We stayed at the house for six days. The house was quite large. Two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and a large kitchen, living room, family room and master bedroom downstairs. The village of Goult is quite cute with great restaurants. Location of Goult is very convenient. Very close to other villages. We experienced lots of mosquitos in and outside the house. There is no air conditioning or fans in the house. It was really hot during our stay. We manage to find only one fan. Our room was so hot that we had to open the door, but the screen was ripped allowing mosquitos inside the house. The Downstairs bedroom was cooler than upstairs. Outside the house is very buggy. The pool was always filled with tons and tons of bugs. We hardy swam in the pool due to that. I would highly recommend asking for addition pool cleaning. There were lots of ants inside the house too. Also, the road leading to the house and the driveway is very steep.
Lage und Ausstattung des Hauses sind hervorragend.
kleines Manko: es gibt nur englische Fernsehkanäle, keine französischen und die Sky-Card für die englischen Kanäle war ungültig.
A spacious, traditional Provencal villa set on a sunny hillside in a residential area just below the picturesque village of Goult. The village is just 300m uphill walk, where you’ll find weekly markets selling Provencal delights to tempt your taste buds as well as boutiques, a boulangerie, epicerie, wine shop and a range of restaurants and cafes to suit most palettes.
Goult has well-restored buildings that seem to grow up out of the living rock which are built of the same natural stone. The narrow lanes are walled with stone and sometimes the solid rock, arched doorways and vaulted passages. This hilltop village has superb views towards the Luberon hills and Bonnieux area and is a quintessentially Provencal!
On your doorstep is the Luberon National Park for delightful views, forest walks and forest activities as well as day trips to beautiful medieval villages such as Bonnieux featured in Peter Mayle’s book ‘A Year in Provence’, Lacoste, Menerbes and Lourmarin. Gordes (10km) is also worth a trip, clinging to the edge of a spur of Mont Ventoux, it boasts sandstone houses tumbling down narrow cobbled streets and a selection of markets and boutiques. From here, try an exhilarating drive to the 12th century Cistercian Abbaye de Sénanque and its lavender fields – the monks still produce the herb-flavoured liqueur Sénancole! The closest larger towns are Cavaillon, 20km, Apt 15km, L’Isle sur la Sorge (23km) with its antiques markets and Avignon 40km with its famous bridge and Palais des Papes. Golf enthusiasts can play at the Provence Country Club in Saumane, (22km) and horse riding can be arranged via the tourist office nearby.
