Two 2/3 Bedroom Gites five minutes by foot from Vallon Pont D'arc

Les Cerisiers is two gites on different levels. Downstairs - large kitchen/dining area with single sofa bed if required, master double bedroom, twin bedroom + WC and shower. Large front garden with BBQ and eating area. Upstairs - a first floor level gite with a large kitchen/dining area, a double bedroom, twin bedroom and a lounge with a double sofa bed if required. Two balconies plus outdoor eating/BBQ area.

The building itself is on a quiet cul-de-sac with views of the town to the south and the countryside all around.

The region is perfect for a quiet getaway, family holiday or adventure break. The town is surrounded by thousands of square miles of forests and vineyards whilst the famous canyons are a paradise for thrill seekers such as canoeists, hikers and climbers.

About Adam Breen

We bought and renovated this house in 2010 when we were working in the holidays business. It was already split into two apartments so we kept the layout but changed and updated almost everything else. We have tried to marry the original charm of the building with modern standards of comfort.

The upstairs gite is accessed by an external staircase. It is totally private from downstairs, which we used to keep as our own. Unfortunately, life and work keep us away from the house and the Ardeche so we will be letting the downstairs gite in 2015. We have some great local help to take care of meeting guests, cleaning and little problems that may occur.

We weren't really looking for a renovation when we bought but were captivated by the house. It has so much potential and when we considered the location - close to but not actually in the town - we had to buy it. It was a lot of work to get the place up to scratch but we're really pleased with the results.

This rental property is in a quiet area, right where the lively town of Vallon Pont d'Arc meets the beautiful countryside of the southern Ardèche.

The town is most famous for being at the entrance to the mighty Ardèche Gorge. The gorge is a deep, winding canyon that has been cut into the limestone over millennia and features the incredible Pont d'Arc - a naturally formed bridge of rock over the river. Canoeists and walkers flock to the Gorge each year to brave the rapids and walk the riverside trails.

Away from the Gorge there is plenty more to see and do from sunbathing on the riverside beaches to numerous adventure activities. These include mountain biking, horse riding, treetop ropes courses, climbing, canyoning and caving to name a few.

The fields and forests are full of peaceful, well marked walking trails whilst the winding roads make for many a scenic drive or cycle.

Beneath this blissful countryside lie miles and miles of caves - the most famous of which is the Grotte Chauvet. Discovered in the 1990's the Chauvet cave rewrote the history books by showing that neolithic man lived in the Ardèche 36,000 years ago. A new UNESCO exhibition centre opened in 2015.

  • There are two bedrooms, and a double sofa bed in the lounge if required. With 300 days of sunshine a year, we tend to live outdoors as much as possible in the Ardeche. That said, it is nice to have a lounge if a summer storm comes through or to watch a DVD etc. Hence the lounge/3rd bedroom approach.
