About Wayne Chan

Our family stays in 'Serenity' every year as our vacation home. We both have our own businesses and with triplets, we stay busy. So when we decide to take a break, just knowing that we have the home in Lions Bay is amazing. We absolutely love staying there. I've never seen a view as spectacular as the one that we have right on our deck. It's just a terrific place.

Why Wayne Chan chose Lions Bay

Several years ago, I had come to Vancouver just to look at some properties with the possibility of finding a place a year or so down the road. We already knew that we loved Vancouver but we weren't quite ready to get a place.

But when we saw this home, we just couldn't pass it up. As I said before, I had never seen a view as spectacular as the one at this home. So, we decided to just go ahead and do it!

Great house with a great view

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Serenity for 2 nights for a work retreat. The open plan living/ kitchen and upstairs family room were perfect for cooking/relaxing and working. The views are amazing. We walked to the beach one day and grabbed coffees at the general store . The kitchen is well stocked. The owner was very responsive. Thanks Wayne!

This is simply an awesome location and facility. Everything was in order and the owners made it very easy to arrive and leave with instructions clearly given. They also replied promptly to any calls made to them. Security refund was processed seamlessly. Thank you Wayne and Maya

Beautiful spot! We had a lovely retreat.

  • 5 of 5

The house is wonderful - clean, well-stocked, and a gorgeous view. We were a large group and there was more than enough space to relax. Wayne was easy to keep in touch with if we had any questions. The hot tub is a bit slow to heat up - make sure to turn it on when you get there and don't plan to jump in right away. Once it was hot, it was great! Thanks for a wonderful weekend.

Awesome view; a few challenges

  • 4 of 5

This home has incredible views and great potential. Wayne responds almost immediately to any concerns or issues. To earn the views, you have to navigate a tough uphill driveway; our large van could not make it all the way up so we carried our stuff the last half. Not a show-stopper but be aware. You can imagine our disappointment, after hauling our gear up the hill and inside the home, we discovered that the towels were not fully laundered, all still in the laundry room and in the wash machine and dryer, and the dishwasher not emptied. Again, not a huge deal in and of itself, just not the Homeaway/VRBO reception we normally see. Wayne told us he had a new cleaning company so hopefully that is worked out now, and he made a price adjustment for our inconvenience (thank you Wayne!). The three bedrooms on the upper floors (king and two queens) are quite nice although we never could get the bedroom tvs to work. The loft upstairs is nice and the large TV was excellent. We weren't there to watch TV but they are a nice convenience. The kitchen and eating areas worked well for our group of 8 adults, we prepared several meals, including use of the bbq grill. Plenty of utensils available. The basement simply needs a little work; there are large bedrooms in the basement with a full bath and it has potential. We advised Wayne of a water leak just after we arrived. Hopefully he can get that fixed quickly as it did appear to be an active leak. There were large water stains on the ceiling of one of the basement rooms and it smelled a bit musty. My wife and I decided to sleep in the loft instead of the basement due to the musty ceiling and smell. The location of the home is excellent; close proximity to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, not too far from Vancouver, and less than an hour to Whistler. Once Wayne gets the challenge issues fixed, this home goes from good to great.

Great Place for Our Family Reunion of 10 Adults!

  • 5 of 5

Great large log home with amenities yet a slightly rustic flair. The driveway does have a pitch to it as noted in other reviews, ass do most all homes in this small hillside community. Nice hot tub with a fabulous review. Private community beach about a mile away is very nice but to walk to it requires going for a short distance along a highway. Just so you know the bedroom set-up will serve your needs, 3 bedrooms in the upper levels are large, nice with private baths. The other 3 are in the basement, one w/o a window and those 3 BR's share a bath. Within those 3 BR's are 3 queen and 2 twin beds. We found this arrangement fine and fit our needs well. Wayne is a great host who gave prompt responses to all of the many questions we asked. And he provides a detailed and useful instruction booklet. Great location about 50 minutes north of YVR airport and 50 minutes south of Whistler Mountain. 10-15 minutes from Cypress Mountain. Highly recommended, thanks, Wayne!

We definitely want all our guests to have a great time when they stay with Serenity. The only thing we ask is that all guests treat the home with the respect they would have for their own. 99% of all our guests have been wonderful, but on a couple of occasions, guests decided to have blow out parties into the night, damaging the home and disturbing our nice neighbors. No wild parties!
