We are not in the City limits of Sedona.

Sedona AZ: Nestled amongst dramatic crimson towers of sandstone, Sedona, Arizona provides a stunning sanctuary for outdoor adventures and secluded retreats. Sedona's natural beauty is evident in its compelling surroundings, but Sedona's beauty is more than skin deep. Rich with diverse cultural events, spiritual energy, cozy bed and breakfasts, world-class resorts and spas, golf with unparalleled views, eclectic art galleries and exquisite cuisine, it is no wonder that Sedona, Arizona draws nearly 4 millions tourists each year. We are near Sedona but out side the city limits.

Sedona Geography: Situated at the base of Mogollon Rim, a geologically dominating structure of limestone, mudstone and sandstone, Sedona is engulfed by extraordinary monoliths resembling distinctive objects that bear their name. There's Cathedral Rock, Coffee Pot, Bell and Snoopy to name a few. Coffee Pot Rock marks the tallest point in Sedona at 5600 feet, although the town itself is elevated at 4500 feet. Sedona's high desert climate is generally mild year round. The average high is just under 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average low is 45. It is this mild four-season environment that draws visitors year-round to Sedona.

Getting to Sedona from Phoenix: Travel to Sedona is easy via a scenic 90 minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport that serves all major airlines. Or visitors can hop a small plane into Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport which accepts private commuter planes and is situated about 30 minutes away. Sedona also has an airport perched atop a scenic mesa with incomparable views open to smaller private planes. However, getting to Sedona is half the fun and the short drive from Phoenix is well worth the trip. As you come around the bend in the road and spot your first glimpse of the extraordinary Red Rocks your jaw will drop and you'll know why such a small town can make such a big impression.

About Red Rock Jon

My wife and I grew up in Michigan and graduated from MSU. I also graduated from University of Southern California. I taught high school science for the USA DoD in Germany. I taught engineering at MSU.

During my army career and my executive engineering position at Motorola my wife and I were able to travel the world and experience many cultures and environments. Thee experiences give us a clear insight into what should be provided to guests at our establishment.

Red Rock Jon purchased this house in 1992

Why Red Rock Jon chose Arizona

We wanted a vacation home in a world class area that was within driving distance from Phoenix. Sedona AZ was our choice. We purchased The Red Rock Escape because it is with-in walking distance to uptown where we can shop, people watch, go to restaurants, and have as many drinks as we want and not have to worry about driving home!

We also wanted a guest house so we could have the versatility of me and my wife staying in it while my relatives stayed on the big house or if a single relative or a couple want to visit we would have a place for them to stay.

We also wanted a place big enough to spread out and have some privacy and have some views. We do not realize how good the views are until we visit other homes that claim they have awesome views if you stand on the corner of their property.

What makes this house unique

Do you think staying within walking distance to entertainment, shopping, and restaurants is a good way to spend your vacation, car free?

Do you like short walks? Uptown and the Sedona Heritage Museum (735 Jordan Rd  Sedona, AZ 86336) and Hiking Trails are nearby( 1.25 miles)!

If someone wants to take the car and others want to stay behind they will find plenty to do in Uptown Sedona. More flexibility for everyone!

Walking to and from breakfast, lunch or dinner is a great way to view Sedona's Red Rocks and to feel the energy Sedona's special atmosphere.

A hot tub is available for relaxing after the outdoor activities or during the star lite nights!

My wife and I stayed and we had a wonderful time. The home is clean, cozy and just a little stroll from all the shops and restaurants. Sitting in the hot tub looking at the mountains is amazing. A perfect little getaway and the owner is very nice to work with. We will come again.

great place

  • 5 of 5

I visited here with my family and our experience was wonderful. The home is large and very homey and comfortable - and much nicer in person than in the photos. There is a lovely sun room inbetween the main and guest houses and the back yard offers great views. It is located in a quite neighborhood which is a short walk to the main shopping district. The house was extremely well equipped and had everything we needed - we especially appreciated the laundry and detergent that was provided! We had 7 people but you could easily sleep 10 or more. This was a wonderful rental and we would definitely return.

Sedona Trip

  • 5 of 5

I was very pleased with our stay at this home, the pictures dont really do the house justice, it's much nicer in person. Previous renters left things in the pantries/refrigerator so we felt it was necessary to do so ourselves. The fireplace room was our favorite place to spend the evenings even though we had to spend $8 on each bag of wood which was only included a couple of logs from the grocery store. The only other minor downfall was that the jets in the hot tub could've been stronger. Other than that, all of the bedrooms were very cozy, the king bed was especially comfortable. Upper Sedona in the winter (off season) is very slow, everything closes very early so you definitely get to enjoy the house to the fullest. I reccommend hiking up to Devil's Bridge and visiting Slide Rock (this is very fun in the summer). All in all we had a great time...

A big thanks to Jon for allowing us to enjoy his home.

Mountain Biking Extravaganza

  • 4 of 5

Visited with a group of 8 riders. We rented both homes. It perfectly accommodated us. The house is in a perfect location, a couple blocks from downtown Sedona and a couple blocks from the Jordan trail. The home is in a nice quiet neighborhood. It is dated as others have mentioned but very comfortable. I would recommend renting both places if possible as it would seem somewhat awkward having another group so close. You share laundry facilities, a backyard, and common enclosed patio with the other unit.

Owner's Response: Red Rock Escape is on a large, corner lot, with lots of outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy the views and the beautiful weather. The main house has a large front porch with rocking chairs with red rock views, where you can read, meditate or enjoy a glass of wine. There is a grassy side yard for those staying in the guest house, as well as its own screened in porch with 270 degree red rock views. We have personally stayed in both units while the other one was occupied without any privacy issues. Most guests see the free laundry room (with detergent and softener provided) as a plus, because the only area laundromat requires a drive into West Sedona and is relatively expensive.

House review

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property the last two years and have enjoyed every minute of it. The location is ideal for walking. You go one direction you go to UPtown with all its shops and restaurants and the other to several trail heads of various degrees of diffucltty. The house itself is very comfortable, with large closets, laudnry and stocked with everything you would ever need to make your stay enjoyable. We enjoy the double sided fireplace on chilly nights, the convenience of wireless internet, and the hot tub is very nice. We have had people in the quest house while we have been in the main house, and it has never posed a problem. We really enjoy the southwest decor of the house from the stuffed chicken to the kachinas. The fenced in back yard is great for our dog. We did not have to worry when we let her out at night that she would take off. We highly recommend this house.
