About Ed Hawes
Ed is a Mount Desert Island native who grew up exploring, hiking, climbing and paddling all of the amazing areas the island has to offer. After traveling he has returned to Bar Harbor to make it his home as it is truly a one-of-a-kind gem. He met his partner Sherri who moved here and established herself as an independent local business owner and shared the same love for the mountains and coastal life. Together we work hard, travel as much as possible, and enjoy sharing our passion for the outdoors, arts, culture, and adventure with others. The Rockcairn is our way to invite folks to stay on the island so that they may experience a similar connection and create lasting memories. We know you'll be hooked on this beautiful and unique corner of the planet!

We only stayed 3 nights, but now we wish we stayed more.Even our dog Zoey felt at home.
The house was perfect and in a perfect location for exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor.
We went on a few hikes. If you will be hiking, my only advice is start early in morning like we did. Parking at hike sites can get crowded
The house had everything you need.
Communication with owners was easy.
Rockcairn was a perfect place for family vacation.
The house was a nice and clean. Sherri was very kind and provide everything that we needed. Just a few minutes to get downtown Bar harbor. We want to stay there again.
Vacation with family
We had seven ranging from 15 to 76 and had plenty of room. Comfortable bedrooms and two full baths as well as a large dining table that seats eight gave us a good base for exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia. The whole town is within walking distance. The house was clean. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare meals. The washer and dryer would allow packing light. The owners were good wth communications and advice. We would recommend to family and friends.
Bar Harbor Home
The Rockcairn was perfect for our visit to Bar Harbor. We came for our daughter's graduation from Collage of the Atlantic, so we needed a house close to COA. The home was big enough for my husband and I, our 10 & 16 year old sons, our 20 year old daughter and my parents. We used the kitchen to make a birthday dinner for my 16 year old and the dining room table accommodated all of us and my graduating 22 year old, (8 people). I truly appreciate that your home was all ready for us, it was clean, there were towels, soap, shampoo, dish soap, all kitchen items needed, etc. All of these things being there meant that we were able to focus on our daughter's graduation and son's 16th birthday. Thank you so much!
Great location and communication!!
The owners couldn’t have been better!!
Great House and Great Location
We had a wonderful time at Rockcaine. House was perfect for the six of us and one small dog. Great park near the house for dog walking. Short walk to restaurants and bars. House had all of the amenities we needed. We liked staying right in Bar Harbor so we could leave our car and just walk to things in town. Close to Acadia for hiking as well. Would love to come back.
