rudder on the paddle boat. It is somewhat hard to steer/control. This is how we found it. Looks like a new bolt and screw would do it. Tankless water heaters are great usually but the one in cabin 22 gives you two options, cold or burning hot with about a 5 second warning in between. Lastly a dust buster would be helpful to vacuum the 6x8 throw rug in the front room. Hard to keep clean if sweeping with just a broom. My Verizon phone doesn’t work well out here but the AT&Ts do just fine. Nothing could be done, so know. I would definitely return!
Glad you liked the place. Sorry about the shower, apparently the temp adjustment had been moved. It has been taken care of, wish you would have called, I could have fixed it while you were there.
Cabin Get Away
Stayed at this property with a group of friends for the 4th of July weekend and had a great time! Weather was great so we could enjoy the lakes. Loved the kayaks and paddle boats provided for us. The cabin itself had what we needed but may be a little cramped. We spent most of our time outside anyways! Paul was easy to communicate with and very quick to respond to my questions. Would stay here again!
Thanks Emily! Glad you had a great time, hope to host you again someday. Your group left the unit in great shape and that is always appreciated!!
Nicer than I expected.
A couple friends and I wanted to fish Clearwater lake for the weekend. We usually stay @ a cheap motel in Annandale, but decided to try and find a place on the water this time. At first I thought the price was a little steep for the area, but quickly realized that the cabin was very nice and very clean. It had comfy modern furniture, extremely comfortable beds, working appliances and all the comforts of home. As a fisherman, with a very low standard when it comes to accommodations, this was a lot nicer than what I’m accustomed to when staying @ lakeside cabin rentals for weekend fishing trips. These cabins are perfect for a family get away, and the resort is very kid friendly.
My one suggestion would be for them to clear the weeds at the boat landing, but the fact that they have a private boat landing at all was pretty cool.
