I tried to submit a review tonight and the website wouldn't accept it,
saying it encountered an error, so here is my review (see below):
An enjoyable stay for all three generations of us!
Grams, Gramps, son, daughter-in-law, all three grandkids and two dogs - we
all had a really great time at Maureen's cabin in the north woods. It felt
like magic when a deer greeted us in the driveway upon our arrival. The
cabin was lovely - spacious, cheery, clean, beds comfortable, loved the
high ceiling in the great room, plenty of lighting, kitchen well equipped,
and we all made good use of the covered front porch where Grams was twice
buzzed by curious hummingbirds while relaxing in one of the rocking chairs
there. Grownups, kids, and dogs all found plenty to do down by the river,
wading and swimming, catching crawdads and fish, paddling the kayaks and
rubber raft, panning for gold (our grandson found a tiny grain of gold in
the black sand of the river!), and chilling out on the covered swinging
bench (hummingbirds there, too!). Found a Pictionary game among the games
provided and had a blast playing it in the evening, laughing our heads off!
We even watched a Tigers game on TV one day - and they won! Hartwick Pines
State Park nearby was a nice surprise - be sure to check out the logging
camp museum. The bakery in Grayling is something special and the staff at
the nearby gift shop so friendly, helping us find the site of Pere Cheney,
a local ghost town. And Maureen is the perfect balance of gracious and
professional - thank you Maureen!
This is a beautiful, well stocked, and comfortable cabin tucked away on a quiet, private road. The cabin is clean and the property is well-kept. We appreciated the spacious porch, the many swings around the property, and the deck with steps into the river. This cabin would be great as a get-away spot or a base for hunting/fishing. The owners were courteous, friendly, and responded quickly to inquiries. Thank you for sharing your property!
The home was tucked away in the woods and just gorgeous! Felt right at home the minute we arrived. Very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the birds and the river. Mackinaw is not a far drive for fudge and shopping. The small town of Grayling has everything for grocery needs and a good restaurant in downtown. Canoe trip on the river was relaxing and fun. Higgins lake is breathtaking and very close by. Hardwick pines state Park is just a short drive onorth m93 and great for hiking. Our trip went by too fast we really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to coming back possibly in the winter for snowmobiling. Thanks Maureen for a beautiful place!
The cabin was everything it was advertised to be. My wife and I enjoyed every moment there and will definitely be back.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful log home. It was peaceful and acommodating. A small path to the Au Sable was very intimate and beautiful. I will look forward to hopefully going back next year.
This was our first experience renting a vacation rental and I was extremely pleased with everything....from the booking experience, to the owners friendliness in answering so many of my questions, to the actual vacation itself.
We found the property to be just as described to us. I wanted something private and on water and I received that. The cabin was beautiful inside and out. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the natural surroundings and one could easily walk on the road for miles and enjoy the scenery. The kitchen was important to me. Due to my husband medical nutritional needs, I spend a lot of time preparing food. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything I needed. The time that we were there had some pretty warm days. Since there is no A/C, the windows and doors were open almost all the time and this would normally not be a problem. Again, with my husbands medical condition, he rests/sleeps frequently throughout the day. With an Army Air training facility nearby, we found the frequent jet flyovers in the afternoon, and helicopter flyovers in the evening to be slightly unwelcome but not too disturbing. The river was clean and very enjoyable to float in. I would recommend this property for anyone needing a relaxing getaway. Once we arrived, we never left the property except for some walking right around the area. There are plenty of things to keep you entertained right there, but Grayling is a short drive into town and appeared to be a town full of activity. Thanks again to Maureen for sharing such a lovely property with us.
I can not say enough positive things about this cabin and the owner, Maureen. Everything is as described and better! Maureen, was readily available for questions, and went over and above for our family. If you are looking for a very peaceful, relaxing vacation, this is the place. We saw deer, black squirrels, blue jays, more deer, rabbits, and MORE deer!! This place is a little piece of heaven on earth! We will be back next year! Thank you, Maureen.
