Long-term and Repeat Renters are Welcome: The Rendezvous Cottage is a beautiful and meticulously maintained summer home. It is the perfect home for families to rent for special occasions and annual vacations. There is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy, whether your needs are a quiet reading space, fun board games at the dining room table, cooking and baking in the kitchen or a movie in the evening in the comfort of the living room. We have toys, books, videos and games for children available.
We stayed at The Rendezvous Cottage with our two sons, age 4 and 7, and another family with two boys, age 2 and 7. The cottage could not have been more comfortable or family friendly. The owners, welcoming and accommodating, met us at check-in to show us the area. The private beach/cove is a short walk down a path and provided countless hours of fun for the boys from searching the tidal pools to swimming to the raft. If you're looking for sea glass there was plenty! A large field on another cove, just behind the house, provided plenty of running around space for the boys. The location of the cottage is perfect for the local sights. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants of the downtown area, along with the old time bowling alley and mini-golf, all a short car ride away. Local farmer's markers were plentiful. A 15 minute ferry ride brought us to the lighthouse on Burnt Island which serves as a "living museum". Three BEAUTIFUL beaches (Popham, Pemequid, Reed) are all around an hour away and made for great day trips. The aquarium, with it's amazing touch tank, is "bike-able" from the cottage. Our stay at the Rendezvous was one of the most memorable of all our family vacations. It is a special place and I would highly recommend it!
If you looked up Perfect Rustic Maine Cottage on wikipedia you'd find Rendezvous Cottage. At least one person in our group would say on a daily basis "This is SO Maine!" We can't say enough good things about this cottage. It's in a beautiful location, clean, spacious and comfortable and the owners are helpful and friendly. My daughter loved all the retro toys and books (can't get Don't Break the Ice over here in the UK!!). Plenty to do in nearby Boothbay Harbor and you can walk to Tugs Pub (just across the swing bridge to Newagen). Scenery is unbeatable, and the sound of the lighthouse (or was it a foghorn?) at night was very soothing. I only hope we can stay again next summer.
