Dave and I met in high school in Seattle over 50 years ago. We've had the privilege of owning this property for 30 years and we retired from our jobs four years ago. The last four years have been spent building our antique show-room and updating our property.
We love the area and Dave was tired of living in a motorhome on the weekends along with our four daughters and three dogs. One morning while on vacation, Dave woke me up to tell me he was going fishing and he wanted me to find a home on Hat Creek...so I did. The property speaks for itself. It's beautiful.
Too many to list.
Feels like home as soon as you walk in. So we'll supplied. Nedra was so pleasant to work with and most welcoming . We used this as our base to discover Lassen Volcanic National Park, so beautiful. I highly recommend this home and will be back.
I booked this place not really knowing what to expect. I spoke on the phone a few times with the owner and she seemed so very sweet. And we found that to be true. When we arrived, we were blown away. The pictures don't do it justice. It was exactly what our group needed. We had 5 adults and 2 dogs and couldn't have had a better time. We were ready to book our next trip after being there just a few hours!
We can't wait to go again.
What a great time . All four of us did not want go back to the big city life. The weather was ideal ate like kings and slept so well. Oh yes the fishing was not so good but who cares we had so many laughs ,watched the U.S. open on the monster screen. Dave and Nedra great hosts if you needed anything day or midnight just ask. Why would you get a motel room where for the same price you can rent the whole house. Maybe Dave will take you golfing in his fancy golf cart. Sincerely peachman
We had the chance to return to Brookhaven Rest. I cannot begin to tell someone how peaceful, roomy, restful and tranquil this rental is. As usual, Dave and Nedra were the best hosts you could ask for. They are always there to help and have the best information about the surrounding area. They are wonderful, down to earth people. They even gave up the secret fishing spots on the property. We had 2 additional couples with us this time. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit, sleep and eat. We didn't even have any bathroom mishaps. All, (except for the additional people) was so wonderful, I wish I lived closer so I could visit more. This is a clean, happy, home feeling rental. I am going back again in August, but wish I could go another time this year. I live in Southern California, so the 10 1/2 hour drive is a long way. If you love peace, quite, nature, fishing or anything else, this is absolutely the place to stay. I am jealous of anyone who gets to stay there besides me. I would stay all summer if I could.
For starters, Dave and Nedra are the nicest people I have ever met. I feel like I have made a great friendship with them. Thanks to a cancellation, I had my chance to finally stay on the property. This is absolutely a home away from home. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of Nedra, I had the opportunity to take a 2nd visit to Old Station and it was sorely needed and appreciated more than anyone would know. This property is outstanding. It's peaceful and beautiful. Plenty of room for a "gang." With all the privacy you could ever ask for, this is a wonderful place to fish. We caught our limits on fish. It is obvious this property is immaculately kept and Dave and Nedra have great pride in it, as they should. There is stuff (spices, plates, hot chocolate, etc.) in the cabinets in the event you forgot something. The big screen television with Dish is amazing. Finally, a place with real television! The propane bar-b-q on the patio makes grilling meals so easy. The furniture and bedrooms have the most comfortable stuff you don't want to leave ad go home. The bathrooms and showers are like being at home. I will never stay anywhere else and will always accept additional says in the event someone needs to cancel. Thank you Nedra and Dave for having a property I can call "My slice of Heaven."
We had a wonderful stay, Nedra was so pleasant and informative, we couldn't have had a more gracious hostess. Our family fully enjoyed fishing on the property and my 5 year old Grandson caught his first fish here. There were plenty of things to do a short distance from the cabin as well, swimming and fishing at Lake Britain in The Burney Falls Park, the Crystal Lake fish hatchery, the fun sculptures at the edge of Cassel, and of course the subway caves. The kitchen was pleasantly stocked, we did use the BBQ, roasted our marshmallows and made so mores, we did not use the fire pit due to dry conditions and didn't want to risk it. All in all we totally enjoyed our time there, thanks so much Nedra & David hope to see you again next year!
