Calm/cosy flat, in PIgalle-Monmartre, 2-6 people
The flat is located on a private lane that gives onto the Rue de Martyrs (see map) and onto one of Paris' most chic neighbourhoods. That makes it very easy to reach any part of Paris from the house with the Métro (subway) system: the Pigalle and Le Peletier stations are close by, giving access to 4 Métro lines. The Gare du Nord is a 15-minute walk away, with its high-velocity trains and airport train. The lane is only open to residents and is watched by a security guard, which makes it a very calm and pleasant area.
Some of the best restaurants, cafés, fashion boutiques, and services are just a short walk away on the Rue des Martyrs, Avenue Trudaine, or Rue des Abbesses.
The neighbourhood is also pleasant for couples or friends, as well as for families, thanks to its parks, promenades, toy stores, and activities.
The Rue des Martyrs is located in the 9th arrondissement and is quite lively and active, with its famous food shops and other boutiques. It's a very fashionable neighbourhood in the centre of Paris at the base of the Montmartre Hill. South Pigalle boasts a diverse array of cafés, trendy restaurants, cinemas and theatres, and near the Galeries Lafayette and the Galeries du Printemps. See the New York Time's article about the Rue des Martyrs: "On a Historic Street, One That Got Away".
The 100-sq.m flat was recently renovated and is very comfortable and practical.
It is located on the 2nd floor, without elevator access though with an old staircase with easy steps.
The front part is perfect for 1 or 2 couples, with a large bedroom (Bedroom 1, with a king-size bed) and a living/dining room with a comfortable wardrobe/bed (Bedroom 2, with a king-size bed). A bathroom with a large shower and a new and well equipped kitchen is located on the other side of the entrance.
A separate bedroom (Bedroom 3) is located on the landing, and contains a shower room, and can be rented for a third couple for an additional €60 per day.
Access to the upper floor is reserved for travellers. You can rent groups of 2 or 4 (or 6 with the bedroom on the landing) depending on your preference. The rental is designed for a group of travellers, whether a family, group of friends, or a couple. Wi-Fi, TV and internet connections are available. In order to guarantee a peaceful experience, receptions are not allowed, and the rooms are non-smoking. Children are welcome.
Exchanges with travellers
When we welcome travellers, we include all the practical details about the lodgings and the neighbourhood in order to ensure a pleasant stay. We'll help you during your stay and give you all the information you may need, whether about the flat or Paris, from questions and advice to our insider tips. I live on the first floor, and am at your service for any questions you may have.
The flat offers easy access to buses, the subway, and taxis.
From the airport, come to the Rue des Martyrs, then follow the instructions given during the booking process. If you're taking the RER train from the airport (Roissy-Charles de Gaulle or Orly), the Gare du Nord station is quite close, about 800 m from the flat. The most practical Métro station is Pigalle, which is about 400 m away. Parking is available nearby, but vehicles are not recommended in Paris.
Rentals are for a minimum of 3 nights. We rent the main part of the flat for 1 or 2 couples for €200/day and the third bedroom on the landing as an optional addition for €30 per additional traveller, or €60 for an additional couple.

Great Way To Experience Paris
Raphael's flat provided our family of five the home base we needed for our first visit to Paris! Our kids are high school and college-aged. There are four beds available and the flat is large enough for everyone to have some quiet time after a day of museums and cathedrals.
Raphael is a terrific host and has thought of everything! He met us when we arrived and gave us a walking tour of the neighborhood. We had an authentic Paris experience staying in this neighborhood. Twice we walked to Montmartre from the flat. The Metro and buses are easy to use and reasonably priced. Both have stops an easy walk from the flat.
There are no down-sides about this host, his flat, or the neighborhood!
Thanks a lot for your kind comment.
You are welcome back whenever you'd like - you and your family were great guests.
The flat was in a perfect state after your stay, thanks!
As Described and Reviewed
Very lovely apartment with all modern conveniences. Raphael is a very gracious host and goes over how everything works and takes you on a tour of the neighbor, including the closest grocery store and metro station. The rooms are spacious, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was modern, well supplied and easy to work in. We had a very enjoyable stay in Paris and after a long day of touring through Paris we all looked forward to relaxing each evening in the apartment. We were four adults and everyone was comfortable in the apartment. A great find!!! Thanks Raphael for your help throughout our stay and for helping us secure a taxi for the ride to the airport. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this apartment to friends.
Very happy that you enjoyed your stay here and make sure we do our best for our travelers like friends ! Welcome back as soon as you want !!!
Beautiful apartment - perfect location
This is a beautiful airy and light apartment, fully equipped with everything you could need. Even looking at the art work on the walls was a delight. We were three adults and four children exploring Paris and the location could not have been better (within walking distance of Sacre-Coeur and Montmartre). Raphael gave us a full guided tour not only of the apartment but the surrounding area on arrival and had provided a range of food supplies too. He is exceptionally kind and generous. Just a wonderful stay!
Fabulous place in a fabulous part of Paris
A lovely flat on a small, gated street directly off the Rue des Martyrs in the 9th Arrondissement. Excellent access to the Metro and bus systems. Lots of restaurants, food stores and other fun places in the neighborhood. The flat is provided with a cleaning service. However, the promised clothes washer cannot be used except by the cleaning person. The TV works with intermittent failures but the internet was excellent. Our host provided all sorts of food goodies on our arrival - it was a delight! The kitchen is very modern and lovely. Learning how all the appliances work takes time, patience and attention to a number of details. There is heat but no air conditioning, other that a couple of fans. It takes four keys to go from the street into the apartment -- each of them different and a bit complicated -- adds to the charm. The apartment is full of original art work from the beginning of the 20th century which is wonderful to contemplate. The landlord was attentive and very helpful.
When we return we will return to Raphâel's lovely home
We were so excited to stay in this sweet location. The home was perfect. Everything was as we needed and more. Location perfect, beds perfect, kitchen perfect, living area perfect but best of all the host.... Raphâel was the finest host. We will return.
Stop looking, start booking.
This apartment. You found it. Book it.
Location, location, location. The most important factor when visiting Paris. The very busy and exciting Rue des Martyrs with all it's amenities right out the front door. And yet, the apartment is located on a gated cul de sac, which provides you not only with an extra level of security, but also makes this place ultra quiet. Metro station a pleasant walk up to Pigalle. Less than five minutes.
We walked as far as the Eiffel tower, via Faubourg St. Denis, to Pompidou, City hall and then along the Quai. Sights galore along the way.
Space. Have you stayed in a Paris hotel before? Exactly. What a pain.
This apartment is so spacious, four (big) adults never bumped into each other for lack of space. We enjoyed breakfast in the well equipped kitchen and many bottles of wine in the evening.
Comfort. Perfect beds, large bathroom, CNN, you have it all here.
Cleanliness. Spotless. What a treat.
The proprietor. M. Raphael is not only a generous host (our fridge was stocked with all sorts of goodies upon arrival), his knowledge of surrounding areas and beyond is invaluable. Just ask him for what you are curious or interested about, he will point you in the right direction.
Bonus. The art on display. You will love it.
The flat is located on a private lane that gives onto the Rue de Martyrs (9th Arrondissement) and onto one of Paris' most chic neighbourhoods, South Pigaille, right by Montmartre, right in the centre of Paris. This means that you can reach any part of Paris very quickly using the Métro (subway). Most parts of the city are less than 15 minutes away, and can be reached by lines 12, 7, and 2. However, the lane is only open to residents and is watched by a security guard, which makes it a very calm and pleasant area. Some of the best restaurants, cafés, fashion boutiques, and services are just a short walk away on the Rue des Martyrs, Avenue Trudaine, or Rue des Abbesses. The neighbourhood is also pleasant for couples or friends, as well as for families, thanks to its parks, toy stores, and activities.
