This is a petite holiday bungalow suitable for a family with small children or 4 adults. There is one double room with enough storage space. The twin room has hanging space and the second bed pulls out from under giving the option of 2 twin beds or a double.
A new bathroom has been fitted. It is shower only.
The living/kitchen area is one open space which has also recently been redecorated and I have had a new kitchen fitted.
The chalet it's self is on a known family holiday site but it's privately owned. The Shire is in a perfect location, not far to walk to the pool or bar but far enough by the woodland where it is nice and quiet. The front of the property you have your own picnic bench and there is plenty of grassy space around to play.
My name is Jodi and I am the owner of the Shire. I first moved to Cornwall 10 years ago after what was supposed to be a short visit however I ended up moving here. I love Cornwall and everything about it the people, the atmosphere, the beaches. I'm in the forces so I travel a lot and I'm based further up the country. When I get time off from work I come to Cornwall as much as I can and stay here as it's also my home when I'm on leave.
Jodi purchased this bungalow in 2013
I bought this property after I returned from a tour and I spent the first winter redecorating and refurbished it to turn it into the cosy Shire . I have just recently fitted a new kitchen and redecorated the double bedroom. The Shire is in a great location.
If you were to see any of the other bungalows on the site that are not privately owned, you will see a huge difference from mine. I wanted to make my property more fresh and modern and give it a warm homely feel so guests will feel that they are home away from home. I hope you find everything you will need during your stay and a little extra.
We had a lovely fortnight at the shire. The lodge has everything you need that you wouldn't normally expect!!! The site it's on is great too. Very friendly helpful staff! Thanks again for a great holiday!! The only downside is the cleaner wasn't very friendly on arrival!! We didn't see her again though so it wasn't a problem :)
Lovely little place a Home From home. Great beaches around with plenty of walks, The girls loved the clubhouse at night just to finish the day off.
We stayed at the Shire for the first week of July and it was an excellent experience. Right from the booking it has been smooth sailing. Communication from Jodi was crisp and clear, the e-mails kept us well informed and she got back quickly with answers to our queries.
The location of the Shire is awesome with woodlands right at your doorstep. The cottage itself is very well decorated and was clean and tidy when we reached ... all the daily use stuff was already there so we didn't have to buy much except food.... the holiday village facilities are also good we used the swimming pool a few times, ping pong, video games and laundry...they also have a handy shop for small stuff like mike, bread etc...plus a bus stop
The location of The Shire is excellent with easy links to St Ives, Penzance, Land's end and many more nice locations ... forgot the names now :-)
Overall a great time...nice and relaxing!!!!
Nice cottage in wooded area local to Hayle and St Ives
Nice for dog walking and chilling
Would stay again
We had a great week's stay at The Shire. The interior is gorgeously decorated and we had everything we needed in the drawers with even spare spices, flour etc should we need it. We also appreciated the extra facilities such as the large shoe box outside the front door - ideal for muddy boots! The corner chalet plot was ideally placed so my sons could walk our dog straight away in the woods and it felt quite private. Lots of rabbits bouncing around and trees to look out on made it feel very restful. We had the sun on the patio most of the day too, not that we stayed there much to enjoy it. I would say that 2 adults and 2 children of 12 and 10 were definitely 'cosy' but there was plenty of space to sit down and the coat hangers on the doors were very useful! The location is ideal, and we visited lots of different beaches with our dog. Our favourite was Porth Kidney. We also drove to Lelant station, just down the road, parked and walked to St Ives, then caught the train home. The site facilities were okay, and the shop assistant very helpful and friendly. A really lovely stay, thank you, and we have said we will return and discover other beaches.
We've just returned from a fantastic stay at this cosy, well equipped chalet. The location on the site is ideal as it's tucked at the end away from most chalets and right on the forest edge. Perfect if taking a dog. Also, we found the areawas fantastic too, right in the middle of everything in the South West. We'd definitely like to return.
The holiday chalet is tucked away surrounded by lovely woodland on a family holiday site. There are so many wonderful things to do in the West Country but close by to the site you have enough to keep you busy no matter the weather.
From speedy Go Karting to a relaxing Pony trek in the gorgeous Cornish Countryside or if you fancy a leisurely game of Golf all of which are within 10 minutes away. If you are a lover of the sea, there is plenty near by for you to experience such as sea fishing & surfing or if you prefer to stay on the dry land there are many beautiful walks wether it be in the open lush green countryside or along coasts and beaches full of refreshing sea air.
There are many attractions that Cornwall is famous for such as Theme parks, Cider Farms, Museums, Botanical Gardens and of course plenty of places to enjoy a delicious Cornish Pasty! Also, throughout the summer season there are many local festivals in various towns and villages that you can enjoy.
Once the full payment has been made you will receive the welcome letter, directions and the code for the key box for the front door.
Please note that bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. Minimum of 7 nights.
