About Shawn and Jeanette Lawson
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways): Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently. In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today). In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station. In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well. Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.

Wow, it’s difficult to decide where to begin with this one! The condo is absolutely perfect. Like many others who have reviewed the property, we certainly hope to return and stay again. The decor is warm and welcoming. Everything is exactly as it is pictured online. Above all, it was so clean!! After we checked out, the property manager checked in with us to ensure everything was in tip-top shape. Highly recommend!!
Lovely and well appointed villa right across from the beach did not disappoint! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the villa itself was very clean. We can’t wait to stay here again!
The Perfect Beach Cottage
Only 211 steps from the beach, this cottage was perfect! Very cute decor and great amenities including WiFi, washer/dryer, a Keurig, all add up to an easy, relaxing vacation! Kiawah was beautiful and we enjoyed our visits to downtown, about a 45 minute fun drive. We would recommend to everyone!
Great location near beach - walking distance.
Property was beautifully decorated. However, not much storage in kitchen for items that we brought with us. Also bed needs step stool for those of us who are short. Items provided for our stay were great and the management could not have been more helpful.
Kiawah Island - A Great Place to Escape!
The Vila was absolutely perfect for the 2 of us. I truly mean that. It was just as shown online and had everything you could ask for. The attention to detail, not only in the accommodations but also in its management, was at a high level. The cleanliness was remarkable. I even mentioned that to my wife who completely agreed. We were literally less than 50 steps to the beach which was a really nice beach. For those familiar with the fine white sand of the Jersey beaches, this was just like that. It was beautiful! I recommend having or renting bikes. You can ride the many miles of paths with ease and even better appreciate the beauty of the Island. In summary, it was all First Class and never disappointed in any way. It was also very relaxing. We will return again, maybe in the Fall.
Loved the Beach Cottage! The property managers thought of everything!
Loved Kiawah Island and our stay at the Beach Cottage! Clean and decorated beautifully. Would love to stay here again and again.
