Why Mark Keyford chose England

No.3 Powlett Road has been owned and operated by the family since 1947. The property incorporates the best of modern conveniences whilst maintaining traditional Edwardian style.

What makes this house unique

No.3 Powlett Road is a beautiful Edwardian town house set within the leafy, tree lined streets of Bathwick. The general area is quiet and is popular with local families.

The city centre is no more than a 10 minute walk away. The walk into town takes you along some of the most prestigious streets in the country such as Great Pulteney Street and Laura Place. These fine examples of Georgian architecture have appeared in many films over the years.

The property has a free parking space - a rare commodity in a city well known for the efficiency of its parking officials!

No.3 Powlett Road also has a wonderful rear garden that comes into its own during the spring through to October. The rear patio area has been planted with grape vines, pear espaliers, figs and dwarf box hedging. This gives it a real continental feel in the natural sun trap of the patio enclosure.

The remainder of the garden is used as a kitchen garden, being planted with the usual vegetables associated with an English garden. It is flanked by an impressive privet hedge that typifies the general suburban feel.

Fantastic Stay in Central Bath Location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property only a 10 minute walk to the main centre of Bath with all the lovely tourist spots.

This little house is a gem of a find, and its situated on a quiet residential street. The house is very cosy and warm with a lovely sized living area and kitchen. The kitchen was fully functional, not that we used it very often. The free teas and coffees were very welcomed when we arrived. The bathroom is very spacious and the shower gets hot very quickly, although the pressure is quite low but it was fine for 4 adults.

The bedrooms were both very big and spacious with very comfy double beds (one king in the front bedroom). There were plenty of clothes hangers available to hang clothing and lots of drawer space to store items. It felt like a home from home which is what we wanted. The welcome book provided us with very useful information and there are some great recommendations for restaurants and pubs. There is ample parking on the road and you are given your own parking permit which is really handy as we didn’t need to move the car until we departed at the end of our stay. Mark the owner is really helpful and answered any questions we had straight way.

There is a small Tesco around a 10 minute walk away which was really handy for any essentials. One night we ate at a pub called the Pulteney Arms which is about 7 minutes walk away and this was very friendly with a great choice of food and drink. The next night we went to a pub called the Star which is quiet and really friendly and then walked round the corner from this to another pub called the Bell which is really lively with great music. Both of these pubs were about 10 minutes walk away from the house. Everything in the area is very close and we had a fantastic stay! We would love to come back in the Summer to explore more of Bath.

Lovely

This property was just as advertised, and the owner could not have been more hospitable or helpful. There are several pubs nearby, and city centre is an easy walk, so no car is needed while there. I would definitely stay again!

Lovely property

  • 5 of 5

A very comfortable and well-maintained property, on a quiet street. It's close enough to city centre to leave the car at the house and walk. Several nice pubs nearby, and kitchen has everything needed if you want to stay in for meals. Mark could not have been more hospitable! Overall, enjoyed the stay very much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it...or stay again!

Perfect Stay in Bath

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this property. It was a bit of a walk from the train station, but a very easy walk from the house into the city centre. The house was immaculate, well-equipped and very comfortable. Wi-Fi was good as well. A bonus is a half bath off the kitchen, which was nice to accommodate 4 people. We weren't sure about how the weather would be in early fall but we were able to enjoy sitting in the garden on the warm sunny days. We took the free Mayor's Guide Tour which was very informative and we got out bearings as to where everything was located. We saw the Abbey, toured the Roman Baths and took a day-trip to Stonehenge and Lacock Village. If we had to do it again, we would stay at this property longer and explore the area further but it was a great overview of this magical part of the UK. The owner Mark Keyford was responsive and helpful. This property is outstanding and at an affordable value. We were very happy with our stay!!

Charming House in Bathwick

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the UK and we had little idea what to expect from renting a house in the area. We were pleased to find this row house very near to where several of our planned activities were to take place. The house is brick and part of a development from the 1920's. The outside area is well maintained and there is parking provided (this is a much bigger deal than we knew beforehand).

The house has been renovated and exquisitely painted and furnished. The notable upgrades to the main bath were much appreciated, as were all the new appliances in the kitchen.

Located near Great Pulteney Road and next door to Sydney Gardens, the location is excellent for walking to and from Bath city center. It is a 15 minute walk to Bath Abbey and the famous Roman Spa site, and only 20-25 minutes walk to the Royal Crescent (the most famous of the 7 or 8 in the immediate area of Bath). There are two decent pubs within a two or three block area (real pubs, not tourist attractions!) and a wonderful restaurant called "The Bathwick Boatman"... it was so good we ate there more than once. We also found a pub on the far side of town called the Marlborough Tavern, near the Royal Crescent, with excellent food and beverages.

The house owners were responsive to our requests for information and proactive at making sure we had a good information about access, how to work things and how to enjoy the property to the fullest. There is a charming back yard terrace with a lawn and full garden of flowers and fruits. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone visiting Bath.

This area is a good jumping off point for visiting the Cotswolds, Avebury Henge (better than Stonehenge, IMO), Wells Cathedral and a tour of Bowood House (the Wiltshire country estate of the 9th Marquess of Landsdowne).
