2.5 acres on Big Lake Chippewa with 2 cabins and camper on site
About Scott Grothe
We live and work in Alexandria and enjoy using this property as our getaway. We are a tight knit family with 3 daughters who love coming to the cabin as much as we do! Our passion is our work - as we have been in the cleaning business for 30 years now.
Scott Grothe purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Scott Grothe chose Brandon
Buying a cabin near Alexandria has always been a dream of ours, but finding one where we could have our privacy was difficult. When we first looked at this place, we instantly fell in love. We feel as if the privacy brings our family closer because we aren't surrounded by so many distractions! It was unique and beautiful and we knew it had to be ours.
What makes this Cabin unique
Privacy, privacy, privacy - we just can't say it enough! With there being two cabins and a camper on site, you almost get a "resort feel". So if you come with separate families or a group of friends, you can have your privacy there as well.

Labor Day Stay
What a beautiful weekend to close out our summer. The cabin had plenty of room, boat/lake access, kayaks, bonfire and a welcoming homey atmosphere! Thank you Scott and Sandy for your hospitality!
It was exactly what we expected. We loved being on the lake, ideal lake access, very accommodating as our plans changed last minute and allowed us to rent the pontoon for the day. The 2 cabins and the RV were perfect for our family. The grand-kids loved boating, swimming & fishing. Everything we needed was furnished and are pet friendly. We are planning on coming back again next summer.
Fun in the Sun
What a great vacation. We stayed for a week and had only one afternoon spoiled by rain - the rest of the week was perfect! Very private, very quiet, a great way to unplug. Grandkids had a nice little beach, adults had access to a very comfortable pontoon, and the evening fires capped off every day. Facilities were fine - a bit of upgrade wouldn't hurt but we really enjoyed the layout. Easy to find some quiet time as well as getting together for supper on the deck overlooking the lake. Fishing was pretty good - big sunfish and big crappies were plentiful and the fish fry was "to die for". Downtown Brandon was minutes away and everyone in town made sure we felt welcome. Will definitely return after arranging calendars but the consensus is a return visit is in the cards.
Hidden Gem - Great Location & Better Than Advertised!
The pictures of this property do not do justice. Great private location off the beaten path, GORGEOUS lake views with even better sunsets. Sandy was very helpful and responsive even with the 4th of July holiday. Check in was a breeze with a door code, they have a TON of fridge and freezer space and we only had to go into town once to restock ice and booze. Brandon is about 10 mins away and we stopped in the local bar/liquor store and played some pull tabs! There is a bait shop and grocery store there also that we took advantage of. I alone caught 25 pan fish off the dock with wax worms- SO FUN! We had dogs and babies/kids and it was a good amount of space. Smaller cabin is a little hike up the road but nice and private, has a kitchen and bathroom which is nice. There were extra floaties and games on site to use as well. The camper was spacious and so fun for the kids! We took the pontoon out a couple times- easy directions on how to use and full of life jackets so you don't need to bring any. We had a fantastic time and would highly reccommend!
Great family fun!
We enjoyed our long weekend stay at the property in late June. Great location on a beautiful clear lake with lots of space for the kids and teens to play outside. We rented the pontoon and had a blast on the water, and the kids enjoyed the floating pad and ‘big bertha’ inner tube. The sunsets on the lake were spectacular too! The adults really appreciated the full kitchen, utensils, plates, cookware, and several fridges and freezers for ‘real’ meals. The house, cabin, and RV are ‘no frills’, but clean, well equipped, and homey, making it feel like you are staying at a friend’s lake house. Air conditioners and fans kept things comfortable when it got hot during the day, and it was a plus to have indoor and outdoor areas to gather in when the mosquitos surged at sundown. Brand new washer and dryer, outdoor grill, and linens and blankets were available. Bring bug spray and extra towels if you are a large group.
A little slice of paradise
This is why I love Minnesota. A beautiful lake, a fire pit and good friends. We had a college reunion with 13 friends over a weekend at this cabin. We spent most of our time hanging around the fire on the lakeshore, BBQing and cruising on the Pontoon. The lake at sunset was really something special. Scott and Sandy were awesome hosts, taking the time to answer all our questions and responding to our texts when we had any questions during our stay. They have a main cabin, small cabin and camper.. They were clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a getaway. We spent a ton of time swimming in the lake and just enjoying their property.
I am glad you loved your stay and hope you will return again. Our goal is that you have as much enjoyment at our get away as our family does. We want you to experience privacy which is hard to find. Thanks for taking good Care off everything and always keeping in touch!!! Sandy
