The house is beautiful, and big enough for a large group. We had 8 adults who were not under each other’s feet. The owners have provided everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The house is located a very short walk to the big highlights in Avignon.
Beautiful house, but little bit confusing
First of all we didn't expect that there was nobody to welcome us to the house (maybe that's normal, so don't consider this a complaint). When we finally found out how to open the door to the house and entered there was this overwhelming smell of honey scented diffusers. It was just too much. It was hot in the house so we went upstairs to turn on the airconditioning. We struggled to get it working and we were dripping with sweat. When it started working there was no airflow at all and it was a central airconditioning in all the 4 bedrooms. I believe the house was renovated 6 years ago, so I messaged the landlord who explained not to expect a 5 star luxury airconditioning experience as at is an old house. I didn't quite understand what that had to do with the airconditioning. In order to calm down we opened the complementary wine (which was nice). Also, the door to the garden didn't close properly, couldn't find any scissors in the house and there were a lot of private items in drawers, etc. There was also another issue that I mentioned to the Landlord and he told me that he would take care of this so I won't mention it in my review. It took me 2 days to get used to the house and I was a little bit upset because I paid a lot of money for the property and in their description it was described as a 5-star House.
Overall: 2 bedrooms where nice and 2 I found rather stuffy. The decor of the kitchen is beautiful, but here and there not very practical. The garden was lovely. And the small indoor swimming pool was a treat.
Thanks for your review. To clarify for others looking here:
We provide guests with all details to let themselves in and our phone numbers to call on the day. We are there to meet you if we are in the area (this is not always the case and we clarify in advance of your arrival).
We spend several weeks a year there ourselves which is why the house is full of various items (e.g. a shopping trolley, lots of books and DVDs, some childrens' toys) for guests' use. A few are just for us (these are behind a couple of cupboard doors marked private). It is our home and a very old Provencal house so all is not always up to 21st century hotel standards (aircon cools rather than chills - we give you instructions about how to keep the place cool "naturally" in our house handbook). We call the house 5 star because every one but one of our reviews has been noted as 5/5.
Perfect home in central Avignon
This lovely home is exactly as described. The location could not be better. We walked to everything. The home was very comfortable and the garden very private.
Thanks Thomas. Glad you enjoyed the house.
Wow, what a wonderful comfortable apartment in the heart of Avignon with all the modern conveniences - could have stayed a month!
A perfect oasis within the Papal city walls of Avignon. The little city square we were on was picturesque as well. The accommodations are lovely and spacious. Bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed. Kitchen was perfect sized for our family of 5 to relax and enjoy cooking together. Tips from the owners were appreciated and our favorite restaurant was steps away from our front door. E.A.T....a very special place. Loved our stay and the beautiful home we rented. Thanks so much!
We are pleased you had such a good time. Come again...
A real gem; comfortable; easy access to city and region
This place easily accommodated our family of six adults during a week’s stay. Located within the walls of the city with direct access to major sights inside - and main thoroughfares outside - the city walls. Parking, indoor pool, and fully stocked home enabled us to thrive at our own tempos. Owner welcomed us on arrival and helped us get settled instantly.
Thanks Jim. Pleased to have been there to welcome you. Glad you enjoyed the house and the city.
Located in the center of Avignon, close to the Place Crillon and many restaurants.
