A beautiful narrowboat which guests can drive themselves on the River Thames.
Gina is perfectly designed for our guests, with 2 private, double cabins, one of which can also be made up in to twin beds. Each cabin has a wardrobe and a private access to the toilet and shower room. There is a hair dryer in the twin cabin. Gina comes equipped with: a fuel burner which makes the boat cosy and warm all the year round and there is also full central heating with radiators throughout. The kitchen comes equipped with a fridge with a small freezer unit, 4 ring gas hob, oven and grill and a full range of utensils.
There is a spacious, light and airy feel to the saloon with double glazed front windows adjacent to the front fully glazed doors. There is a dinette which is ideal for entertaining and which can also be made up into an extra 2 berths, making this perfect accommodation for 6 people. In the saloon is a TV and DVD player and iPod dock for your entertainment. There are also 240v electric sockets throughout the boat.
Outside is a seating area where you can enjoy the views of the stunning river Thames country side while you cruise and unwind at your own pace. Don't worry about driving the boat, full tuition is provided before you start your holiday and we are always on standby to assist should you need us. Life jackets and all boating equipment are provided. We are also dog friendly.
For the more enthusiastic boaters, why not book a day's tuition on boat Gina and do the RYA inland waterways helmsman's course as a holiday extra? This is a one day hands-on course with minimal theory, and is not only an opportunity to learn new skills but also a fun day out and you get your ray qualification as well. (please note it is not a requirement for our boating holidays that guests do this course as our handover tuition at the start of the holiday is extremely thorough and covers all aspects of boat handling and water safety. We like our guests to be happy, stress free and safe on the water.)
This is a great holiday for all the family and children especially are encouraged to participate as crew members. There are numerous places to moor up along the Thames and local attractions within walking distance from mooring up the boat.
Tescos supermarket has its own mooring on the Thames, very close by to our boarding point. So following the initial boat tuition, you can moor up and buy your shopping provisions and take the shopping trolley up to the boat.
Wildlife birds and animals are abundant on the Thames and we recommend you bring your cameras and binoculars. Everyday is a different adventure and a different story to tell.

About Jane Asher
Welcome Aboard! Our names are Jane and Alan and we are qualified skippers and have been in the holiday rental business for over 10 years. We are also both qualified teachers and decided to swap the classroom for the idyllic waterways and completely change our life style! In 2012, we designed and commissioned the building of Boat Geanna, this boat we designed (originally on the back of a napkin!) exclusively for guests. Having rented out our villa in Turkey for 7 years, we knew what guests expected and appreciated when going on holiday and wanted to include this in a boating holiday on the Thames. Boat Geanna was therefore created with 3 en suite cabins and every creature comfort (and more) that guests could expect. No sooner was Geanna in the build stage when Channel 4 approached us and asked if we would like to participate in the next 'Four In A bed' series. This was a challenge as the filming for this would be the week immediately after the boat was to be launched. And as with nearly all builds, the boat was late and infact we had only 24 hours before our TV guests would check in. That was a weekend of no sleep but it paid off and Geanna's very first guests and maiden voyage can still be seen on 4OD. People still do recognise us in the supermarkets and as the proud winners of this competition, our certificate is on display on geanna's wall! We work hard to make sure that guests have the very best holiday we can provide and it's often the little attention to details and service that our guests remember and keep returning.

Why Jane Asher chose Henley-on-Thames
Boat Gina is the latest addition to the fleet and was designed to be an easy to drive, reliable self drive narrowboat but with all the luxury now expected in guest accommodation. We remember narrowboat holidays we had taken as children and how uncomfortable those boats were back then! We understand that when on holiday, guests want a bit of luxury and that is what we have striven to do. Boat Gina has proper beds in her cabins and has a modern, airy feel without detracting from the narrowboat character.
What makes this Boat unique
Narrowboat Gina is a real trooper. First time boaters can drive this boat easily and her spacious interior and clever design make this boat a great holiday boat. If you don't want to drive the boat, then you can stay moored up or if there is a large number in your party (up to max 17) you can book this boat and our other boat geanna and have them moored side by side, ideal for reunions and get-together. We are a family business and are always on hand to assist should you need us. We hope that our thorough handover mean that you don't need to contact us and that you end up enjoying boating and come back again!

For those of you who would really prefer not to drive the boat at all and simply use it as a holiday base or combine it with our boat Geanna to accommodate large groups up to 17 persons, then we will meet you at the boat in Henley.
Where you decide to cruise to is completely down to you. We will provide detailed maps on-board and will send you suggested cruising routes and time scales prior to your holiday to help you plan your itinerary. So where can you cruise to? Why not re-live the same boat journey on the River Thames as Jerome K Jerome in his book ‘3 men In A Boat’ and cruise to Pangbourne.
Pangbourne is also the home of Kenneth Grahame, author of The Wind in the Willows. You will also pass Mapledurham House, dating from 1588 and thought to be the model for Toad Hall and was also used in the filming of ‘Where eagles Dare.’ Alternatively, how about a leisurely boat cruise from Sonning to Henley-On-Thames? All amenities are within walking distance from the boat moorings on the river bank.
For those of you wanting to try something a bit different, why not book a day's rowing experience with an Olympic rower at the Henley Rowing Association? This is ideal for those with no rowing experience who have always wanted to have ago and meet an Olympian rower. Or why not take a short drive and visit the local winery or Highclere Castle (Down ton Abbey) or the Harry Potter Studios film set.
The beauty of a self drive narrow boat holiday is that you have the freedom to choose where you cruise to. For 4 day midweek cruises why not cruise downstream to Marlow? In a 7 night cruise holiday you can easily cruise to Royal Windsor and visit Windsor castle and Lego land. For longer breaks of 10 days, why not cruise and moor up outside Hampton Court Palace and join King Henry VIII for his wedding celebration at Hampton Court Palace (daily at 3.00pm).
