The cabin also has a deluxe 7 person spa, central heat and air, a fully furnished kitchen, washer and dryer and comes fully furnished. Walk down the driveway and go fishing, mtn. bike or hike nearby Joyce Kilmer Forest. Explore scenic byways like the Cherohala Skyway or the Tail of the Dragon. The Perfect Place if Remote is your Style

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was wonderful. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you. It was beautiful, the nearby stream was gorgeous, the and hot tub was a treat. It is a great place to reconnect with family or read or any other quiet activity. The gravel road along the stream makes a great place for a long walk.

It is about 30-35 minutes to the nearest town with a full-size grocery store and other comforts, so prepare for a good amount of driving if you need to leave the cabin for just about anything.

It was perfect for us though and I would highly recommend it!

Extremely Comfortable & Incredibly Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin was perfect.

The kitchen is well-stocked - coffee maker (2!), coffee grinder, spices, toaster, wine glasses, crockpot, you name it. It was extremely clean. And not that you'll need it, but cleaning supplies are available under the kitchen sink.

There were plenty of towels and linens, in case you need an extra shower after playing in the creek or if you need extra blankets on a cold night.

The temps were low 60's at night, and low 70's during the day. We threw open the windows and let nature keep us cool and warm.

The creek isn't very visible this time of year from the porch, but you can hear it perfectly. Hummingbirds are everywhere, which are beautiful to watch on the front porch while sipping coffee.

The only thing I'd particularly highlight is that the drive puts you roughly 30 minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, etc. But it's a beautiful drive and quite scenic. There's a really cool gas/convenient station about 15 minutes out, but we never stopped there. And I'm not sure how much they offer.

Oh! And the county is dry, so bring your bottle of wine if you prefer to sip some. Bryson City has a great brewery, and there's a beautiful (and yes, full of twists & turns) drive to get there.

Just down the drive from the Cabin, we walked the dirt road for a mile up the stream. We met some neighbors who were incredibly kind and let all our dogs play. One day we drove over to Snowbird Back Country area and hiked an 8-mile round trip trail to see some beautiful falls.

Would I recommend this cabin? Absolutely

Is it secluded? Wonderfully so.

Does nature abound? In the best of ways.

Will you enjoy your trip to the Cabin? No doubt about it.

Thank you for a wonderful solution to a much needed R&R getaway. -Heather, Kris, Oskar & Atticus (our two canine kids)

Best time in a while

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was one you were already excited about after looking at on the web. However, it by far exceeds our expectations. Very well kept, everything you need for a retreat, probably the cleanest hot-tub we've ever encountered, comfortable bedding, etc (I could go-on)... The Claybon's are awesome people and Ginger even left us cookies. Now the outside, we actually spent a whole day just meandering the logging trails around the property, lots of sight-seeing here and fishing also, if that's your thing. We will be back...

Thanksgiving getaway

  • 5 of 5

First of all, Brad and Ginger were wonderful "hosts/owners" and were communicative and responsive right from the start. Ginger even baked delicious chocolate cookies and had them ready for our arrival - how great is that? :-) They both met us a little after we arrived and walked us through a few things around the cabin; they also were able to show us some trails on a map they provided that were close by.

About the cabin: The cabin itself is tucked away and about 25-30 min from the nearest town with grocery store, etc. and we didn't have cell service (they do have Wifi at the cabin, so you're not completely out of touch) but that definitely adds to the charm of being able to "unplug" and get away. We were able to take our kids to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest for a little trail adventure and there are heaps of other interesting trails nearby. It's a great area for being outdoors.

The kitchen has all the amenities that you need for cooking a big meal, the beds were very comfy and we loved using the hot tub and the outdoor fire pit.

We would recommend this cabin to others. (Just be aware that you will have to lug your trash with you when you leave.) Brad and Ginger are lovely and their cabin is a great spot to unwind and take it easy!

Privacy serenity nature & all the comforts of home -

  • 5 of 5

We cant say enough nice things about Brad & Ginger's wonderful home, or Brad & Ginger too.

W Buffalo Creek area is a secret, tucked away in the middle of the beautiful Robbinsville area.

The house itself is as complete as your own home, maybe more so !

Just bring your personal stuff and food.

We were there at Halloween and brought a pumpkin. On arrival we saw that Ginger had already decorated with pumpkins and other fall goodies, a pleasant welcome for us.

Also a cookie jar filled with delicious fresh baked cookies. Which did not last long.

The hot tub is perfect after a long day of hiking up the mountain or wading the many trout filled creeks in the area. [short drive to Santeetlah/Snowbird Creeks]

We started and ended our day in the hot tub.

The house itself is very comfortable and a wonderful example of N Carolina woodwork. Pay attention to the fantastic beams and trimming out of the windows set into those thick log walls.

Ginger has decorated the home in such a way that you will feel "at home" the second you walk through the door. None of that "well it will do for a short vacation" feeling.

We loved our time there and nothing was missing from our vacation in Brad & Gingers wonderful home setting.

Hiking - you can follow W Buffalo Creek till it splits, stay right and go up the mountain or you can drop down across the creek bridge and follow the trail down to the Snowbird Creek water shed.

Up is harder but not too difficult, higher elevation too. Walking sticks always help crossing the many small creeks that trickle down from the mountains.

Fishing- W Buffalo Creek is small but I caught fish each time I waded the creek. Small but feisty rainbows.

I didn't fish the wild trout section.

Snowbird Creek is a short drive, especially if you go over the top and down Hard Slate Gap road.

Go past the bridges crossing the Big/Little Snowbird creeks and fish the large delayed harvest pools at the top before the wild trout water begins. I caught too many feisty fat rainbows & browns to count in the delayed harvest waters, and a couple of brookies too.

Sneak up to the pools from below and keep a low profile, fishing 15' - 30' in front. The fish are there, so don't give up. I switched colors till they hit, then it was a 4 day free for all.

Felt bottom boots are a must if you wade like me, and it is the best way to catch lots of trout.

Upstream wading, never down.

Enjoy, we certainly did.
