About Bobbi Schulte

We have lived 'in the city' all of our lives (Ed lived in New York State, then Tampa, Florida, prior to moving to Miami, Florida and I was born and live in Miami, Florida). Our dream was to find a place in a small, but wonderful, area. We looked in several areas for many years, including Murphy, but didn't find the 'magic place'. We decided to return to Murphy 5 years after our first brief visit. When we drove back in, we knew we were right in coming back. It was a moment that changed our lives. We didn't know it then, but it has. Our son has moved to the area because of the peace and beauty he found here and 3 of our friends are now our neighbors. We have all found something special here. We can't really describe it, but we can certainly feel it!

Bobbi Schulte purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Bobbi Schulte chose Murphy

We bought this home because we were looking for 'the perfect place'. We found it! We wanted peace, tranquility and beauty, but it had to feel 'good'. The moment we walked in, we knew we had found everything we had been looking for. Our home is more than a place to stay. We respect the fact that it is, also, a home for wildlife and have tried to maintain a safe haven for the beautiful things nature has provided in this area. Our dock over the river offers a peaceful escape from everything or a chance to catch trout! The lake is quiet and is the morning 'home' to ducks and geese. After a day of hiking, biking, white water rafting, ZIP lining or enjoying watersports on the nearby lake, it truly is a 'home' to return to and unwind.

What makes this cabin unique

Our home is 'easy'. It is 1 1/2 to 2 hours from several 'big cities', but is in a wonderful 'small town'. There are no 'strangers' in Murphy. We are on 7 1/2 acres in a valley on the Nottely River. Being in our home, sitting on the deck or on our dock on the river makes everything 'right'. Looking around and seeing the natural beauty allows you to put everything in life in perspective. We truly are fortunate to have found this magical place. Everyone who has chosen our home in which to spend their special time agrees. You don't stay in our home, your experience it!

Beautiful property & wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the cabin. The booking & communication with Bobbi was easy. We always try to travel to a place our youngest son would have loved to go to. He lost his battle to cancer in 2014, he was 17. He loved NC, staying in a cabin, hiking, nature, mountains, waterfalls, cool weather and photography. This cabin offered all he loved. The cabin is so cozy & warm. There are many ways to enjoy the property, with a large field for tossing a football or baseball, an outdoor fire pit, picnic table & rockers on the porch. We got snow which was awesome and beautiful. Being from FL, this was new to us, so we had a blast playing in it. The wood burning fire place made it perfect! Cabin has enough pots, pans, dishes, cups & utensils. We stopped at the Walmart (10-15 minutes away) and picked up our essentials for the week. (Food, toiletries, laundry soap & firewood, which we already knew we would have to get.) We we're also blessed to see a family of deer, many birds, squirrels and a couple of foxes playing in the snow. We also visited the Chattanooga zoo which was about a 1.5 hr drive away through some of the most beautiful mountains, and we were able to stop and take photos in a few of the senic areas. It was an awesome trip, we loved our cabin and the area. It was all we hoped for and more. (GPS works fine in this area) We hope if circumstances permit, that we would be able to stay here again!!

Owner's Response: Your courage and the way you have chosen to honor your son's memory are humbling. I am honored that you chose our home in which to spend the anniversary of his passing. The fact that it snowed the way it did while you were there was wonderful. I know his dog does not travel well, but, hopefully, she would have enjoyed playing in the field in the snow and seeing everything nature provided during your stay. It is people like you that bring the warmth you felt to our home. Our home holds many memories of people who have shared their lives with us and, now, we have those you have shared and brought with you. Thank you for doing so and for further enriching our lives. We wish you and all you love a wonderful holiday and New Year filled with dreams come true and wishes granted. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing your lives with us. Please do try to stay, again! Bobbi Bobbi

Peace and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We came from the Tampa area following the Florida hurricanes & really enjoyed this cozy cabin. Bobbi was so helpful & caring as we kept each other updated on the weather at each end. Everything turned out great for my family's trip. We had rain & rather warm weather, but the cabin & surroundings are so nice, it didn't matter that we were missing that cool Fall air. Our 2 Labs loved the large field & even had a swim in the lake (no alligators)! I wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks Bobbi & Ed. Carol T & family.

Owner's Response: I wish you could have, too! I am sorry everyone had to go through what they did, but it was comforting to "weather the storm" with you! I am so glad that we were all safe and that you, your family and "the puppies" made it safely and enjoyed your vacation. Please do make the trip again. Thank you for being my co-weather person and for being so kind and thoughtful! It was a pleasure having you and your family stay in our home. You are welcome anytime! Bobbi

perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cabin in a beautiful setting. It is within a community of excellent properties with enough distance apart to feel in the woods but close enough to walk to neighbors. The upper porch is a great hangout to observe the wildlife and particularly a wide variety of bird species - bring the binocs! Inside - all very comfortable, equipped, and well maintained with special owner touches. It was the perfect spot for observing the solar eclipse but can imagine that it would a most enjoyable retreat any time of year.

Owner's Response: Thank you! I am so glad you got to see the eclipse from the cabin. It really was the perfect place. All of the neighbors, as you know, said it was phenomenal to see it from the field. Before thanking you for choosing our home in which to spend your time with your friends and family and for your thoughtfulness (I guess I just did!), I must tell you what you did for us. We were at the cabin with my daughter and granddaughter because of "Irma". The birds had to be fed, of course. Ed decided to go on line to find the hummingbird recipe from the National Zoo that you used. He and my granddaughter made it together. Not only was it a bonding and learning experience, it was a tremendous success, but you already know that. We have added it to Ag's "Birds of Murphy" book. Thank you! Again, thank you! Our retreat is available for your return any time of the year! Bobbi

peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

we enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very cozy and clean. My husband fished in the lake (caught a 3 pound bass) and it was nice to go to the river and sit and listen to the water. Sitting on the porch was nice. we had hummingbirds coming to the feeder and birds singing all day long. One night we saw three deer! There is plenty of room in the cabin and the wi-fi was great to have. There is a lot to do in the area in the town of murphy and blairsville georgia is a very short drive. fields of the woods, cherokee cellars winery, drive the scenic byways, we went up to bryson on 19 and along the river we stopped and watched the rafters. it was a great drive and so much to see. In Blairsville there is Cooks Country Kitchen and The Hole In The Wall that are two of the places we ate at that are fantastic. Also visit the Sunrise Country Store (for our big foot t-shirts for the grand kids)and other neat stuff. Stopped at Brasstown Bald Mountain which is just a spectacular view. Drove to the casino but didn't go in this trip. Bobbi was great to work with and we hope to stay here again sometime.

Owner's Response: I am so happy that you enjoyed your time in our home and that your husband went out on the lake AND caught a bass. It sounds like the only time you relaxed was when you got back from seeing beautiful, interesting places and doing terrific things - which is wonderful! You found great places. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It makes us feel good knowing that you saw what the area has to offer and got a chance to meet the people that make this area special. Thank you for being so kind and thoughtful! It was a pleasure working with you, too! Please do come back - soon! Bobbi

Owner's Response: Thank you so much! It was a pleasure having you stay in our home. I am glad that you had a chance to relax and that the kids enjoyed their time, too. The field is the perfect place for running - for people and "puppies". I am glad your little dog was happy while running there. It seems like it goes forever to little people and little "fur people"! I appreciate your being so thoughtful and kind. It makes us happy to know that you enjoyed your vacation and that you chose our home in which to spend your family time. Our home is open to you and your family always! Thank you, again! Bobbi
