The PACHUCO VILLA Villa is a fresh and naturally ventilated Spanish colonial style of 320 m² subdivided in a private tropical garden of 1700 m².
It is composed of 4 air-conditioned double-bedrooms each with bathroom and toilet. One room is separated from the main body of the villa and is in the form of a bungalow with its own bathroom and toilet. A spacious living room with a kitchen part opens onto a large covered terrace overlooking the lush garden and pool.
The set is very protected and calm amidst a flowery and exuberant nature. The most beautiful beach of Las Terrenas' Playa las Ballenas is only 200 m.

We had a wonderful time
We just recently returned from Villa Pachuco and the trip was amazing. We stayed at the villa for 8 days and found ourselves on a different beach each day. So the location was good to go west to playa Coson or east to playa Moron. We rented a car so we were able to go to the waterfalls and the zip lines without any problems. Then came the best part. After a long day of doing absolutely nothing but relaxing, we would return home and find the table set and dinner ready. China and her help were amazing. Our favorite was the bbq. Overall it was a perfect trip. The lights went out twice and the backup didn’t come on, but it was only for about 10 minutes and after living in the Dominican for 2 years, it was not a big deal at all. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your villa. We had an incredible time.
It is always a great pleasure to note that our guests are satisfied by their stay.
Thank you Kasey for having taken time to draft this review.
Better than expected, and expectations were high.
Everything was great. The lounge chairs have seen better days, but this was a wonderful and relaxing vacation. We plan to be back and will stay here again.
We are always very happy when our customers are satisfied by their stay.
We are delighted to welcome you again very soon.
Big happiness to all your family.
Perfect setup for our group!
Villa Pachuco's grounds and architecture are absolutely beautiful. It was very convenient to have a bathroom connected to each bedroom. The spacious living and dining room areas allowed us to spread out comfortably. The pool was a highlight, but the best part of the vacation was hiring China and her daughter to prepare meals. The food was delicious, and so much easier than trying to get a large group out to a restaurant! Each morning, when they came to do the daily housework, we would talk about what we would like for dinner, they would shop, and a spread of food magically appeared on the table at our requested time. What a treat! They presented their receipts and we reimbursed them for the food each day, so you will need to have pesos/cash on hand for that.
We ate most of our lunches on the beach, because you can use the beach chairs and tables if you buy food and drinks from one of the variety of vendors. We spent most of our time at Playa Ballenas, a 5-10 minute walk from the villa (head away from town). We enjoyed a couple of excursions with Flora Tours, and we took several walks into town (15-20 minutes) to shop and get treats. It wasn't easy to get a taxi to come out to the house, but as soon as you walk down to the main road, you can get a taxi very quickly - or hop on the back of a scooter.
Notes that might be helpful for future guests: We used the taxi service from SDQ offered by Richard, it was the best deal we found, with a prompt and friendly driver. We were grateful for the good supply of bath and beach towels on hand at the house; you don't need to bring your own. You might want to pack your own pillow, if a fluffy pillow is a priority for you. We were also happy that we brought a good supply of mosquito repellent, because the open air living spaces meant that the mornings and evenings were extremely buggy. There is a washer on site, but no dryer. Having a Spanish speaker with the group was very helpful for coordinating logistics, English is not universally understood. The main house's hot water system went out intermittently; my understanding is that it's a solar powered system, and because the weather wasn't great while we were there, there was an auxiliary system that needed to be activated (by pushing a button on the power panel...ask one of the staff members to show you where so you can be sure to have hot showers!). There is a water cooler, and 5-gallon jugs are delivered to the house daily.
Thanks for a great vacation!
Thanks so much Leah,
We do our utmost for the best holidays of our customers and are always very happy to notice that they were able to be totally satisfied.
We wish you and your family a Wonderfull Christmas !
I´ve been travelling a lot in my life and this time I chose a stopover at Dom Rep for some relaxing days to escape the heat of Cyprus on my way back to work. What a great choice! Not only the Island, the beach and the people but whow what a great estate at such a fair rate. Everything was in perfect condition, clean and arranged in the best of taste. Merci Richard - thanks to you we had an amazing time
Always trying to give the best to our customers.
Thank you very much and hope to welcome you again soon.
Wonderful holiday, it was as expected, the pictures corespond to the real thing and the service was excellent. Honestly, we were a little bit worried after reading the review from a gentlemen who had the bad luck to be in the villa during a power outgage so we contacted the owner to ask what happens if we would find ourselves in such a situation. He reassured us that in such cases, that are fortunately rare, the only thing he can do is to offer a free stay at an alternative date of our choice. He pointed out that unfortunately these events can never be excluded in countries like the domenican republic, its always dramatic for both parties. Also us experienced 2 short power outages and the inverters worked as they should. Our stay was spectacular and Richard and the staff has been very helpful to secure us. I can just recommend it.
Villa was inhabitable for half of the stay, owner doesn't reimburse
We stayed at Villa Pachuco from July 19th and the plan was to stay until July 26th. The villa is ok, nice garden, decent pool, etc., lacks some maintenance, however the property manager answered pretty fast to fix what was necessary.
July 21st in the night we had a blackout, nothing unusual in Las Terrenas or Dominican Republic, but the inverter (backup power batteries) didn't kick in to provide electricity, so we were in the (pitch) dark. I asked the security guard about it who went looking for the key of the room where the inverter was, however before he found it the power came back on. Next day we checked the inverter and noticed the switch had been down, so we put it up, to make sure it would kick in in case of a new black out.
Friday 22nd at 8pm, the power went out again, again no inverter that kicked in, power came back after half an hour, I went checking the inverter again and noticed the back up batteries were completely dried out. Power went out again a few minutes later and this time it didn't com back. Security guard told me the batteries actually didn't provide for more than 1 or 2 hours anyway (which is weird because in my own setup at home with 4 equal batteries I get at least 12 hours). We spend the night without electricity, no fans, no light, no running water. Because of being extremely hot we (4 adults and 6 children) had a difficult night for not having air conditioner or at least a fan.
After we woke up we were told by the lady that would come to clean and a guy from the village that the power outages were due to sabotages and it would take probably until Monday for it to be repaired. Having no back up power whatsoever we realized we couldn't stay until Monday without electricity. Without being able to take showers, to use a refrigerator, being pitch dark after 8pm. The property manager came and she acknowledged that the villa was inhabitable without power and also told us it was unclear when the power would come back and likely it would last until after the weekend. We asked her to reimburse the remaining three nights so we could look for another place to spend the remainder of our vacations. She said she could not take that decision and we had to take it up with the owner. We contacted the owner, who said he regretted our experience but his policy was to not reimburse any money.
I obviously don't agree with that position and am looking into the steps I need to take locally here in DR to recover my loss.
I have offered the customer a 100% reimbursement in form of a free stay at an alternate date. I am not the power authority and certainly can not do anything against this.
Following, my communication to the client :
… « In any case, when the electrical service is not provided by the company, the inverter provide electricity only for lights (this has been specified at the arrival) and never for neither the pumps (pool & house) nor the fridge.
Furthermore, the inverters are not supposed to operate more than 3 to 4 hours, and as Isabelle told me, the batteries was operational at the beginning of the strike and could operate for a 4 hours run.
I can also specify that the others villas around was rented too and every clients (even not resident as you are) has understood that the owners cannot do anything in this special case (power cut during more than 4 consecutive days of the supplier of electricity).
All the village has suffered from this pitiful incident, everyone were obliged to throw their groceries of their fridge after 24 hours of cut, it is about a pitiful incident which is not of our responsibility.
Again, I am so sorry about your stay and I am really disappointed that you condemn me for a fault which is not due to me.
In any case, I reiterate my offer of a free week at an other date of your choice during the next 12 months.
Hoping that you will understand me and that you will accept my compensation, I thank you in advance. » ...
For customers that are worried, I advice to make a holiday insurance in their home country. This is the safest way when travelling abroad.
