CEDAR CLIFF LODGE @ BEAR LAKE RESERVE. Enjoy the perfect vacation with great outdoor opportunities and top-notch resort amenities at our cottage in Bear Lake Reserve. Nestled in a OPEN MEADOW at 2500 feet above sea level and surrounded by MOUNTAIN VIEWS, our cottage offers an ideal landscape for children and dogs to ramble safely outside while you watch it all from the comfort of our screened in porch. If it is just the two of you, walk out our front door on to a trail that leads you by cold streams, wooded coves, and long range mountain views as you make your way to Cedar Cliff Lake. After the invigorating walk, build a fire on screened in porch, pour a cool drink and take turns identifying the birds as they fly through the great outdoors that surround you.

Once you are fully relaxed, you may want to venture out and explore the many options within the 2,300 acre Bear Lake Reserve: Rent a pontoon boat, hike 17 miles of groomed trails - go fishing - enjoy a spa treatment - workout in the gym - take a sauna, steam or jacuzzi - reserve the cinema for a private film - play golf on the Jack Nicklaus designed mountain top course - cook up a feast in our cottage kitchen or visit the Lake Club with it's full service restaurant and tavern. You can do ALL this and more without ever leaving Bear Lake Reserve.

Upon arrival at Cedar Cliff Lodge you will be met by our concierge. You will be given a cottage orientation that will answer any questions you may have. Most important the concierge can help plan your vacation tailored to your individual needs. Start your vacation off by being fully knowledgeable about what the community offers plus all the other outdoor adventures available in this wonderful area we call home. If you are a nature lover and enjoy hiking, we can provide detailed information on hiking in Panthertown Valley and other unique hikes in the Nantahala National Forest. We have hiking routes from very easy to strenuous. We are here to make your vacation the one to remember! Our goal is to have you back for your next mountain experience.

Beyond Bear Lake Reserve the nearby towns of Cashiers, Highlands and Sylva offer shops and restaurants worthy of a Travel Channel special. Slightly further is the Smoky Mountain National Park, white water rafting at the NOC, the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as the Biltmore Estate and all that Asheville has to offer.

Send us an inquiry today and we will provide a detailed rental proposal rate confirmation, site map and details on Cashiers, Highlands, Dillsboro and Asheville to help plan a great vacation.

About William H Clark 'Bill'

Hi - We're the Jordan's - cottage owners at Bear Lake. In the attached photo we are enjoying the views from the golf course at Bear Lake Reserve. Not pictured is our Boston Terrier Milo, he ran down a trail and missed the photo! We enjoy our cottage as a place to relax and a base for outdoor expeditions. We hope you will visit our place soon and find your way to enjoy the N.C. mountains.

William H Clark 'Bill' purchased this cottage in 2006

Why William H Clark 'Bill' chose Tuckasegee

We live in the Atlanta and wanted a mountain retreat that was far away from the city but a convenient weekend drive. Bear Lake offered great cottage construction, amazing outdoor options and amenities of a resort. Over time we enjoy it even more when we meet our friends who return each year.

What makes this cottage unique

* Groomed hiking trails - one is steps away from the cottage

* Lake Club - 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, restaurant, pub, work out facility, massage rooms, sauna

* Jack Nicklaus Golf course - amazing views!

* tennis courts

* stocked fishing pond

* back porch with fireplace -- our favorite place to relax!

Though the lake is slightly farther away from the cabin than we expected, it was wonderful! We enjoyed the home and the Lake Club.

Great time with the kids

  • 3 of 5

Very nice, clean and peaceful place to visit. We all enjoyed the comfort of the screened in porch area the most. The stay could not have been more enjoyable except for the refrigerator malfunction, the repairs made to the A/C unit to get the rooms cooled down, and the washing machine breaking down hard, wringing clothes out by hand, while on vacation wasn't fun.

Owner's Response: We are very sorry for the inconveniences you encountered on your vacation. We tried our best to avoid issues, the issues you did encounter were of the unforeseen type. Unfortunately, you had several and I apologize for the problems. We have had the A/C serviced and the washer machine problem is scheduled. The refrigerator was repaired as you know the night of your arrival. Thank you for your visit to Cedar Cliff Lodge and glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves, I enjoyed meeting you and your family, maybe we will see each other again.

Really nice house and resort area.

  • 5 of 5

We shared the house with another family, totaling 4 adults and 3 boys ages 5-8. We had plenty of room and the house was very nicely decorated and maintained. Loved the outdoor porch and fireplace. Bear Lake is great over all. The pool and club facility was perfect for the kids. We enjoyed renting a pontoon boat and tubing on the lake. Plenty of waterfalls and sightseeing in the area. We'd definitely recommend.

Bear Lake and home are beautiful

  • 4 of 5

At a home and resort of this quality I expect certain things:

A hairdryer

Soap/shower gel

I understand that internet can be difficult in the mountains and for us, the wifi was not consistent.

The pillow top/mattress covering in the MBR was very lumpy and uncomfortable.

That said, we still had a very enjoyable stay.
