I tried to submit a review tonight and the website wouldn't accept it,
saying it encountered an error, so here is my review (see below):
An enjoyable stay for all three generations of us!
Grams, Gramps, son, daughter-in-law, all three grandkids and two dogs - we
all had a really great time at Maureen's cabin in the north woods. It felt
like magic when a deer greeted us in the driveway upon our arrival. The
cabin was lovely - spacious, cheery, clean, beds comfortable, loved the
high ceiling in the great room, plenty of lighting, kitchen well equipped,
and we all made good use of the covered front porch where Grams was twice
buzzed by curious hummingbirds while relaxing in one of the rocking chairs
there. Grownups, kids, and dogs all found plenty to do down by the river,
wading and swimming, catching crawdads and fish, paddling the kayaks and
rubber raft, panning for gold (our grandson found a tiny grain of gold in
the black sand of the river!), and chilling out on the covered swinging
bench (hummingbirds there, too!). Found a Pictionary game among the games
provided and had a blast playing it in the evening, laughing our heads off!
We even watched a Tigers game on TV one day - and they won! Hartwick Pines
State Park nearby was a nice surprise - be sure to check out the logging
camp museum. The bakery in Grayling is something special and the staff at
the nearby gift shop so friendly, helping us find the site of Pere Cheney,
a local ghost town. And Maureen is the perfect balance of gracious and
professional - thank you Maureen!
This is our 3rd year coming to the RiverFront Cabin. We love the cross country trail at Hartwick Pines which is so close and convenient. This year the temperatures were so cold that we spent more time just relaxing in this beautiful setting. We watched deer wander through the woods and walked around the beautiful wooded area and admired the beautiful homes. The Cabin has always been very clean, in great repair, kitchen is well stocked (we eat all our meals here), and so comfortable for 2 couples to just hang out and have a great time in the Northern woods. We highly recommend and hope to return next year. We do miss (sort of) not having wifi.
We spent four nights at Maureen's cabin over Christmas 2016 and it was magical. The cabin is well designed, well stocked, and very clean. We were a three-generation party of six and didn't feel crowded even though the cabin isn't huge. We enjoyed tubing at Hanson Hills and walking on the dirt roads around the cabin, and the kids enjoyed playing in the snow. Looking forward to coming back when the fish are awake!
This home is exactly what an up north getaway is all about. Tucked away nicely in the woods right on the Au Sable River. This is a fly fisherman's dream home. 10 minutes from Gates Lodge and about the same to Hartwick Pines. Cabin is spotless and clean throughout and stocked with enough amenities so you don't need to bring much. A nice wood burning stove helps with the cold nights as well. My wife and I will return.
This home was perfect in every way. Rooms were very well maintained and comfortable. Owners obviously take a lot of pride in their home. Comfortable mattresses and furniture, beautiful property, and even a river a few steps away. Our vacation was relaxing and wonderful thanks to our stay here!!
I have rented this cabin twice for fire arm deer season. Both times our group enjoyed our stay. We had plenty of room and everyone enjoyed themselves. Although you are not allowed to hunt on the property we did see deer every morning in the woods between the house and the river. We also saw wild turkey on our recent stay. State land is approximately 1/2 mile west of the cabin. Fun for hiking, snowmobiling, snow shoe's etc. The East Branch of the Ausable River runs directly behind the cabin. I would recommend this cabin for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and wants to get away in the Grayling area.
We had a wonderful stay at your river cabin. It was just what we needed. The place is beautiful and so very well kept. The property is equally terrific, with such a quiet wooded setting. Our two english setters loved the hikes and outside time on the porch. Thanks so much!
