We are from New Jersey and have been skiiing Okemo for over 10 years with our families and friends.
Beth McKevitt & Kim O'Leary purchased this house in 2006
We rented seasonal at Okemo with 3 to 4 families, our children grew up skiing together at Okemo and we decided to purchase our own home. Now we have the perfect house that fulfills all of our needs. It is spacious, great for large groups, entertaining, relaxing, plenty of parking and convenient to all. A wonderful home to make great memories. We love that other families and groups enjoy the house as much as we do.
Location to Okemo Mountain, spacious kitchen which has every amenity, spacious dining room that seats 12 comfortably, generous size bedrooms, 4 baths, sauna and 2 floors with 1500 sf of game room with pool table, foosball, ping pong, darts, card table, large table for puzzle, and large sectional for relaxing in front of the pellet stove - adults love it, kids love it, everyone loves it! Plenty of parking.
We stayed here for an extended family ski weekend. There were three families with children ranging in age from 4 - 18 and there was plenty of space for everyone to either gather together or find their own space, depending on their desire at the time. The game room was a great space for the kids, but we usually all ended up in the “barn” playing games around the card table or in the large spacious kitchen eating, drinking and enjoying each other’s company. The “barn” is the owners’ term for the finished addition to the home that has a pellet stove, couches and tables that make it a wonderful casual space to relax in. Kim & Beth were wonderful to deal with and I would highly recommend this house for anyone looking to travel with a large group.
We enjoyed out stay. The home is very welcoming and comfortable. We cooked a great Christmas dinner in the well equipped kitchen and dined in the elegant dining room. Bedrooms were comfy and well appointed and we all enjoyed the game room. Great stay! Pam
Our family rented this, and another property that was close by for our first family reunion / vacation this August. We were 29 people in all, so one property wasn't going to be enough. The other property was only a few miles away, but it was on the top of a mountain with ponds and high stone walls. It was a beautiful playground for our family to gather during the day, but for safety reasons, I was very skeptical of having the younger kids there after dark. Kim & Beth's home was PERFECT for the members of our family with younger children. It's comfortable, durable, spacious and very homey. Much more conducive to families with children of all ages. The kids loved the two story rec room . It got plenty of use. There's a nice size yard and plenty of parking for several cars. The house was generously stocked with linens and kitchen supplies, laundry products, etc. The Cavendish community is very warm and inviting. The kids even took a tour of the volunteer fire department across the street. The chief let them sit in the trucks and try on all the gear. They were in their glory! Such a friendly and quaint little town. Definitely a home away from home kind of place. Kim & Beth were extremely helpful and responsive to all of our questions. We would definitely recommend their Victorian Retreat to families or large groups looking for a place to relax & spread out. Good times! :)
The listing description was very accurate and easily accommodated our large group. The house was clean and well maintained. The sleeping arrangements were comfortable and plentiful and there were plenty of linens for a large group. The kitchen was perfect for hanging out, as was the large "barn". We shared many laughs around the card table. This was our fourth year visiting this Cavendish home and each time we were very pleased with the owner customer service. It was nice to be so close to Okemo. I would definitely recommend this home to my friends.
Three families, 6 kids ages 5-8, no problems or complaints. We arrived on New Years Eve. The house was clean, towels and linens washed and dried, and everything was as described in the posting. Tons of bedrooms, playroom with pool and ping ping and foosball and darts perfect for the kids (and adults). Great hangout spot in the wood pellet stove room in the barn section of the house (easy to refill, all pellets left next to stove, not an issue). Quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes door to door to the okemo base (about 7-8 minutes to the heart of Ludlow with all the restaurants).
The owners were super responsive and accommodative. We even left a bag of pricey shoes there and they mailed it back to us in NY without an issue (just got them!). No AWD needed to get to the house or in the driveway (side note: I've learned dedicated snow tires on a FWD is better than all season tires on a AWD).
Plenty of seating in diningroom and kitchen. Everything you need with regards to eating and cooking (pots, pans, plates, drinkin glasses for alcohol and regular, silverware, etc.)
We would definitely go back again on a revisit. Thanks!!!
The quality of the furnishings is second to none. The location is ideal for us. More than adequate parking for all in my party, I would recommend to all. The property owners are understanding, and respond promptly.
