About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 full baths, private pond, easy access to town.

This is a charming, fully equipped home, two queen bedrooms, two full baths, and a sleeping loft (no beds, ladder access). Sleeps two couples comfortably. (Can sleep up to six, guests must provide sleeping bags or air beds) Just bring your clothes, fishing rod and expectations, you won't be disappointed. Located within sight of the Gunnison National Forest and West Elk Wilderness. Close enough to town to be convenient but far enough out to give you the peace you deserve.

Summer gives you hiking, biking and wildflowers, fall for hunting and winter for skiing and Snowmobiling. Gunnison has it all, except for the crowds. This is what a mountain vacation is supposed to be about! We live on the same piece of property (in a separate house, of course) and are happy to be as much a part of your visit, or as little, as you want. If it's advice on what pass to ride on your motorcycle,or which fly to use, just ask. This is the vacation you will talk about!

Please note, we DO NOT allow smoking OF ANY KIND on the property, this includes marijuana, whether medicinal or recreational.

Just what we needed

  • 4 of 5

We booked the Duckpond Cottage for three nights on the weekend of graduation at Western Colorado State University. The location is both convenient and pleasant - only a couple miles from downtown and the university and (as described) on property with a duck pond and the owners' separate house. Lee was very responsive to our questions before booking and very accommodating of our late arrival. Although we didn't spend much time in the house (we were gone all day and into the evening) it would be a comfortable place to hang out either in the living room or on the deck. We hadn't planned to use the washer and dryer but arriving after a week of hiking elsewhere we appreciated the convenience. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils, coffee maker with filters, dishwasher and detergent, towels - but we didn't find any of the basics (salt, pepper, sugar) that are common in other properties we have rented. I am certain Lee would have provided these if we had asked! I can recommend this rental although readers should note that the property is for sale so ownership/host may change.

All You Need for a Quiet, Relaxing Escape

  • 5 of 5

The property title says it all - Charming Duckpond Cottage! This is a clean, well-equipped, cozy cottage with a great gas fireplace, comfortable furniture, and a comfortable bed (slept in master). The cottage is set back from the main house and private. Access is via an electric gate, for which you get your own remote. The ducks, geese, and Alpacas on the property were great entertainment and were quiet; no early morning wake up calls. Doug was a gracious host (Lee was out of town) and stopped by to make sure everything was in order and to give us suggestions for places to visit and restaurants. Garlic Mike's is just down the road towards town and lived up to its excellent on-line reviews. Wonderful food and great service. We would definitely stay here again when in Gunnison. Thanks Doug!

Our visit to the Charming Duckpond Cottage in Gunnison, CO.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week's stay in Gunnison. The cottage had all the amenities you could have asked for. By the time we got all of our personal items put away, we felt like we were home. The property was clean and very well maintained.

The owners, Doug and Lee were extremely helpful. If you needed information regarding the area, or if you just wanted to visit with them, they were there to help.

We plan on going back to the area again next year. Thanks to Doug and Lee for providing such a lovely home, so we could really have a fun and a relaxing vacation. - The Baker's

Wonderful month

  • 5 of 5

We are just finishing up our month in Gunnison. I cannot say enough nice things about our house and the owners, Doug and Lee. The house was very clean on arrival and everything we needed was furnished. We had a great time watching the ducks on the pond. The hiking and wildflowers here in July are fantastic. We enjoyed our time here so much that we have already reserved the house for next July.

My Dad and I planned a fishing trip to the Gunnison area and picked the perfect house and location. This house is right in the middle of three trout fishing rivers and surrounded by numerous streams and creeks. In addition, the house has all the amenities imaginable, and is very clean. We will hope to return.
