Sweetwater Lodge, this amazing custom-built, lake-front home, is located in the Bear Paw Resort, a gated community on Lake Hiwassee in southwestern North Carolina. Surrounded by the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests, Bear Paw is the only development on this 16 mile long lake which serves as both a recreational and power generation lake. Located near Murphy, NC and less than 30 minutes from either Georgia or Tennessee, Lake Hiwassee offers you both convenience to many area attractions and the privacy to enjoy boating on this “hidden jewel” of mountain lakes. A recent addition to the area is the new Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino, a short 35 minute drive and currently offering 70 traditional table games, 1,000 slots, five food outlets and cocktails but soon to include a bowling alley, an arcade and a full-service restaurant.
This home is a private residence which sleeps 14 and offers five bedrooms with four and a half baths plus a downstairs playroom and a loft area for relaxing. Offering spectacular open lake and unrestricted mountain views (water views on both sides), this home has a “Cadillac dock” featuring 2 levels perfect for sunbathing, sitting in the shade watching the family enjoy swimming in the lake or just soaking up the breathtaking views. The dock has docking for 2 Jet Skis (not included but you may bring your own) or you may rent or bring your own boat and dock it directly at the dock as we are just minutes from the marina.
Sweetwater Lodge looks and feels like a mountain lodge with detailed comforts in every feature. The huge great room with rock fireplace focal point is open to an expansive gourmet kitchen. There are covered porches on three sides of the house for added enjoyment as well as an outside fireplace for enjoying coffee outside on brisk mornings or for toasting marshmallows anytime.
Whether you come to the mountains to relax and enjoy the amazing mountain/lake views, boating and water sports in a quiet lake, white water rafting, wineries, hiking, dining, or if you just want to be away from it all with family and friends, this place has something for everyone.
