Grand Champions 108 is made for romance. The balcony of the one-bedroom condo looks out over the complex’s lush grounds toward the Haleakala Mountains. Furnished with a patio table and chairs, it’s an idyllic spot for beginning your day among the frangipani-scented breeze and for sipping a glass of wine beneath the star-studded sky at night. But the balcony is hardly the only thing this unit has to recommend it. There are the elegant furnishings, the resort’s swimming pools and Jacuzzis, and the convenient location, on the fairways of the Wailea Old Blue Golf Course, adjacent to the Wailea Tennis Club, and less than a mile from Ulua Beach.
The perfect romantic getaway requires a beautifully appointed bedroom, and that of Grand Champions 108 does not disappoint. The king-size bed is sumptuous, the room spacious, the rug plush beneath your bare feet. There’s a flat-panel TV should you want to watch a late-night movie and lamps flanking the bed so that one of you can stay up reading while the other goes to sleep. The bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate vanity area with dual sinks. The unit has a second full bathroom as well so that you can both get ready for a night on the town at the same time.
Grand Champion 108’s living/dining/kitchen area is especially large for a 1-bedroom condo, with enough seating for you to host a dinner party. Or perhaps you’d rather stretch out on the leather couch to watch your favorite show on the oversize flat-panel TV or nestle in the armchair with your tablet to upload photos onto Instagram (Grand Champions 108 has free WiFi).
When you’re not dining alfresco on the balcony, you can gather inside at the glass-top table, which seats four in chairs with jaunty flora-patterned cushions. There’s room for three more at the adjacent breakfast bar. The open, bright kitchen features a full array of stainless-steel appliances, cookware, and tableware. Even if you eat most of your meals at the numerous nearby restaurants—which specialize in everything from traditional Hawaiian to Italian to American steakhouse fare—you’ll love the convenience of having a freezer to supply ice cubes for frosty drinks and a coffee maker so that you can brew a cup first thing in the morning. And while we’re on the subject of convenience, Grand Champions 108 has its own washer and dryer. You can pack light without having to waste precious vacation time in a Laundromat!
The 11-acre Wailea Grand Champions complex has 2 outdoor pools, one for families and the other just for adults. The green sea turtles painted on the bottom of the pools add a dash of whimsy while complementing the verdant fronds of the towering palm trees surrounding the patios. After your swim, you can laze on a poolside chaise, enjoy a snack at a table beneath the shade of a sun umbrella, or luxuriate in a Jacuzzi. If you have a hankering for barbecue, you can cook for yourself at one of the complex’s two grill areas.
The closest beach to Grand Champions 108 is Ulua. Just a fifteen-minute stroll away, it’s known for excellent snorkeling for beginners and intermediates alike, as well as for prime swimming and bodyboarding conditions. Slightly farther—about a half-hour by foot or five minutes by car—is the renowned Wailea Beach. For a different sort of outdoor adventure, drive up to Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary, less than a half-hour away; it’s home to more than 90 species of birds, including the endangered Hawaiian coot and Hawaiian stilt. For more-urbane pursuits, you can walk to the Shops at Wailea in about ten minutes and explore its galleries, stores, and restaurants.
However you spend your days, you’ll love returning to Grand Champions 108 afterward. Book your stay today… before someone else beats you to it!
