Fern Rock Lodge sits on a picturesque 16-acre wooded mountain property with two fire pits, a trail that meanders to a spring-fed swimming pond, outdoor games, rocking chair covered porch, detached screened porch, and sunny deck.
Fern Rock Lodge is a 2200 sq foot rustic, yet elegant log home that offers custom features inside and out. It sleeps up to ten guests in three private bedrooms and the upstairs family room.
Constructed with antique logs, hardwood floors, and wormy chestnut cabinets, Fern Rock Lodge is both spacious and comfortable. When you enter the house from the covered porch, you are welcomed into an open gathering space, which includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining room table with eight chairs, two stools at the island, and a cozy conversation area. On the first floor, you will also find a separate living room, full bathroom with shower, and small den that is used as the third bedroom, when needed.
After going up the open wood staircase, you’ll find an inviting family room, two spacious bedrooms, and a second full bathroom with an antique claw foot bathtub and separate shower.
When you rent Fern Rock Lodge, you can also enjoy Treetop Pavilion, a large, free-standing screened porch that serves as a comfortable and scenic outdoor gathering place. This unique porch is perfect for reading, playing board games, socializing, relaxing, and even sleeping in nice weather. You can walk out onto the Perch, an attached viewing deck that offers a spectacular panorama of the trees in summer/fall and the mountains in winter/early spring.
Fern Rock Lodge is separated from Fox Den and Fawn Hideaway, two smaller log cabins on the property, which can be rented together (see VRBO 1290903). You can rent the entire Fern Rock Mountain Retreat with all buildings - see VRBO 1149774.
This rental includes private use of the Lodge and Treetop Pavilion. The main driveway, Red's Pond, the meadow, and the woods all around the property up to the ridge line are common areas.
Please note that Fox Den is a log cabin on the property that is also used for vacationing guests. The two residences are located apart from each other to allow for privacy. However, because of limited wireless capability, Fox Den guests are told they can come onto the Lodge's side porch periodically if they need wireless access.
Please make every effort to give other guests their privacy.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
1. The cabins are built on a knoll and there are some steep areas. Being sure-footed is necessary for walking between buildings and exploring the property.
2. The Lodge's driveway is steep. All/four wheel drive vehicles recommended in inclement weather. Parking is also available at base of driveway.
3. Children of all ages are very welcome but need adult supervision at all times. Wide-spaced porch railings, some high elevations/steep areas, the hot tub, and the pond are potential hazards. Parents of young children need to be extra vigilant, especially for little ones.
4. If your online directions are taking you on Big Pine, talk with us first. We can provide directions after your reservation is confirmed upon request, but feel free to inquire before booking, if needed.
