Stunning view from a beautiful home in a perfect location
No pictures would do this home justice. From the greeting of hydrangeas surrounding the front porch to the open flow of the first floor flooded with light, to the spectacular view of the white sails on the blue water below, we knew immediately that this was the vacation home we were hoping for. This is not a staged house with thoughtless furnishings, rather it's a cozy and comfortable family home prepared to be lived in, and shared by the hosts for others to enjoy. Within walking distance is what should be called a private beach, shared each sunny beautiful day with no more than 2 or 3 others, and a short drive to the spectacular Aquinnah Cliffs. Watch the sun rise from the deck outside the lovely master bedroom, and the shooting stars at night from the large first floor deck. The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook fresh caught seafood daily from nearby Menemsha Fisheries, and a grill for some delicious charred oysters and fresh grilled corn. Our host, Jim, was kind and welcoming, someone you feel as if you've known for years. The tranquil surroundings will set you at ease from the moment you arrive. The community spirit in Aquinnah, the care and protection for the environment and the common desire to treasure every day made for the best vacation my family and I have ever had. No amount of money could buy the memories we created this year. We will be back...we've found our place. Five stars should be a thousand....
Thank you for the great review. It was a pleasure hosting you, your family and Jaque, the dog. Looking forward to seeing you again next year
Beautiful home, location & view.
As advertised. Very comfortable. Jim promptly resolved the one minor issue we had. Thank you!
Great week in a great house
The house is large, clean and extremely well equipped. Sitting out on the patio enjoying a meal or a drink is everything we go to MV for. Mr. Wallen is a perfect host, availble if needed and otherwise elsewhere. We will certainly be back again.
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I am looking forward to hosting you again. Jim
6th year at the Smith Wallen house.
We love the Smith/Wallen house. It is comfortable, clean, and has all of the amenities needed for the island. We will be going for years to come.
Thanks. We love having you there. See you next year.
Beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming! Never, ever disappoints. It's just THE BEST.
It's a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming place. Gorgeous views. Very convenient and supplied with everything you need. We love it and have been coming for years. It is simply the BEST.
Thanks for your review. So glad you keep coming back and looking forward to another ten years.
We had such a relaxing and fun vacation at this house. It is comfortable and well stocked. There are some town beaches within walking distance, and there is a beautiful beach (Philbin) that you can buy a weekly pass to go to. The area nearby is scenic and is great for walking, biking and running because of low traffic.
Jim owns the house but lives nearby in the summer. He was very responsive to any questions. We were on the Vineyard because my daughter who is an author was reading at the Vineyard Haven bookstore. Jim and his wife Kathleen even came to the reading!
The house is clean and airy and the grounds are well maintained. There are beautiful views of Menemsha from the decks.
What a paradise!
Thank you for your review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and hope to have you back again.
Martha's Vineyard is 100 square miles of pasture, woods and miles of beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and Vineyard Sound. Great fishing, boating and beach combing are at your doorstep. Excursions are available to nearby Cuttyhunk Island and Nantucket. There are numerous hiking trails nearby. The island offers horseback riding and golf, the shops and restaurants of Oak Bluffs and the old whaling port of Edgartown. Gay Head/Aquinnah, where the house is located, is home to Wampanoag Tribe and its craftsmen and cultural center.
