This bright, elegant Georgian (1760's) apartment is your perfect pied-a-terre in Central London. Situated in Handel St. a quiet, tree lined side street just off Brunswick Sq. in the heart of Bloomsbury, the flat is barely five minutes walk from Russell Square tube (Piccadilly line) or the red double decker buses on Woburn Place/Southampton Row. A pleasant ten minute walk though Russell Sq Gardens and you're at the British Museum and UCL Campus or walk North to Euston Rd for the British Library and St Pancras (Eurostar). To the South (two tube stops) or 20 minutes walk, takes you to Covent Garden, Shaftesbury Ave and the West End theatres.

The whole building was completely refurbished in 2005 and this second floor flat is a charming place to return to after a busy day of sight seeing or shopping. Retaining the original marble fireplace and cream painted shutters, the high ceilings and long Georgian windows give a feeling of space and light whilst modern, quality furniture ensures your comfort.

Travel to the flat is excellent with Heathrow just an hour away, straight through on the Piccadilly line. The flat is ideally located in Central London, a stone’s throw from Russell Square, the home of the famous British Museum. Russell Square is a perfect location for those visiting London, right in the centre of the action and is part of the historic Bedford Estate.

Close by is the upmarket Brunswick Shopping Centre, where, along with its range of eclectic shops, cafés, restaurants and bars you’ll find the famous Renoir art-house cinema which is great for box office movies. St Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece, is also only a few stops away by tube. Green Park tube station, approximately fifteen minutes journey away, is for Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guards. Regents Park, the home of London Zoo, is only about 20 minutes by tube from the flat. The famous top class Harrods department store is a twenty minute tube ride away at Knights bridge. So, the flat could not be more ideally located whether you’re looking for culture, night-life, shopping, or simply a nice evening meal.

The area also has excellent night bus services if you’re out late at night taking in the sights, eating at one of London’s amazing restaurants, or at a fabulous West End show.

Why Sachin chose Camden & Covent Garden

We wanted a flat that was as central as we could afford, with easy access by tube and by foot to theatres, museums and with local shopping. We stayed at the Russell Sq Hotel for a few nights to attend a family wedding and realized the area answered all these criteria. Quite by chance we found the property in nearby Handel St.It was in the process of being refurbished and the flats just coming on the market. It didn't take long to decide that we wanted to buy. The building itself is lovely, 1760's Georgian with long windows looking out onto a quiet side St. and an easy walk to the British Museum and moments from nearby shopping.

What makes this apartment unique

The flat is amazingly convenient for all the urban delights offered by being in such a central situation. The nearby Brunswick Centre re-opened recently with it's fun shops and restaurants and The British Museum is a 10 minute stroll across Russell Sq. But the extra bonus is the Eurostar Terminal at St. Pancras. In ten minutes or so you can wheel your bag up to the check in, hop on the early morning train and 2 hours later enjoy a mid morning coffee and croissant in Paris or Brussels!

The apartment is great, it is nicely furnished and offers plenty of space and is equipped with everything you need on holiday, the great location makes this minor flaw, however, up for it. SACHIN was very courteous and communication with him was pleasant and uncomplicated

FANTASTIC FIRST STOP IN EUROPE!

We could not have asked for a better location. just a short walk from Kings Cross station, easy to find and safe surroundings. Didn't take long at all to get to downtown London and enjoyed not staying in a quieter yet still convenient location. A mall and shopko are a short walk away and have lots of choices for groceries, delicious restaurant/pub O'Neills was the perfect distance to get a nice walk in after dinner. Lots of choices for food and drink on the way from the station to the home. So glad we stayed and would love to return on our next trip!

Great location & clean comfortable beds

Pros:

Flat is a 5 minute walk to Russell Square station on the Piccadilly line (comes straight in from Heathrow). The apartment is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Saint Pancras station where Eurostar is located. Apartment has Wi-Fi, foldout futon, & a separate double-bed bedroom. It has heat & is clean. The beds/ mattresses are good & comfortable. Safe & quiet neighborhood. There is a nice grocery store, good restaurants & shops within a 2-3 minute walk. The bath has a combination tub and shower & has hairdryer. In the kitchen there is soap to wash dishes, a medium refrigerator with a separate freezer, a sink & a dish drainer, a small stove with four gas burners and an oven. The pantry has some staples. There are pots and pans, dishes, knives, & stainless forks, knives, spoons. In the kitchen there is a toaster, microwave, & electric tea kettle. In the main room, there is a fold out futon, table & four chairs, cable TV and Wi-Fi, and a coffee table. In the separate bedroom there is the double bed and a wardrobe.

Cons: Flat is on the third floor in American terms. Upon entry into the apartment there is a recessed area about 1 inch deep that should accommodate an entry mat but the mat placed in this recessed area is not large enough to fill the area which creates a trip hazard. There is no air conditioning or a fan that works. There are windows that open but they have no screens and there is little to no cross ventilation. There is a washing machine in the kitchen but only a drying rack. There is no clothes washing soap. Some of the kitchen's floor tiles are loose & a few are cracked. Hot water only lasts for one shower & then has to replenish so make sure you do not wash dishes or any clothes when you intend to take a shower. In the narrow bathroom, the bath and shower has a little mold growing under the caulk. The sink is narrow & has little space to put anything that you need except maybe a comb or toothbrush. In the bathroom there is only one small hook to hang things such as a towel or your clothing. There is no soap or shampoo with which to take a bath & wash your hair. The window frames are loose & in the bathroom the bottom frame is rotted. Don't try to open the bathroom window as frame is fragile. The toilet only takes a few strips of toilet paper per use, so be careful. The toilet is between a side wall & the bathtub and is so tight that you have difficulty doing "business." Some evidence of bugs & mice.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback however some of the cons are not true and considered as normal in UK terms. Let me clarify a few here. Most of the flat in the UK dont have air con as we never need it in the UK as the summer never last long enough and temperature hardly ever exceeds 30 degrees. Saying this I still have TWO FANS in the flat so you could have used them and i remember rightly when you stayed in May it was a bit chilly and summer had not even kicked in so not sure why you would need air con. Windows don't have screen - again there are CURTAINS in both rooms so not sure why this is an issue and most flats in london have curtains as this then goes with the theme of the flat and screens get damaged easily too and can see through screens if not closed properly. You were aware in advance that no soaps and shampoos are included so not sure why this is a surprise as its a flat and not hotel with housekeeping department and all my guest come prepared for this as they are made aware of this pre arrival. Regarding the size of the bathroom it has the luxury of having a bath after long day walking around london and lot of my guest enjoy it hence the toilet space is a bit small. It is exactly like the pics you would have seen before you booked. Also there is a ventilator fan in the bathroom and window is closed for safety so no need to open the window. I can see window ws forced to open during your stay and hence slightly damaged even after it says DO NOT OPEN. Another normal thing for us Brits is to not use water in the sink when having shower as the water pressure in the shower can decrease. Its normal practice weather in the flat or a big house as water pressure has an impact obviously if used at various places in the house at the same time. Tiles damaged are being replaced as we speak. Being OCD myself I cannot believe you felt there was evidence of bugs in the flat as there is absolutely no chance of this and intact the whole blocks get regular pest control. Please clarify what you meant by this and what do you consider as evidence as its very UNFAIR to criticise my flat of bugs when there aren't any. Anyways from my side it was a pleasure to host you. None of my previous guest have had any issues like you as you can see from other reviews. Maybe consider booking a 5 star hotel for future and paying a 5star price for it. Fantastic location

Sachin was an accommodating host, waiting to welcome us even though our flight was delayed. The apartment had everything we needed, and the location was just great; near Russell Sq tube (as well as Kings Cross and St Pancras), plus Tesco, Sainsbury (local supermarkets), and lots of shops and restaurants. All of this, and it's still a quiet place. You really couldn't ask for anything better.

BTW, we were traveling with our two teenage daughters and they slept very comfortably on the pull out couch.

Excellent family stay

It was our first time using VRBO. It was a great experience. Our trepidation of arriving somewhere prepaying our stay without a 'front desk' to greet us was soon replaced by a pioneering global spirit and Krupa who answered our phone call immediately. Being close to a shopping area where we were able to buy a SIM card from Vodaphone and groceries from Waitrose and quick access to a tube station (with or without luggage) was wonderful.

Thank you to our check-in manager, Krupa, who helped us when we had questions.

However, I must add, Sachin, you need to redesign that bathrroom. My husband and I were thinking that if you have to give up something, it's the bath tub. Unless you can reduce the size of the pantry and switch the toilet with the sink. It's a toss-up. But we'll come back if we can.

Very nice apartment in a great location

We had a very nice stay in Sachin's apartment. We had more than enough room for my husband, two young boys and myself. It was just a few minutes walk from the Russel square station and close to numerous restaurants, grocery stores and retail shops.
