Laurent’s apartment is beautifully renovated, with a wonderful, airy orientation to the Sãone river.
We were a party of four adults, visiting Lyon with our adult son and daughter. We loved our stay in this very comfortable, well appointed apartment. Beds were very comfortable; the high quality espresso machine a favorite and Laurent’s kitchen in general very well-stocked. The location is perfect: close to the fabulous outdoor markets, steps to the busy old city but very quiet. Laurent is a very attentive and pleasant host and always available. Lyon is one of our favorite travel destinations and we hope to stay in Laurent’s apartment again.
The apartment was beautiful and clean. It was situated perfectly for our visit to Lyon.
Laurent was very helpful and kind, plus gave us many wonderful local recommendations.
Excellent apartment in a great location
Laurent's apartment was perfect for a week in Lyon. He was extremely helpful, both before and during our stay, providing restaurant recommendations and organising a taxi for us on our last morning. The apartment is extremely roomy with 3 living areas - and the view of the Saône stunning. Everything was clean, light and airy - we loved it. An excellent boulangerie just over the walking bridge, farmer's market most days a bit further down the river bank and walking distance to everywhere we wanted to explore in Lyon. Laurent's kitchen was also fantastic, with very good cookware, lots of supplies such as olive oil that we could use (much appreciated Laurent) a very nice coffee machine (or if you are out and about and an Australian in need of an excellent flat white try Puzzle - only a few mins from the riverside market - superb barista). We look forward to returning to Lyon - it was a truly beautiful city - and we are very happy to recommend this lovely apartment.
Well Appointed Apartment in Lyon
Good location for exploring Vieux Lyon. We were greeted by the owner who took the time, not only to explain specifics of the apartment, but made us dinner reservation for our first evening and oriented us to the area. The apartment was fully fitted out, and the kitchen was perfect. Anything you could imagine needing was there. Upstairs bed, bath, and sitting area were spacious and comfortable. Be aware that to reach the upstairs you must negotiate a steep spiral staircase.
Very stylish apartment
We stayed in Laurent's apartment for a week and loved all aspects of it. He is very welcoming and informative about his city. This apartment has high quality furnishings and appliances, set in a penthouse aspect over the river Saône. The apartment is on the edge of the old town and near all important sites. One of us contracted food poisoning near the end of our stay which meant we missed our flight back to the UK. Laurent was very supportive and extended our stay by another night - in order to be well enough to depart! So all in all (despite the intestinal setback) a great stay.
Great location, great owner, great city!
As a family of 4, we would definitely stay here again. The owner, Laurent, was extremely responsive to our needs, and super helpful for suggesting great things to do in Lyon. Part of the reason for wanting to stay again is the great owner. And the elevator!
The location is fantastically positioned along the Saône river. There is a beautiful small terrace that overlooks the river, and walking to everything in Vieux Lyon is easy. It was great for watching Bastille Day fireworks set off from the Basilica.
Inside the flat, there are two levels. The first floor is old world, and the second floor is new world. The first floor has that classic French herringbone wood floor, and the kitchen is nicely updated. The espresso machine is great and easy to use, and there is a dishwasher. The bedroom on the first floor is probably more for kids since it has two single beds (perfect for our two young children). The kitchen looks out to the train tracks and the big, historic, wall built of boulders. No identifiable issues with the train tracks. In fact, none of the windows in the flat give anyone the ability to look in at you, and they block out any noise well.
Upstairs is a remodeled loft accessed using a spiral metal staircase. We chose not to carry our 50 lbs (23kg) luggage up this staircase, as it would have been difficult, if not impossible. You could easily carry a small carry-on upstairs though.
There are four remote-controlled windows upstairs that function as vents. Since we stayed in July, there is amazing air off the river that moves through the flat when the downstairs windows and the upstairs windows are open. It was really enjoyable to lounge upstairs in the open sitting area on some leather couches. The upstairs is definitely more suited for adults. For you technophiles, it has a home theater set up with a projector and stereo.
Both full bathrooms were updated and good, no identifiable issues. The downstairs bathroom has a split toilet/shower (toilet in a closet), and upstairs is combined toilet/shower/laundry in one bathroom. Quick hot water was not a problem, and laundry was perfectly adequate.
Thank you, Laurent!
