Recently remodeled with a deck, Fire Place (wood provided), W/D, equipped kitchen open to living room. Not large - but well appointed and cozy.
Steps to Shuttle, Heavenly Base and PCT.
King Master, 1 Bath, loft with Q and trundle (2Twins). No couch sleeping - not a pull out.
Make yourselves at home – and feel free to use the electronics, snow shoes, beach chairs, telescope, BBQ, etc. We just ask that you care for them as you would your own and do not leave the telescope outside and return the chairs and snowshoes to the Storage bin on the deck. There is also an extra propane tank in the bin – in case you run out. If so – please leave the used tank out of the storage bin on the deck so we know to refill it.
Welcome! We hope you enjoy your stay with us in our Bear’s Den Chalet!
WI-FI Code: It changes from time to time – see in-unit information
Bears: Yes, they are here in Tahoe and they LOVE our yard/area. Please follow these rules to ensure safety for all…
* They hibernate in the winter months – but can be seen in any season.
Close all doors in the evenings and when you leave.
* Do not leave ANY food outside, on the porch or in your car – bring it
* They are beautiful but from a distance – do not get to close when there
is not a window or wall separating you. Be alert (they call this Bear
Aware) they can be around a corner!
Garbage: If you have more garbage than your large kitchen bin holds during your stay, you can take out the trash. Our area (Summit Village) has a dumpster located in the parking lot of the Summit Village Condominiums – just across the corner of tramway and Tina Ct. – about 150 yards. Please do not leave garbage outside the unit anywhere; Bears and other wildlife will find it!
Pets: We love well behaved pets and owners; but not everyone else does. We ask that you do not allow your pets on the couch.
We also strongly ask that you walk your pet and pick up after them – and do not let them go on the deck. There are pet bags located by the Summit Village office about 25 yards down the road, west, toward the lake.
Humidifier / AC / Fan: Depending on time of year – your needs and desires for these items may vary. They are all located in the unit; perhaps in the closet if not out in plain sight.
Altitude: Our home is about 8200 ft. Altitude sickness can make you feel dizzy or “off” or even be more serious. Don’t over-do it if you are not used to the altitude and stay hydrated!
The Unit does not have a land line in it.
Parking: Park directly in front of the unit (either side of the street). It is first come first served.
Winter / Winter Weather: Be careful!
* It can be icy everywhere – steps and the driveway
* The snow is removed from the walkway between rentals. If you
encounter snow – the shovel for the deck is on the porch! Go to it and
enjoy the experience! It is part of a Tahoe vacation!
* We heat our home with our fireplace – help yourself. Wood is on the
back deck if not right next to the fireplace.
* Extra blankets and throws are in the closet, on the beds and/or in the
storage furniture. Try the silver night stand upstairs, too.
* 2016-17 has been an exceptionally snowy / stormy winter. We have
seen the power go off a few times this year due to large accidents or
area outages from 30 minutes to several hours. There is a flashlight by
the front door. The fireplace heats the entire home and there are
plenty of blankets! We say enjoy the quiet, play a game or make a
puzzle and revel in the romanticism of it!
