Cozy cabin, conveniently located
A very comfortable little place with just about any piece of equipment you could need accounted for. The location is far away from the madness of downtown SLT/Stateline, but not too far away to get to anything. Wifi works well, and the owner is communicative and helpful.
Thank you, Adam, for the awesome review - so glad you had a great time! Come back soon!
Other hosts, I recommend him!
My family (2 adults 2 kids) spent a week here. Place was great! Plenty of room to spread out, very clean and comfortable, conveniently located to Lake Tahoe, and check-in and out was very easy! Also great and speedy communication with owner. Would stay here again - Thanks!
A Great Getaway
This trip was a celebration for my wife and I and our 2 year anniversary. The property manager was always quick to respond if we had any questions and was very friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful and the property was well maintained. We definitely enjoyed our stay and look forward to doing it again someday.
Thank you Charles!
Come back soon!
Well-equipped home in a great location
This home was a great place to get away too. Very close to Heavenly ski area and town. She did allow our pets to come also which made our trip extra special. If you come with your pets be very respectful and responsible with them. She does keep her place very clean and it is nice to have places like this to travel to that allow you to bring your pets. Hope I can come back again.
Vanessa, thank you for taking the time to write such a great review! I hope we can host you again.
Great place with great owners
The Bears Den is a great place to stay! The owners are nice and have made sure your stay is pleasant. the property was very clean and not run down at all. a couple things to note, the property is at around 7 to 8k feet so if you have any health issues, that might be a concern. starting a fire in the wood stove can be a challenge as kindling is a must with the wood outdoors and not covered. I would recommend this place to others and we enjoyed our stay tremendously.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
And you are exactly right - we do recommend fire-starters to our winter guests! Thanks for sharing.
We look forward to hosting you again!
Worst place ever...
I had withheld comment on our stay, as I was overcharged and expected a refund... Instead I was deceived by their promises of fair and honest treatment. If you rent here, document everything said and promised! The condition of the property was equally misleading and below expectation. It had snowed the previous week, and no one had cleared snow on the access path to the door. The melted and re-frozen ice was no match for the flimsy plastic snow shovel. Daily shoveling of fresh snow is normal in snow country. Having to dig through weeks of shoveling neglect is NOT a guest responsibility! They suggest "heat with wood stove", yet the stove was in dis-repair, dangerous with no fireproof hearth in front of door, a failing door gasket, and no covered/dry wood supply. The furnace worked, but most heat is directed under cabinets... you could bake bread under the bathroom sink. Uncomfortable furnishings and inadequate closet & clothing, space ....especially for winter and skiing use. Close to skiing, but a room at The Ridge Tahoe would have been even closer, much nicer, cheaper, and with lots of amenities.
Well, I am truly disheartened by this review and as the public can see with this guest, there were issues - but not with our home.
You cannot satisfy everyone, and until now we had a perfect 5* rating on all our homes/sites for 6 years.
I spent hours communicating, but he did not know how to use the site and did not respond. He quibbled about the cost after he booked and after his stay - which is not protocol for this process. He also changed his reservation after it was non-refundable and I allowed him too, with no charge - again, he made a booking mistake. He also did not tell us he had pets until after the fact.
He arrived amidst the biggest snow storm in years - not after - but during the wonderful and amazing back to back storms and on a day of 14" falling. Tahoe and all plows and maintenance companies were doing the best they could for everyone! As anyone knows in snow country, there is snow! I reached out 4 times to ask about shoveling and the best time, and he did not respond. Friends staying just 2 doors down were loving it!
Bottom line, he thought he should have no snow and a discount after the fact. His notes about our home are false and I am deeply hurt by the comments. Our brand new forced air and A/C are less than 1 year old and work impeccably. The condition of our property is stellar and immaculately maintained. It is sad people can say false things like this.
I can only say that I hope our reputation and reviews prevail over this single, inaccurate review. I was even honest in my review of him - a 5* for cleanliness, as he was.
I truly tried everything to appease him, as guest service is in our heart, but sometimes, you just have to move on.
