About Chris and Rob Hughes
We are a local couple that are fortunate to live next door to our holiday cottage and so are fully aware of the perfect location of the property. It has only since we bought the house that we have realised just what is available to visitors to the local area and why so many people book with us. When you grow up in an area sometimes you do not see what is right in front of you! We put a lot of energy and effort into ensuring that our guests enjoy the experience of staying at our property from initial contact right through to the end of their stay. We are on hand to assist but not interfere and queries are answered as quickly as possible. Our philosophy is straightforward - create a place that we would love to stay ourselves. And we believe we have succeeded as our reviews will confirm!

Ideal for our stay
Brilliant house to stay in for a big group get away! Great hosts who were very helpful. A very clean and tidy property in a good location with just short distances to Cardiff and Newport.
The cottage was just perfect for our stay. It is has big bedrooms and excellent communal space. Close enough to the centre and far enough out to be peaceful. Great value for money and Chris and Rob were very accommodating.
Thanks so much! We love Cardiff!!!!
Amazing House and great location
We loved our stay at Derwen Fawr! Chris and Rob were very helpful and the house was very clean and had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend. The pub next door was an absolute bonus!
Plenty of room. Really well equiped kitchen.
Quiet location with plenty of space for the seven adults who were staying here. Lounge area is lovely with comfortable sofas and chairs and is so big! We ate in for the 3 nights that we were there and the kitchen is really well equipped. The welcome pack of eggs, milk, bread etc. was a welcome treat and supplemented the food that we had taken with us. We had a day in Cardiff itself and did the centenary tour. We drove to the East park and ride and bussed in from there. The next day we went on a pre-booked tour of the Royal Mint at Llantrisant which every one enjoyed and visited Castell Coch on the way back. On our leaving day we visited the National Trust property of Tredegar House before making our ways home.
Excellent large family home
This is a lovely large family home ideal for extended families to share and have fun together. Set in beautiful countryside with a fabulous pub next door which serves excellent food, loves dogs and children too. Really lovely landlady. Only 15 min drive into Cardiff to see family too. We visited Cefn Mabley Farm which is fab for kids and Castell Coch too. Had a trip down memory lane around Roath Park and visited lots of family. For us a perfect home and location we will be back. The sky tv was a bonus too. The owners live next door and we’re extremely helpful x
Thank you for your review. Whilst it was a pity that the weather was a bit hit and miss it seems that that you found more than enough to do in your relatively short homecoming.
Stayed here for my Hen Do for 2 nights. Lovely cottage in a good location. Not too far to Cardiff and other attractions but in a nice and quiet village. Plenty of space for everyone and the property was clean and tidy. Definitely recommend!
Thank you for your comments and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay!
