The Dive Capital of the World! This Villa is located inside Kawama Yacht Club, a beautiful Hawaiian Island style resort that is situated along the southern border of John Pennekamp National Underwater Park. The grounds have over 30 lush tropically landscaped acres and it is the only resort in Key Largo that has a saltwater lagoon, a 400' fishing jetty and best of all a private oceanfront beach!
In Fall 2015 we completed full renovations to the kitchen which include all new white Shaker style cabinets, all new kitchen appliances, new stainless steel undermount sink, and exotic Granite Counter top/back splash.
Some of the best known restaurants, dive shops, and snorkeling/deep sea fishing charters in all of the Keys can be found only minutes away from the resort. If you love adventure, natural beauty, or just relaxing on the beach while sipping a Piña Colada and gazing at a picturesque sunset, our townhouse in Key Largo is the ideal vacation destination for you!
Typical Day At Kawama Yacht Club: Enjoy a relaxing swim off of our private white sandy beach, BBQ with family at one of our ocean front Tiki Huts, fish for tarpon, snapper or grouper off of the 400' jetty, sunbathe at one of our swimming pools, burn off some calories on our tennis courts, take the kids over to our brand new playground or maybe snorkel in our private saltwater lagoon and swim along side the dozens of exotic fish. These are just some of the activities you and your family can enjoy.
SOME VERY IMPORTANT FACTORS TO CONSIDER:
Many of the most popular vacation rental websites have been infiltrated by more and more con artist that advertise properties and take payments/reservations for properties that do not exist. Also, many private owners throughout the keys are operating illegal vacation rentals in areas not zoned to allow for rentals of less than 28 days. This is an activity that the county is aggressively cracking down on for a variety of reasons. Owners that are caught by Code Enforcement face steep fines and are required to immediately stop advertising and cancel all of their reservations.
So to insure you have the peace of mind in knowing that you are dealing with a legitimate vacation rental manager and will not become the next victim of internet fraud, finding yourself stranded in the keys without a place to stay or reserve from an owner that is running an illegal rental. It is imperative that you make sure the owner/manager you ultimately rent from is licensed by both Monroe County as well as The State of Florida Division of Hotels and Restaurants.
Pest Control is one of my top priorities since all properties located in this tropical environment are vulnerable to becoming infested with roaches, ants, and spiders. Nothing will ruin a family vacation faster than having to share your unit with these unwelcome guests. That is why all my units are treated and inspected on a regular basis by a Professional Extermination Company.

About Licensed Vacation Specialist
As a Miami resident for over 30 years, I have always enjoyed getting away to Key Largo for the fishing, boating, and relaxation that is unique to the area. Being able to share the Key Largo laid back life style with other families from all over the world has truly been one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. Over the years I have been able to meet so many people and share stories with them. They all seem to have the same things in common, they all love experiencing nature and the outdoors in a way that brings them closer together as a family. I am married to a very supportive wife Charlene and have two great kids, Sofia and Fernando Jr. They all love the outdoors just as much as dad. I am a Civil Engineer by trade, having worked for 11 years at a firm in Miami primarily in the areas of Land Development and Highway Design. In the mid 90's I began renting out my second home in Key Largo to generate extra income and as the saying goes 'The rest is history'. I still keep my Engineering License active (worked to hard to get it) and have since obtained my Real-estate License. I am currently a member of the Key Largo Board of Realtors and I'm presently serving as President of the Kawama Yacht Club Board of Directors.

Clean well-taken-care-of place.
Convenient location. Kawama club is vey nice and we felt safe with 24-hour guard. The townhome had just about everything we needed to be comfortable. The only problem my husband had was very low toilet seats although they were just right for me! The owner Fernando is very professional, providing all the instructions we needed before arrival, and responding to my questions promptly. Thank you. We look forward to our next visit .
A Home Away from Home
My wife and I had a very enjoyable two weeks in Key Largo using this townhome as our base. She is an artist and I am a writer, so we appreciate atmosphere, and this townhome offers a warm and cozy ambience that makes you feel like you're right at home. The Wi-Fi (sign in once and you're good for your entire stay), 40-inch HD TV, additional TVs in each bedroom, in-unit washer and dryer, dishwasher, newly refurbished and amazingly well-supplied kitchen, and other features all add to the convenience and feeling of being at home. The covered front patio, screened extension of the living room, screened upstairs balcony, and upstairs private sun deck deserve special mention. Unbelievable! Of course the amenities of the Yacht Club add to the benefits of choosing this rental. I especially like the saltwater lagoon. It is not a new unit (which helps explain its charm), and so something may need replacement or repair while you're there. In our case it was a toilet seat, and Fernando took care of it in a timely manner. He was responsive to all other needs and questions I had as well. Because of its charm, natural beauty, amazing outdoor recreation opportunities, and central location between the keys and the national parks on the mainland, Key Largo is a desirable destination for a nice, long vacation. This unit is an ideal place to settle in, feel at home, and enjoy the island life. We will be back!
Excellent Holiday once again!
I would definitely recommend this property for rental if you want a home from home with total relaxation in the Florida Keys. This was our third visit to this home and have noted the improvements every time we visit. The free WiFi was an added bonus this time, very pleased with that. Property is well maintained and very clean. Location and facilities are excellent. Can not fault anything and cannot wait to return again next year.
I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your stay even more this time. Its what makes what I do so rewarding. As I mentioned to you, next time you come you will be able to enjoy the brand new kitchen that I'm installing this Fall.
1st VRBO Experience
This was our 1st experience w/VRBO & it went just fine. The owner visited us to collect the balance at the date/time that his directions stated that he would. We found the porch door was not closing properly & upon notifying him at that time, he arranged to have it repaired within a day. Our 3 1/2 year son loved the swimming pool. It was very convenient to the villa as was the playground. We appreciated that a previous tenant left a basket of beach toys and an umbrella which we put to good use. As divers we found the villa a short drive from several shops/boats in Key Largo. Tavernier is within 10 miles if divers are looking for a change in scenery. We enjoyed day trips down to Theater of the Sea in Islamorada & Bahia Honda State Park just past Marathon. Kids can have a photo shoot interacting w/dolphins/sea lions. Bahia Honda is perfect for sunbathing, kayaking, snorkeling... we like Calusa Beach as it is shallow & postcard perfect! Closeby, the community park has lots of options for families. The waterpark is a bit pricey we thought but the pirate theme very cute. Also, took in a sunset sailboat ride on Windjammer from the fisheries marina just up the street (probably could have walked down the street to board!) This was our 4th trip to the Keys but we managed to add some new restaurants. The Pilot House had excellent food & gave our son some food to feed the fish through port holes in the bar's glass bottom floor. Sunsets & outdoor dining at Senor Frijoles, Bayside Grille & Lorelei's (Islamorada) are worth it - the food was good too! Other restaurants we enjoyed included Buzzard's Roost, Upper Crust Pizza, Mrs. Mac's & Harriette's. We loved the villa's nautical theme. The washer/dryer was a godsend. The 2 screened porches provided nice breezes to just enjoy the moment. The sun deck was great for when our son cat-napped. Speaking of cats, we liked to walk the property & couldn't believe the big fish in the lagoon. Our only suggestion would be to add a map for the Kawama property since there are several buildings & the marina is currently under reconstruction so some areas are roped off. We very much enjoyed our vacation & would definitely recommend this villa to our family & friends.
