Ideal Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place for a fall getaway and I'm sure it’s just as beautiful year round! The house had everything you could ask for and then some. It was quite windy the day we arrived so we were treated to some gorgeous waves. In my opinion, the screened porch was the best feature of all and I spent every possible minute there when we were not out and about. We saw plenty of wildlife in the area including deer, a fox and wild turkeys. There is also a lovely pottery place, Clay Banks, nearby. Don and Susan have a beautiful home, were very easy to work with and prompt in returning our security deposit. I highly recommend this rental property!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is absolutely beautiful. The bridge, stairs and beach are very well maintained. We had a wonderful time staying here for a long weekend and would definitely recommend. We also rented the smaller cottage next door as we had a larger group. It is a very short walk between the two and worked out perfectly for us!

"Pure Michigan"

  • 5 of 5

What wonderful memories we have of our family reunion week enjoying both of Don and Sue's beautiful and clean beach cottages. Buffet dinners were easy to prepare and set up with plenty of counter space including an island bar area. We enjoyed dining outside on the deck, in the large screened in porch, and inside at the big dining table; all caressed with lake breezes and offering stunning views.

During our week the family walkers and runners enjoyed miles of pristine beach and peaceful country lanes bordered by wildflowers. The birders spotted warblers, kingfisher, vireo, hawks, kingbird, bluebirds, and shorebirds, among others. The swimmers stroked the clear water and rode the waves on body boards. The artists loved the landing with built in benches which was half way down the stairs to the beach. There they sat in the shade creating watercolor beach scenes. The singers added their voices to the sounds of waves lapping the shore when everyone gathered for the brilliant sunsets. The observers pointed out satellites, meteorites, constellations and galaxies during beach evenings together around the fire. The gourmets thought Reese's peanut butter cups would be a good addition to the S'Mores. They also planned an outing to a nearby fish boil and bought freshly baked cherry streusels and pies for all to enjoy at the cottages. The crafters enjoyed making memory jars of their "beach week." The golfers were immersed in nature as they played the nearby sporty Thoroughbred Golf Course. The tourists visited a local winery and lighthouse. The thrill seekers rode scooters on Silver Lake's wind sculpted dunes and raced Go Karts. The naturalists pointed out the beach vegetation zones. The photographers captured colorful sunsets, beach scenes, and special moments. The teenagers and young adults skipped stones over the waves, body surfed, had a cherry pit spitting contest, perfected marshmallow roasting, tried to beat their dads and uncles playing pool, decorated the deck table with a driftwood centerpiece, and rallied the group with party games and camp songs. The relaxers sank into comfy chairs noting the ever changing moods and reflections of Lake Michigan which distracted them from reading.

Situated on a lightly forested bluff overlooking the lake these modern, well equipped, comfortable cottages put us in touch with the natural beauty of the lake shore, area amenities, welcoming business owners, and each other. That's pure Michigan!

A true home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This home is located in a beautiful secluded setting on lake Michigan. We booked this home to attend a family wedding over Memorial Day weekend. It was the perfect amount of space for my husband and I, my brother's in law and their wives, a newborn baby and cousin in law to stay. It was very spacious to give everyone privacy. The large open kitchen/dining room and living room made it very comfortable for gathering. The back screen porch was perfect for morning and evening coversations over coffee. We made a lot of use of their grill. Reading and watching the sunset on the beach was very peaceful. The owners of the house were very pleasant to work with. They are very responsive, and want to make sure that this home truly feels like your home.

Beautiful Family Stay

  • 5 of 5

Bent Pines is a beautiful home in a quiet peaceful setting. Waking up to the view of Lake Michigan can't be beat. Our entire family enjoyed the glorious sunsets, nightly beach front bonfires, and building sand castles with our grandchildren. The home was a perfect entertainment space for a family gathering for my husband's 60th birthday, surrounding him with his children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. We even had a chance to briefly meet the owners, and they were as comfortable and pleasant as the home they shared with us.

Our family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed it with our 4 grown children, spouses, and 2 grandsons. Loved the home's openness, the view of Lake Michigan. our walks on the beach each day and of course the kids loved playing pool in the basement. Their home was very welcoming and the owners were wonderful to work with. We thank them again for sharing their beautiful home with us and we created a great family memory!!
