About Wayne Chan
Our family stays in 'Serenity' every year as our vacation home. We both have our own businesses and with triplets, we stay busy. So when we decide to take a break, just knowing that we have the home in Lions Bay is amazing. We absolutely love staying there. I've never seen a view as spectacular as the one that we have right on our deck. It's just a terrific place.
Why Wayne Chan chose Lions Bay
Several years ago, I had come to Vancouver just to look at some properties with the possibility of finding a place a year or so down the road. We already knew that we loved Vancouver but we weren't quite ready to get a place. But when we saw this home, we just couldn't pass it up. As I said before, I had never seen a view as spectacular as the one at this home. So, we decided to just go ahead and do it!

What a view!!!
Wonderful house with perhaps the best view I have ever seen. Big house that handled 10 of us. Close to Horseshoe Bay and the ferries. Reasonably close to the airport and Whistler.
Beautiful home + views
House comfortably slept all of us, and had absolute gorgeous views. Close enough to get to both whistler and vancouver!
Gorgeous view, big, spacious house
Wayne's house is a beautiful, huge, A frame building with a stunning view through the large windows. The pictures are accurate in depicting the space and what's available. The main living room actually has 3 couches now, which is nice - it can seat more. The hot tub is quite small (would fit 6 maaax) but there are many rooms and bathrooms to accommodate a large number of guests, perfect for families. There were just a few things that kept it from being a 5 star stay:
- the host could not be reached: I left a voicemail with both of his numbers and he never returned my calls.
- we had booked the place for 12 people for multiple nights and there were only 3 extra rolls of toilet paper! We ended up having to go to the Lions Bay general store where 8 rolls of toiler paper cost us $20.
- parking passes were missing, so we couldn't go down to the beach.
- the dishwasher did not work. Given that this space is for large groups, this was a "must" when we booked this space. There's a chance we didn't press the right buttons but we tried multiple times, tried to reach Wayne, and ended up having to hand wash everything.
- not Wayne's fault of course, but there was a huge wind and rain storm the weekend we were there and the power went out in the whole community. The emergency supplies were hard to find and they didn't work! The flashlight didn't work, and the lighter didn't work either so we couldn't light the couple of candles we found. There also wasn't any firewood stocked or to be found on the property, but that would've been nice to keep us warm when the heat/lights went out.
The house is very well stocked with utensils, kitchen stuff, spices, teas, garbage bags, etc. Bottom line is that the house served its purpose - it fit our big group and was great for team-building. Once Wayne fixes these hiccups, I think this place would go from good to great and would be happy to come back again. That A frame window is beautiful!
Also, this is not the host's fault, but to note for others since this was my first time using VRBO - the rate is in USD, not CAD even though it's in Canada! Not sure if such a hefty damage deposit is normal or not, but it will be subjected to currency conversion through your bank/credit card, resulting in a loss of a couple hundred of dollars.
Thanks for the thorough review! We are always making an effort to make sure the home suits everyone’s needs and we want to know when we come up short.
As far as the parking passes are concerned. We repeatedly get replacements at $40 each but unfortunately people inadverdantly walk off with them. I’ve hesitated to chain them to something cumbersome like a brick or something but to keep them from disappearing we may have to.
We’ll also make sure the cleaning crew makes sure to leave out more toilet paper and check on the status of flashlights and lighters.
We will make sure to address these and all concerns soon. Thanks again for letting us know!
Grand yet cozy
We had an amazing time at Serenity! The location is outstanding - breathtaking! Even in the rain, the view offers constant mesmerizing entertainment. Sunsets are not to be missed!
The home is actually bigger than the photos indicate- we never ran out of space. The master bedroom is massive and luxurious. The main floor bedrooms are average size and of equal quality, however, the downstairs bedrooms are more sparse in furniture and atmosphere. The one large basement bedroom with two queen beds does not have a window and can get quite warm.
It was awesome to be able to fit all 10 of us on the sofas surrounding the massive stone fireplace, and still have a huge loft space as a separate rec area.
Wayne the owner was exceptional in his communication - very responsive, pleasant, and clear. We encountered some maintenance/housekeeping issues, which we alerted him to and he seemed intent on having them taken care of. With these in mind, we are very likely to book again!
Stunning water view in an amazing modern log cabin!
Lovely spacious home perfect for families or friends. View is breathtaking! Would recommend.
very nice stay, will stay again

We definitely want all our guests to have a great time when they stay with Serenity. The only thing we ask is that all guests treat the home with the respect they would have for their own. 99% of all our guests have been wonderful, but on a couple of occasions, guests decided to have blow out parties into the night, damaging the home and disturbing our nice neighbors. No wild parties!
