My husband and I own Oak Grove Cottage #2. My parents lived
on Cape Cod in Eastham, Mass and operated a small bed and breakfast. My husband and I grew to love the area. We love riding bikes and hiking trails and well as visiting the ocean beaches and fresh water ponds. We learned the hospitality business from my parents.
I grew up in Massachusetts and attended University of Mass/ Amherst. My husband grew up in Kansas and is a graduate of the US Naval Academy. He served on submarines during the Cold War. We now live in Baltimore, Maryland. Husband is a Mechanical engineer and I work as a fire protection technician.
We have renters that come back every summer for vacation. One group has been renting Oak Grove Unit #2 for 10+ years.
My husband thinks home repair is fun! Refinishing floors and replacing bathroom fixtures gives him great satisfaction. He is constantly updating some aspect of the cottage.
Darren purchased this house in 2011
This cottage is in a private and secluded community surrounded by Oak trees. One entrance road serves 6 cottages. There is no traffic.
The cottage is spacious. It is much larger than it looks from the outside. A perfect space for multi-generations of families to enjoy.
We love to rent to families that include grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts and children.
Our competent property manager is native to Cape Cod. He is very attentive and fixes problems quickly. And he is not grumpy... well maybe a little grumpy if you call him at 3am.
Although it is secluded and private, there are restaurants, bike rentals, bike trail, bay-side beaches, ice cream and donut shops and small grocery stores within walking distance. This is a great benefit if you do not wish to drive in the summer traffic.
We needed a long weekend getaway for our family reunion. What a great cozy cottage it is! Plenty of space for everybody, all the attractions nearby, beautiful beach a couple minutes away. Everything we needed was here – from kitchen utensils to beach chairs. We had a great time; would definitely come back here again!!!
From a happy family.
I run a group home in Franklin ma, and for the past two years my clients have been to this cottage for their summer getaway by request. All I can say is Darren is truly a good person and he goes above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. Whenever I needed to get a hold of him, he got right back to us. As for the house, very cute and humble. The perfect place for a short to long get away. My clients had a great time! Thank you very much for all your help Darren. You Guys rock!
This was our 5th year for the family to get together and spend a week enjoying all the joys of Cape Cod. Plenty of beaches, mini golf, shopping, ice cream, etc. Great for the whole family of all ages! Another great year. Thanks!
So close to everything yet tucked in the beautiful oaks. Clean and cozy. Private cottage with all the necessities.
This quiet cottage was well stocked and provided the perfect getaway. It was located in a great location to enjoy the beaches and the Cape Cod National Seashore. Our children were comfortable in the cottage. We plan to come back again next year. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
We have been renting this cottage for over 10 years and keep returning because it suits our needs, is well cared for and very comfortable, and is conveniently located to what we like to do when vacationing on Cape Cod. The listing description is accurate and customer service is excellent.
The beaches are the main attraction and the choices are many - the National Seashore Beaches, Marconi is our favorite, the Bay beaches, especially for watching sunsets, and Great Pond which is freshwater. All are only minutes away.
Places we like to eat at include Ben & Jerry’s, The Box Lunch, The Fairway, which are within walking distance, as is a Deli. There are many more restaurants nearby to choose from.
Bike Rentals are also near at hand as is access to the Bike Trail. The National Seashore Visitors’ Center is a great place spend time. We make trips into Wellfleet, Orleans, and Brewster.
We would definitely recommend this cottage!
