lovely, clean cottage with amazing water views

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is just as pictured: very clean with an amazing view of the bay. Unfortunately we happened to go on a girl's getaway on a weekend that was very rainy and cold. We did get to fit in a day trip to Provincetown that was great fun. An issue arose due to the fact that we did not expect no heat or lack of ability to use use fireplace in the cottage so after a couple of cold and damp nights we opted to leave a night early...I felt that the old description was somewhat misleading as I did not see "no heat" listed and we did see listing for fireplace. After short discussion with Anna, she agreed to refund the 1 night and she did so very quickly which we appreciated. It is a lovely cottage and great area to explore and all of us would not hesitate to go back at any time as long as we brought blankets and such if late in season. Thank you Anna for your customer service. It was greatly appreciated!

Beautiful view and only stones throw to the beach!

  • 4 of 5

Anna and Paul were fantastic and very personable. They made booking easy. The cottage is perfect for guests who want to unwind unplug and relax! It is a lovely beach front cottage with basic amenities. There is no A/C but has a nice ocean breeze in the evening.

It is in a fantastic central spot on the Cape.

Overall my husband and 2 boys had a great time and stay at this property :)

Nice cottage with wonderful views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two young adult children stayed here and had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need except for bed linens and bath and beach towels. Full set of dishes, mugs and glasses, utensils for eating and cooking and grilling, tons of pots and pans, potholders, kitchen towels, ice trays, blender; do bring paper towels, trash bags, TP and kitchen sponge/scrubber. There is no real driveway but parking for two cars right in front of the cottage, off the street. The views are fabulous and great cross-breezes. Cottage is on quiet street but very close to shops, dining and activities - walkable to breakfast place and nice restaurant. Beach is very easy to access across the footbridge but is a little rocky. Water shoes were helpful to us but most people didn't seem to need them. Lounge chairs right off back steps also felt like you were right the beach. Nearby were kayak rentals, jet ski rentals, golf courses and lots of great shops and restaurants. We had a wonderful time - thanks Anna!

Beautiful, but rent with caution!

  • 2 of 5

Let me preface this review with a little disclaimer;

I rent a cottage in the Cape every summer. I am a nurse practitioner and my husband is a Special Ed teacher. We are very responsible renters and we are not low lifes or scam artists....that being said....

We saw this property online and initially rented for 5 people although the cottage was advertised for 6; 3 adults and 2 children ages 5 and 7. At the last minute my step daughter wanted to come (she's 12) and was going to stay with my friend who lives in Yarmouth (full year resident). We started unpacking, it got late, and after a few cocktails we decided it was the safe and responsible thing to just have her crash on our camping mattress until the next day. We also had several friends that came down to the area while we were traveling who were staying at the Dunes Motel. Since we were right on the beach we invited our guests to come and hang out on the beach with us for the day. While sitting on the beach, on my vacation, I was approached by the owner who disturbed my conversation I was having with my husband and asked to speak to me privately. I got up and went to speak with her where she proceeded to lecture and accuse me of having extra people sleep in her home. I tried to explain to her what happened with my step daughter and she continued to accuse me. She said she looked in the cottage and saw the mattress on the floor. She told me that I said my son's friend was coming, which I did not say. She said it so many times I became frustrated and was forced to tell her that my son was autistic and did not have a friend with him. She then told me she "counted seven people on the beach that I was with". I could go on and on about the details in which she accused me of violating the lease but I won't. Eventually I just smiled and nodded at her in hopes she would leave me to continue my relaxing day on the beach. She told me she figured she would come see me on the beach rather then call me. I would've appreciated a phone call rather then being stalked on my vacation. Yes, I had visitors with me on the beach and they came in the house but there was nothing in my lease that said I couldn't have visitors.

This cottage is not for families with small children. As the owner was giving me the tour she made it a point to tell me everything we could NOT do and everything we could NOT touch. Between that and the beach it made for a very uncomfortable experience. To be continued....

Owner's Response: My hopes is that for those interested in renting our cottage this gives you a better understanding of our property management practices and what to anticipate. The Town of Yarmouth's Health Dept. issued the occupancy permit for a max of 6, if occupancy is greater than 6 a fine will be issued by the town. Rental lease was signed by the tenant for 5 in her party, we honor the number the tenant confirms on their web inquiry and includes on the signed lease . If the cottage sleeps 6 and there are 5 in her party then why bring a full size inflated air mattress that was left in plain site in the living room in front of the sliders? This raised some concern on number of occupants. When we bumped into the tenants on the beach we discussed the need of the air mattress and observed 7 individuals in the tenants party at that time. We do provide a list as a helpful guide for our tenants to address some of their questions, like out door grill needs to be lit manually, indoor linens such as pillows stay inside, outdoor picnic table umbrella must be closed on windy days. Upon arrival I show all tenants the locking mechanism on the sliders, the stove has a pilot light that may need to be re-lit and if more than one high wattage hair dryer is in use it may trip the breaker. I let all our tenants know they can contact us at any time for any reason and that we are in easy reach to the cottage.

Girls Week !!! Jun 25-Jul 02,2011

  • 5 of 5

The place was adorable. Had everything we needed for a sunshine filled week on the Cape. The beach a stones throw away, but not the beach traffic that goes with it. The central location was close to all the sights.Morning coffee on the deck watching the bunnies and chipmunks kept us entertained .. Will recommend this property for my freinds wanting to experience Cape Cod .. :)
