Northwest Colorado House Rental Photos and Description

7 Bedrooms, 6 Bathrooms, 6000 square ft, great kitchen, private mountain views

Christmas just became available - give your family the best Christmas gift ever by staying at the Sunshine Ridge Guest House for Christmas. Relax & have fun this year, without all of the cleaning and rushing. Let us do the work and you can have all of the fun memories. We have had 11 years of experience of making our renters happy; every year is better and better. See our reviews and compare. Even the VRBO Bear came to stay and gave it a wonderful review. Please read our reviews & come and see for yourself. The house sleeps 18 in beds comfortably but see rates below. 4 King beds and 2 Queens (& a few others). Ask us about discounts for smaller groups of 10 people or less. Also note that the town of Glenwood Springs is getting more exciting every year; you just may see celebrities in town on their way to Aspen (most recently George Clooney) because it is so cool. Come & enjoy a relaxing time together, away from the hustle & bustle in an authentic mountain town. Glenwood is one of the last true mountain towns that still has the 'Old West' feel, but also has new delicious restaurants. Make Glenwood your home for a week or weekend & stay at a great mountain home with your family & friends. Very family friendly. The restaurants, shopping & conveniences of Glenwood Springs are just 5 miles away. If you are skiing, the house is on the same road to Sunlight Mt resort, just a few miles down the road. Our 40 acre property is part of a conservation easement protected by the Aspen Valley Land Trust. The house is within a 5 minute drive of Sunlight Mountain Ski Resort, White River National Forest, and unlimited recreational activities from white water rafting to mountain biking to world class fly fishing. Glenwood Hot Springs is only 10 min away as well as the Glenwood Caverns & Amusement Pk. Any time is our favorite times to enjoy Glenwood Springs because of the fabulous colors, great temperatures and... the hot springs & caverns/adventure park are open year round. Of course everyone loves summer because of the sunshine and so many outdoor activities. They also love winter because skiing at Sunlight Ski Mountain is a blast & family friendly. It is our family's favorite place to ski in Colorado. The Sunshine Ridge Guest House is great for an intimate wedding, birthday gift, book club retreat, yoga retreat, corporate retreat, mens golf outing, hiking group, hunting trip, bike tour and of course family gathering. Sit by the fire & play games with family or friends. Please note: We NEVER accept wired funds & NO cashier's checks, for your safety and ours. If anyone asks you to do so, it is a scam. We don't advertise on Craigslist. Never send wired funds.

********What can I do in Glenwood Springs?

Glenwood Springs was listed as one of the top seven ski towns in Rand McNally & USA Today's issue of 'Best of the Road'.

Also...

Read what Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park Blogger, Mandy Gauldin, Public Relations guru has to say...

'There’s a reason Glenwood Springs was named the Most Fun Town in America by Rand McNally and USA Today. It really is fun, and that makes it a great destination for spring breakers. Whether you live on the Front Range and need a staycation, or are coming from out-of-state for your Colorado ski trip, we hope you’ll consider Glenwood Springs.

(Any time of the year) here’s a look at what you can do in Glenwood Springs:

*In the off-season, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has smaller crowds than you’ll find here in the summer. Our Winter Fun Pass will still be available, and it’s an incredible deal. For just $31 per person, you get a round-trip ride on the Iron Mountain Tramway, or a bus in inclement weather, a 70-minute guided Cave Tour, and unlimited access to the Alpine Coaster, 4D Motion Theater and Laser Tag Arena. You can add lunch at the Lookout Grille.

*Ski or ride at one or more of the seven ski resorts located within an hour of Glenwood Springs, including Vail, Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Beaver Creek, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Sunlight Mountain Resort. That’s especially nice because the lodging in Glenwood Springs is significantly more affordable than in neighboring Aspen and Vail, and you are located right in the middle of these world-class resorts.

*Play and relax at the Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s largest hot springs pool, which is well known for its healing mineral waters. Weather permitting, the pool’s two water slides will be open the last two weeks of March, which adds even more fun to your swim. The pool is open until 10 p.m. every night, so you can spend the day with us, and then relax in the pool afterwards.

*You can also laugh the night away at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue, get pampered at one of several spas in town, take a snowmobile tour, go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, choose from an amazing variety of restaurants and go shopping. With more than 100 stores, Glenwood Springs is the largest retail shopping area between Denver and Grand Junction.'

Saving you money - cost comparison: The Sunshine Ridge Guest House Value Proposition

We’re committed to offering an exceptional vacation experience for our guests. This includes making sure you get your money’s worth! Here are some examples of what it costs to stay with us…….

•For a Party of 16, our nightly rates are anywhere from $44 -$63 per person, depending on the season.

As you consider accommodations for your group, please compare our rates to your other options. Our per person prices are comparable to most hotels in the area, and Sunshine Ridge offers a huge, gourmet kitchen and great common areas for your group to gather. When comparing costs, also consider the money you will save by cooking instead of eating out. We’ve gone out of our way to insure you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable vacation, at pricing that will make you wonder why you would ever go back to a hotel room.

Vintage ski lodge, eclectic staff make downvalley ski area a hit

The 12-mile drive up Four Mile Road from Glenwood Springs toward Sunlight Mountain Resort should be marked in years rather than distance, as the bucolic journey makes it feel as though you are traveling backward through time.

Decades seemingly melt away as the winding road whisks you away from any notion of corporate influence, and back to the heyday of small, family-oriented ski areas.

It’s a trip that visitors make each year, adding their own unique chapters to the mountain’s rich history.

About Shirl and Andy Niemeyer

Our family lives in Colorado on the Front Range and we love to travel. Our favorite place to revisit is Glenwood Springs, for skiing, spring flowers, summer fun, fall leaf peeping and celebrating birthday or holidays with friends. We come to the house with many types of friends, too...yoga groups, kayak teams, College retreat groups, team building meetings for business, chefs cook-offs, weddings, and just relaxing with friends and family. Everyone we bring loves the house and the town of Glenwood Springs. We always have so much fun with our group of friends that we wanted to share the experience and opportunity with you. That is why we started renting. Read our reviews and you can see why we have been in business for 9 years. It makes us happy to know our guests are sharing great memories together at the house.

Why Shirl and Andy Niemeyer chose Northwest Colorado

We have rented homes around the country with our family and friends for many, many years. We visited Glenwood Springs and fell in love with the town. As soon as we walked into the Sunshine Ridge Guest House, we knew that it was a perfect place to be a 'Second Home' for all and decided to purchase it for a Vacation Rental Home. It is so warm, welcoming and family friendly inside. The floor plan is perfect for a large group because there are wings where you can hide for privacy, but many options in and outside for large gatherings. The views are stunning and therapeutic. The house is located in a quiet valley, but close to town, skiing and outdoor activities. Of course, there are great options for wildlife viewing and hiking on the property, too.

What makes this house unique

We update the house monthly to make sure it is in top shape for you. You'll love the three outdoor patios/decks and three living rooms. Many places to gather, but lots of cool places to hide. Just take a step outside and soak up the therapeutic surroundings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sunshine Ridge Guest House was fantastic stay for our small group attending the X-games in Aspen. The house is large with a great kitchen seating area for up to 14-16 people even if we only had nine. All the beds were very comfortable and many bathrooms to go around. Nice touch to have towels available to take to Glenwood Hot Springs and we used them once. Downstairs is well equipped with a beautiful pool table that we used well and we did purchase 5 bottles of wine from the "Sunshine Wine Cellar". Well stocked at $10 a bottle. The view is gorgeous and is a great location all year long. It was about a 45 minute drive to watch the X-games in Aspen, but prices are much nicer near Glenwood. Nice 2 oven stove, Large 4 car garage and outside gas Bar-B-Q. Nice Fire Truck! We hope the X-games are back and we can come next year.

Expectations Far Exceeded

  • 5 of 5

I completely agree with the other reviews that I had read on the site prior to booking the guest house. Pictures are not able to do this property justice. The well cared for house and its surroundings are dramatic. The floor plan works extremely well for families and other groups. The location feels private and secluded but the town is still close enough that we could easily do the things we wanted (and get the things we needed) without a lot of driving. We loved that house isn't visible at all from the road yet still offers incredible views. One practical suggestion, if you are driving in from Denver and are Costco members, consider making a stop at the Gypsum warehouse on the way. We were able to get much of what we needed for our large group in one quick trip.

Glenwood Springs and the Roaring Fork Valley are hidden gems with all the natural beauty and year round recreation opportunities of other Colorado tourist areas but with far greater value. I highly recommend staying long enough to take in all that the guest house and surrounding attractions have to offer. I can't recommend enough the guest house, it's owners and their local hosts.

Owner's Response: We love your practical suggestion to stop at Costco in Gypsum on the way up from Denver. There are also 2 grocery stores in Glenwood Springs for last minute items, but Costso offers the best selection and price for large groups to cook meals at home in the great kitchen at the Sunshine Ridge Guest House.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Sunshine Ridge Guest House for my sister's bachelorette party and couldn't have had a better stay! The house was large enough for us all to spread out and have our own beds, plus feel like we all had a place to sit comfortably to eat, play games and hang out. The beds were very comfortable and warm, towels were fluffy, the house was clean and well stocked in terms of dishes, basic cooking utensils and spices and we couldn't think of anything we needed that we couldn't find. The patios and views were to die for! I wish we could have stayed longer!!

Though you felt secluded and away given the sweeping views, the town is a quick and easy drive. It took us about 8 minutes to get to a grocery store and maybe 15 minutes to get to the hot springs. I think we were perry close to the ski resort too, but we didn't get there this time. Overall, I'd love to live in that house!! It's the perfect getaway spot for a group of 7+. We will definitely look for this place next time we go to Glenwood!

Great house, great layout. Perfect for a large group.

  • 5 of 5

House was large and had a great layout for a large group. Common areas were comfortable and large. House is convenient to Aspen, Vail, and Glenwood Springs. Kitchen had plenty of cooking utensils, pot and pans, etc. House was very clean and well maintained. Shirl and Andy were very attentive before and during our stay. Highly recommend.
