Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Maureen

I tried to submit a review tonight and the website wouldn't accept it,

saying it encountered an error, so here is my review (see below):

An enjoyable stay for all three generations of us!

Grams, Gramps, son, daughter-in-law, all three grandkids and two dogs - we

all had a really great time at Maureen's cabin in the north woods. It felt

like magic when a deer greeted us in the driveway upon our arrival. The

cabin was lovely - spacious, cheery, clean, beds comfortable, loved the

high ceiling in the great room, plenty of lighting, kitchen well equipped,

and we all made good use of the covered front porch where Grams was twice

buzzed by curious hummingbirds while relaxing in one of the rocking chairs

there. Grownups, kids, and dogs all found plenty to do down by the river,

wading and swimming, catching crawdads and fish, paddling the kayaks and

rubber raft, panning for gold (our grandson found a tiny grain of gold in

the black sand of the river!), and chilling out on the covered swinging

bench (hummingbirds there, too!). Found a Pictionary game among the games

provided and had a blast playing it in the evening, laughing our heads off!

We even watched a Tigers game on TV one day - and they won! Hartwick Pines

State Park nearby was a nice surprise - be sure to check out the logging

camp museum. The bakery in Grayling is something special and the staff at

the nearby gift shop so friendly, helping us find the site of Pere Cheney,

a local ghost town. And Maureen is the perfect balance of gracious and

professional - thank you Maureen!

Thanks again!

Cordially,

Gregg

If relaxing is your goal, this is the place.

This property is wonderful. Quiet and peaceful, well appointed, close access to the east branch of the Au Sable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck and enjoying silence. Everything was neat and clean, with plenty of plates, glasses, etc. Beds were comfortable, nice breeze through the many screened windows and door walls. Great experience over all.

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting and watching the antics of the birds and squirrels outside the sliding glass doors. We even had a turkey feeding underneath the bird feeders as well as walking through the woods. We also saw deer passing through . It was very relaxing to sit on the porch and listen to the sounds of nature. We would definitely stay there again.

Great vacation in perfect place!!!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed three weeks with picture perfect weather and had a peaceful, fun and happy family vacation. Lovely decorated, clean and very well equipped cabin. Loved playing horseshoe, having bonfires and BBQ's. Surroundings are great for hiking, biking, kayaking/canoeing, swimming ( my favorite place was the deck by the river). Great setting for daytrips to Mackinac Island, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Higgins Lake, etc. too!

Thank you so much, Maureen for a home away from home ( Bonn, Germany). This is how "up North" should be 😊

PRIVATE AND PEACEFUL FAMILY GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation at this comfortable cabin. It is very clean, well-stocked, and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The front porch is amazing. We took a canoe trip out of Grayling and did some hiking at Hartwick Pines, but mostly enjoyed the cabin and the river. We brought some river rafts, tied them together and anchored them in the middle of the river so we could float and splash around in our own private little spot. Maureen was gracious and accommodating. Highly recommend.

You will not be disappointed! Home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this beautiful and peaceful cabin. We were just as impressed the second time around. Maureen, is an absolute pleasure to work with. The cabin is well stocked with anything you might need, from coffee and tea, to extra linens. The wildlife around the cabin is amazing! We found a small feed store in Grayling, and bought some corn for the critters. The deer will walk right up to the front porch if you are patient enough to wait for them. This cabin is very close to Grayling. You must eat at the Coca-Cola themed diner (can't remember the name) the ice cream here was amazing!! I can go on and on about this place. We stayed for 3 weeks with 6 kids. We had plenty of space. The river area is very peaceful and beautiful, and a very short walk from the cabin. We enjoyed a fire almost every night. I can not wait to go back. Michigan is a beautiful state.
