This is a lovely old New England farmhouse nestled on a hill overlooking the village of South Waterford. The property includes five private acres of lawns, gardens and woods, bordered by the village brook. A spring-fed stream runs through the grounds.
The house has lots of light, hardwood floors and high ceilings. There are three bedrooms: one full, one queen, and one with two twin beds. The home also has four walk-in closets and two bright , newly renovated bathrooms
There is a large country eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, sunny living room with wood stove, and study with futon for extra guests. A huge screened-in porch stretches the length of the house in front, overlooking the village church. There is a laundry room and connected workshop, and also a barn for storing seasonal items, such as canoes.
A very charming and relaxing environment. You can tell the owners go the extra length to make your stay as easy and relaxed as possible. We want to come back!
What a lovely farmhouse experience! ~ My family and I enjoyed a long weekend in this 19th century home, bringing back many wonderful memories of staying with my grandparents when I was younger. Each room was beautifully-decorated with lots of historic artifacts, giving us much to talk about. The front porch was our favorite, providing a perfect place for morning coffee and an evening glass of wine. And Kerstin was a charming and very gracious host - one of the best VRBO hosts we've had in our 10 years of using this booking service!
As a yearly visitor of the house on Mill Hill we consider it home away from home. If you really want the Maine
experience and want to know what it was like living in a small village of Waterford, ME back in the day, rent this home! Kerstin
has immersed it in many knick knacks that take you back to your grandmother's house. Everything except the
smell of fresh baked cookies...that you have to provide yourselves. It's not fancy but definitely comfortable.
We'll be back next year!
A beautiful & unique home in the woods. Really well stocked and v comfortable. A 5-star experience! Thanks Kerstin!
The property was comfortable, convenient to lakes and ponds and the landlord was easy to work with
This was a great location for us to spend some time with family and enjoy the Fryeburg Fair. Sleeping space was perfect for our group of 8 and linens were clean and plentiful. The amenities, condiments, kitchen supplies made it so easy for meals and family time. Thank you, Kerstin, for being so accessible and pleasant to work with.
In the heart of Maine's famous Lakes Region, the area is a paradise for boating, fishing and swimming. The town beach on sparkling Keoka Lake is less than five minutes away. In addition there are mountains to climb and beautiful trails for hiking. Hearty home-style cooking, fine dining, antique shops, and North Conway's famous outlet shopping are all within a short drive.
