|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Walk 4 miles of empty beach in either direction or bike down a wooded road laced with million dollar homes. Our property is located in the most rural and secluded section of the most desirable Midwestern destination. Bikes and beach toys are provided with this totally equipped home which was built for large group rentals.
Children love to dig a waterhole in the beach, play with the odd homemade wooden toys or watch movies until they fall asleep in their rooms. Adults enjoy sharing breakfast for two on the roof porch or beach swing. The night sky is lit with stars while your family roasts marshmallows over a beach fire.
The beach house sits on top of a dune surrounded with pine trees. Large windows make viewing the lake a treat from each common area. Seamlessly, the stone design blends into the landscape making your transformation from the elegant inside into the dune environment an unforgettable experience. 4 kings, 3 queens, l small daybed, 2 full futons, cots and inflatables
Ray and I are retire teachers and have owned the property since the summer of 92. There are two previous owners. The first built a 3 bedroom 1 bath in the early 60s; the second added a den and bedroom and bath as well as a deck and screened in sun room in the 80s We started renting in 93 and did an addition to the property in 2003 adding a glassed in sunroom and a 1/2 bath downstairs and an upper story with full bath, large bedroom with 2 beds and mini kitchen: fridge, sink and microwave.
Mary and Ray Spangler purchased this house in 1992
I walked down the main hallway and saw the beach and fell in love.
The house has 120 ft of sand beach is quiet and only 6 miles from Sturgeon Bay with its shopping and fine restaurants. Pottowatomee and White Fish Dunes State Parks are nearby and very worth a visit as well as are the other towns and parks on the peninsula about 20 minutes North.
This property was absolutely fantastic. Sleeping accommodations were perfect. We even pulled the bicycles out of the shed for an added bonus. Beautiful deck out front to enjoy a cup of coffee and enjoy the sound of the waves hitting the beach. We're looking forward to making this an annual trip.
Great location and beautiful sand beach. Ample space and bedrooms. If the furnishings and amenities were updated, this would be an awesome vacation location. As is, the mattresses and bedding need updating as well as kitchen utensils. Hard to cook for a large group with minimal pans and pots. No screens were in windows upon arrival, we had to locate and install. Lots of knick knacks and extra furniture around which made space cluttered and cramped.
The home and property is everything described and more. It sits on a high dune overlooking beautiful Lilly Bay. Although the Lake Michigan level was higher than normal this year, there was ample sand beach sprinkled with stones for skipping and collecting. The beach is very walkable for miles in either direction.
The home is large with a deck spanning the entire front facing the shore. The home is well-equipped, clean and maintained. There was a huge supply of DVDs for all ages that were helpful with the kids at certain times, such as meal preparation. There were beach toys and bikes for riding along scenic Glidden Drive. The view for the loft upstairs and the small private deck was equally breathtaking.
The house is about 5-10 minutes from Sturgeon Bay, grocery stores and all other conveniences. There are also ample recreational and tourist sites for all ages in Door County if there is a day when the weather on the beach is not the greatest. We went to 'The Farm" about 10 minutes away, which was a spacious, well- maintained petting zoo, perfect for kids of all ages and for their parents to let the kids roam within view. One day, when the waves were high, we drove up to Cave Point County Park, about 15-20 minutes up the coast to watch the huge waves crash against the rocky cliffs. It was awesome!
We have already reserved a week for 2016. It was a unanimous vote by our children. I would highly recommend this location to family and friends. We have also been very pleased with the communication and service provided by the owners. We arrived at the 2:00 PM check-in time and the owner gave a tour of the whole property before we started unloading.
This property is really good, we enjoyed lot. It has very cool beach and lots of rooms to enjoy. If I get chance I will definitely stop by this home. I will recommend to my friends.
This was the second year that our group of neighbors (12) stayed at Mary's Beach House and it is a perfect accommodation for us. Each of the four downstairs bedrooms are good sized and have king beds & closet space. One couple stayed in the "den" pull out...but the room, although a little smaller, allowed same privacy as the bedrooms. The 2 1/2 baths on the first floor were quite adequate to allow the group their space with out waiting,
The upstairs suite is beautiful with wonderful views of forest and lake. The bed there is a twin. The walk-in shower there is GREAT!!
We all enjoyed the 5 mile winding drive up Glidden road to Donny' Glidden Lodge...a great supper club. Just be sure you leave the hall and outside lights ON when you head out as the area is pretty dark when you are driving home after dinner,
The walks down the beach and on Glidden Drive are all you need before relaxing in front of the fire at Mary's Beach House. The house is decorated to feel like a home, not a hotel and with the DVD collection it's easy to catch up on movies you may have missed! There is enough to do locally and access to the rest of Door County is an easy and beautiful drive. We have stayed here 6 times beginning in 1995 and also stay in the other property in Bailey's Harbor - The Cedar Beach Inn.
Turn right off of Highway 57 onto County T. Drive 6 miles until T becomes Glidden. Count seven driveways on the lake side until 3746. We are open all year round.
Other Activities: touring lighthouses, maritime museums, boat tours, boat rentals, large lake boats viewing, parks overlooking limestone cliffs
Golf: Door County has numerous golf courses.
Ski: There are great manicured cross country ski trails in Door County and candle light skis at the area's state parks: Peninsula, White Fish Dunes, Newport, and Potowotomie.
From September through June 13 Monday- Thursday are 1/2 price. We also have a 2 night minimum September through June 12 and a week minimum from the middle of June until the third week of August.
