If you are a family with children looking for a peaceful oasis where you can connect with your dearest and enjoy privacy and spectacular scenery, this is the place to be.
Croatia is undiscovered and untouched in many ways. This is a fascinating country with stunning coastlines, paradise islands, warm friendly people and amazing Mediterranean food, which makes Croatia such a hot spot for summer holidays.
For all of you that visit Croatia for the first time, Korcula is an ideal location to explore the best Croatia has to offer.
A villa allows you to enjoy the tranquility and luxury of your own private accommodation and with Vila Dionysus you’ll be guaranteed a stylish and comfortable stay.
Luxurious Sea Front Six Bedroom Villa Dionysus is located 15 m from the sea in the charming village with only 20 holiday villas, surrounded by luscious green countryside where you will be able to recharge yourself.
One fabulous fish restaurant is just a hint away (2 walking minutes), although you will fall in love with the domestic food, prepared by your host as your welcome gift upon arrival.
Later during your stay you will be able to order catering service from your host family, and you will feel more like a friend than a guest.
Villa Dionysus is situated in the immediate vicinity of the coast in the turquoise bay of Gradina, only 4 km away from the town of Vela Luka on the breathtaking island of Korcula.
You will be able to enjoy fabulous sea views from the poll terraces and all bedroom balconies, creating an intimate connection with the sea. It is a true paradise for relaxation.
This villa has all modern conveniences to boot, including Air conditioning throughout the whole Villa and Wi-Fi.
If you need to catch up on a few hours of work, where better than on the pool terrace?
Villa Dionysus consists of the main house and a guest house (which, although a part of the villa estate, can be completely separated from the main house).
Six bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms can easily host 12 people (even 14 if children are included).
The main house includes two floors, the ground floor and the first floor.
The ground floor boasts with complete kitchen facilities, including a dining room, a bathroom, and one bedroom with a double bed and a terrace with outdoor terrace furniture.
A few stairs bring you to a mezzanine revealing a luxurious living room with LCD panel and a romantic fireplace.
The first floor exhibits 4 bedrooms each with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom as well as an exit to a balcony with a striking view of the sea which you can admire from the comfortable terrace furniture.
The guest house is situated right next to the main house giving the impression of an apartment: a living room with a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom with a balcony uncovering a stunning view of the sea.
Guest house is ideal for a nanny or a pair of teenagers that need a bit more privacy from the rest of the party.
The surroundings of the villa are rich with Mediterranean vegetation where a path through a small olive tree plantation leads to a pebble-rock beach only 20 meters away.
The swimming pool is the absolute highlight of this villa, endowing it with an aura of peace and nature. It is heated and has a waterfall, salt water and a massage Jacuzzi on the terrace.
The terrace surrounding the pool is equipped with large day beds with loads of cushions - perfect to read a book and look onto the sea with a cappuccino or cocktail.
Rounding up this magnificence is a breathtaking view of the sea, the smaller islands and anchored sail boats.
AL FRESCO DINING
There is a hacienda – a thatched terrace located by the pool which can be converted into a closed space (all glass - to keep the beautiful view of the breathtaking turquoise bay still in sight) with a table and chairs as well as an external grill.
It is ideal for family meals, social gatherings and parties.
Apart from the Finnish sauna there is also an internal Jacuzzi, a massage unit and fitness devices in the Wellness-spa area.
Cook and cleaning service are available at request, as well as excellent massage and on-site spa treatments.
Since the pool is heated and the hacienda/terrace can be completely closed, this makes Villa Dionysus an ideal destination in the winter months as well.
Beautiful landscaped Mediterranean gardens lead directly to a jetty and pebble beach ideal for swimming.
Beautiful lighting helps create an incredibly romantic atmosphere when spending the evening by the pool.
You will be surprised with how many stars are shining on the sky above you, and they will remind you of how fast life goes by and how important is to enjoy each and every second…
The closeness of the Dalmatian islands allows you to easily visit and explore them all.

Just 5 minute drive away is also the busier towns of Vela Luka and the ferry port that connects this part of the Island with Split airport.
Whilst in the town, make sure to stock up on fresh fish, fruit and vegetables from the local market and get some more local red and white wine from the villa owner (you will certainly fall in love with it after you open owner complimentary bottle in the villa).
The best part of having this wonderful host at your service is that they are pleased to stock you with their home grown tomato, potato, salad and other fruits, coming from their own garden with lots of love and care.
If you feel like getting to know them, they will invite you into their own home (a villa itself, nothing less glamorous than yours!) and you will be treated again with Elda’s gastronomic specialties!
Otherwise they respect your privacy if you feel more like being on your own and you don’t even notice them (they take care of the garden and pool water quality every day early in the morning).
Slightly further away (40 km) is the charming town of Korcula, a must for
- art lovers,
- history enthusiasts and
Korcula has an abundance of galleries and fabulous restaurants, not to mention the charm of a medieval town with the surrounding walls, city towers with cocktail bars on top and adorable small shops with beautiful unique jewelry!
Gradina Bay, where the villa resides, has a variety of mostly small pebble beaches bordered by pine woods. You can find natural bays with crystal clear sea, fine pebble beaches, rocky beaches, and some sandy sections as well.
The pebble beaches and calm seas surrounding the island are inviting, alluring and ideal for exploring, fishing and boating; as well as providing abundant opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving to see the beautiful underwater sites.
Nearby is a large native pine forest, suited for hiking and bike riding during the entire year.
Many secluded beaches are accessible only through hiking trails or by boat. Owners will help you rent a small (or big) boat and you can reach all those secluded beaches and be alone there, which is a rare luxury.
There is a small restaurant in the village (300 m from the villa, directly at the sea), a small bakery stand (200 m), and all the rest (cafe, restaurants, supermarkets, market, post office, doctor…etc.,) is 5 minutes drive away in Vela Luka (4 km).
What to discover in Korcula and its surroundings?
-Medieval Korcula old town, being 45 km distanced from the Villa Dionysus, retains charming authenticity of old Venetian coastal town with protective city walls and towers.
-If glamour and sophistication sound up your street this summer, then head to Dubrovnik (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, 140 km away), where famous summer festival takes place each year with the best actors, singers and dancers of the world
-Head with Catamaran (1 hour) to the island of Hvar, called also Croatia’s Saint Tropes – glamorous palms, fancy yachts, party cocktail bars and amazing old town with neighboring private islands attract many of the world celebrities.
There is plenty of information at the site and owners would gladly offer tips and advice. The exquisite location of the villa, the large pool and a light breeze (summer mistral) will enable you to experience uplifting moments in the hot summer days of your vacation.
I fell in love with this property. We are a travel & property management agency and we handpick who we do business with very carefully.
The owners of the Villa, Elda, Dinko and son Ivan are such a warmhearted people! One feels more like a friend there, rather than the renter.
They are very sophisticated people, full of good energy. I cherish their high-end customer service, which is a rare find on the island :-) They used to live in South Africa for a very long time so they know what guest satisfaction, customer service and friendliness is all about.
They love plants and olive trees and Ivan and Dinko lovingly take care of the garden around the villa - they do it in the early morning hours, while guests are still asleep.
Elda on the other hand cooks like in Heaven, so it is easy to fall in love with the local food - many guest order her catering service over and over again. The best thing is, she cooks with love and attention, and one can really taste the difference. They have an eco-garden at home and most of the vegetables and fruit comes from there, so be ready for a real treat.
Sometimes guest want fish and meat to be prepared in the villa, so Dinko and Ivan come and do the BBQ in front of the guest. This is the time when you will find out a lot about the local life, great tips and tricks, local attractions that official travel guides know nothing of and most interestingly, the way local people live nowadays.
This is an inspiring story and I myself often think of the wisdom and rituals local people practice there.
This is how they keep a vital longevity and extremely good mood!
Tanja Gutenmorgen purchased this villa in 2008
Villa Dionysus is placed in a bay very well protected bay from the winds, so many sailing boats like to spend a night in the bay. This creates a magical picture when the sun comes down - local people like to say that in this bay one can see the most beautiful sunset on the Island!
We believe that at the end, it is not about the property. It is about enjoying the simple things in life. Spending time with family and friends, enjoying good food, appreciating all that beautiful nature has to offer. Here our guests can reconnect with themselves, with the nature, leave behind their stresses and discover what truly matters to them in life.
The stage is set. It is yours to make an appearance. And make it memorable...
Hosts offer 5-star service in arranging deliveries of fresh food (the day’s seafood, fruits and vegetables), restaurant reservations, wine tastings and olive oil-lavendar massages at the villa’s spa.
There is nothing like having a massage on the pool terrace with the view of the sea!
Feel free to send us a list of groceries with which you wish us to stock the villa for you.
Enjoy this quite, peaceful surrounding, away from it all, yet in a direct vicinity of many cultural, natural and artistic points of interest.
I enjoyed with my family in fabulous villa with exceptional views, ocean at the bottom of the garden and great weather. Family holiday on this quiet location was very relaxing and the weather was great. I suggest you send better travel information, because it was very difficult to find the villa. Owner waiting in Vela Luka and driving in front of you would be even a better solution.
Wonderful time away. Very relaxing holidays in a cozy and very clean villa with excellent facilities and friendly owners. Villa is on a great location and has beautiful ocean view and access to the sea. There is also a lovely small town Vela Luka, just a short drive away.
It would be great if there were a little more lighting in the patio area. And I also suggest that you should let the potential rentals know that the owners are willing to meet them in Vela Luka and guide them to the villa. I drove from Zadar to Vela Luka instead of taking the ferry from Split because the ferry arrived in Vela Luka after dark. I didn't think I could easily find the villa in the dark, so I chose to drive so that I could arrive before dark and, so, more easily find the villa. The ferry is a much better option if there is someone to guide you to the villa.
We had a very relaxing stay in a very private villa with wonderful ocean views and ocean access. Swimming in the warm Adriatic was a delight. The amenities at the villa were wonderful (pool, sauna, game room, lovely outdoor areas, lovely views) and the hosts were very accommodating.
Excellent, amazing. This is a stunning villa in a perfect location with the ocean at the bottom of the garden. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped, everything you could possibly need for a wonderful holiday. It was exactly as described, in fact better than we could have hoped for. The owners were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were fantastic and the games room went down a treat.
There is a lovely seafood restaurant just a one minute stroll from the villa and some equally good places to eat in Vela Luka.
This villa is a must if you are a large group or family. Fantastic. I would suggest flying to Split as it's a much easier journey than Dubrovnik.
Croatia is renowned for its awe inspiring seaside, thousands of Islands (which makes it a dream sailing destination), fascinating history, gastronomic delights, fine wines and architectural masterpieces.
Island of Korcula fills people with inspiration, creativity and enormous energy which come from the combination of the fascinating lush pine forests, postcard-like turquoise crystal clear sea and the welcoming care of local people.
What to discover in Korcula and its surroundings?
- Medieval Korcula old town, being 45 km distanced from the Villa Dionysus, retains charming authenticity of old Venetian coastal town with protective city walls and towers.

- National park Mljet (unspoiled island with untouched nature, 2 salty lakes and interesting history)) 60 km away.
- Boat trip to Split
- Island Hopping
- Trekking and Hiking
- Wine tasting
- Scuba diving
- Wind surfing
We absolutely recommend a drive to the Pupnat bay (Pupnatska Luka - a bay with a beautiful pebble beach), where you can have a great swim.
Korcula Island is a central Dalmatian island with an area of 270 km2 (46.5 km length, 5-8 km width ).
Gradina Bay is about 45 km away from Korcula town, famous for its knight games with swords (called Moreska), which are a great tourist attraction, especially for children.
It takes place in the beautiful old town in an open theater under the stars.
After the knight games you can enjoy a cocktail in the 'Massimo' bar in the tower of the old city walls, to where you have to climb the ladder (ladies beware – skirts not recommended).
For the end of the evening treat yourself with dinner in an authentic atmosphere in one of the restaurants with a sea view, and you will experience a great trip!
You may also wish to go on day trip to the island Proizd, because the beaches are truly breathtaking, not to mention the lovely experience of sailing with the boat.
Proizd was chosen as the 'Best beach of Croatia' in year 2007 by Croatian tourist authorities - We would quite agree with the selection! :)
We recommend that you take with you a sun shade, water and some food, although there is one (and only) restaurant on the island.
We also recommend that you rent a boat in Vela Luka, and then catch your own dinner, not forgetting to enjoy the privacy of little bays and secluded beaches, reachable only by boat.
HOW TO REACH US
Villa Dionysus is only 4 km away from Vela Luka, or about 40 km from Korcula town.
The most convenient airports are those in Dubrovnik and Split. In order to make the most of your trip, we recommend hiring a car - all the main car hire companies have desks at Dubrovnik and Split airports (this is a good and affordable agency: http://dubrovnik.airport-car-hire.net/cheap-car-hire-dubrovnik.html).
There are regular ferry services between Split and Vela Luka or from Dubrovnik to Korcula town.
a) Flying to Dubrovnik: if you choose to fly to beautiful, medieval Dubrovnik you can drive to Orebic town (on the Peljesac peninsula), where the local ferry to Korcula goes every 30 minutes. It takes only 15 minutes to cross from Orebic town to Domince port (Korcula), and from there you have 40 km to reach us.
b) Flying to Split: a car ferry from Split to Vela Luka goes twice a day, it takes about 2.5 hours to get to Vela Luka (Korcula). Once per day there is a Catamaran (passengers only) going from Split to Vela Luka directly (2 hours).
The Split option is faster, but Dubrovnik is a more scenic trip. Once you arrive to Vela Luka, Villa Dionysus is only a short 5 minute drive from the town center.
